It's a day full of fun, friends, and festivities! The NO FOOLIN' Benefit Concert has been set, the microphones tested and on stage, the sound running smoothly, weather cooperative. Food stations are everywhere, ready to feed and rehydrate everyone who's in the area, and the musicians have been given free reign to everywhere.

Throughout the day, live footage will be broadcasted on TV Channel 14, and video and CD recordings will be available for purchase at the end.

So swing your Gear at a donation station and enjoy the concert!

[She beams. Good, she was pretty sure she'd recognized him from the 'gear.]

Good! You gave a really awesome show earlier, I've never even heard music like that before.

[She moves in closer and drops down to take a seat next to him.]

It's nice to meet you in person.

[It takes him a second to place the voice, then Dave brightens. Oh hey.] Heeey, good to meet you too.

[He takes her in and nods at her appearance as he sits up a bit from his slouching.] Thanks for the compliments, was just demonstrating the music my dad taught me. Traditional, you know?

[Ah-ha! The disguise works! She grins again and makes herself more comfortable beside him.]

Your dad taught you that kind of music? I don't even know how most of it is made.

Where your from is a sad place, this stuff is made on the fly at shindings like this. Depending on how the concert is set-up. Bands have their stuff recorded and made so people can listen to it in the highest quality possible.

Anyway, there's equipment we hook up to get started. You can remix stuff or create it right on stage. Other than the slam poetry/rap. That's another music form of its own. [He takes a second to drink a bit of water. God. His throat is going to be shot tomorrow.]

[She snorts a laugh, but doesn't protest his description; after this concert, she had to admit herself, there were a lot of cool things her world was missing, music-wise.]

What's slam poetry and rap?

[If she was from her future, she'd (unfortunately) be acquainted with a certain rapping ninja, but as it stands right now? No idea. She nods toward the water bottle.]

Yeah, I'm cool. Never done a lot of singing like that at once. [Dave takes another swig of his water and keeps talking.]

Rap and Slam Poetry are two different things, the later is used a lot for self expression, debate, and human related issues. It tells a story at the same time, doesn't even have to be set to music half of the time.

Rap is always crafted with music in mind. It's no less as powerful and has been used for a lot of different messages over time. What we did was just enjoy ourselves on the fly.

[She rests her chin in her palm, elbow against her knee as she listens, clearly trying to absorb all of it. Stuff like this just didn't exist for her back home, or if it did, she'd never seen it. It was all pretty, well, cool.]

So did you have a certain message you wanted to show today? [she asks after taking a second to absorb it,] Or did you just decide to improvise with whatever you could think of?

We just followed Bro's lead today. [He think of a thousand messages he could have sent across the crowd. None of it belong in the peaceful world they're in. It could be said among the darkness where the gods dwelled in the right.

He shoves the thoughts aside and spreads his hands.] It was all about helping out that gym leader, seemed rude to steal that thunder for another purpose.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense, [she answers the second statement first, smiling again.] Maybe another time you can put on a show that has the kind of message you want to show, though!

[She rests more easily against the wall before asking something that had been bugging her,] So when you say 'Bro', are you guys actually related? Or is that just a nickname?

Yeah we're related. We just call him Bro. [The best way to say his parent is his parent is to just give hints. He leans back a bit as he adds.]

But Dirk is the same dude as Bro, it's a little complicated.

Dirk...? He was on stage with you guys, right?

[Alright, this is interesting, leaving her leaning in a little more as she glances at him.]

What's that supposed to mean? I mean, if you don't mind explaining...

It's cool. They're the exact same guy. That's what it means. One comes from the same version of the universe I did, the older one. Younger comes from a flipped version. That's where it gets complicated.

A flipped version, huh? I think John mentioned something about that, when I asked. Something about your world being destroyed?

That's right. The flip took who was the rents and who were the kids and flipped them, just not how they were related. If that makes any sense. I'm betting it doesn't.

[A quiet laugh and a sideways glance.]

It doesn't, really, but I'll take your word for it. It sounds like this place isn't the weirdest thing that's happened to you guys, huh...?

On a scale from Murder she wrote to MTV, this place doesn't even reach the Twilight zone levels we're used to. Sometimes it tries, but it will never match our lives. [Not enough death and crazy shit.]

[That whole comparison just went right over her head, but she'll nod anyway.] John's mentioned something about that, but never any specifics. What did you guys do?

Quite a lot of things. Might want to be specific here, how much did you read from John's post?

All he told me is that you guys played a game and it somehow teleported you to another world before yours got hit by a -- I think he said a meteor?

Meteors. It was plural and each one bigger than the last. [He makes a wide sweeping gesture with both hands to encompass the whole area.] The president must of shit himself when he saw them bearing down.

[She drapes both hands over her knees and glances toward him.]

I'm sorry something like that happened, Dave-san.

Not like it can be changed, it happened. Sucks but that was several years ago. [Dave leans back, putting his hands behind him.] The universe broke, so we had to reset it. The reset is Dirk's universe.

[She just stares for a moment.]

I guess I see what you mean about this place not being all that weird in comparison, then. What happened to you guys, though? I mean, if you reset the universe, where's your place?

[A pause.]

You don't have to answer if you don't want to, sorry.

We escaped, heading back to the new universe to see what we can do to win this time. [It's not a topic that really bothers him. In fact, he seems hardly bothered at all. Dave even shrugs.] It's cool. just a bunch of complicated stuff we have to handle.

[That's something that keeps mystifying her, how he and John can be so calm about this.]

I never realized how much civilians might have to go through... It seems like you guys have got it under control, huh? For whenever you get out of this place.
