the most romantic of anniversaries
Who: John Egbert and Rose Lalonde
Where: Saffron City
When: Saturday, 6/8 (evening)
Summary: John and Rose go out to dinner for their 2nd anniversary, only for John to keep glitching out of it because the dummy caught a glitch Pokémon and boxed it. It becomes an anniversary to remember.
Rating: PG-13 for (probably) cursing and John inevitably glitching into the tub with Rose. (but nothing naughty happened)
[Sometimes, John finds himself unable to believe that it's really only been two years since they started dating. Somehow, it just seems like it's always been a thing. And at other times, he finds himself stunned that his relationship with Rose has actually lasted two years. Because, gurl, you really could do loads better. Not that John is complaining.]
[In any case, this Saturday evening finds the two dressed up quite sharply and headed to a nice restaurant in Saffron. Not too much of a to-do, but a nice, quiet evening spent in each other's company, never the less. Or at least...that's what they assumed it would be. Little did they know that the glitch running rampant through Pokémon Land had other plans.]
[After waiting a few minutes for a table, the two were seated at a cozy little booth in a back corner of the restaurant. Ahhh, romantic candlelit dinners. Aren't they to die for?]

[As he continues to peruse the menu, the waitress returns with pad of paper and pen at the ready. She smiles expectantly at the two and John hastily gestures to Rose.]
Go ahead and order first, sweetheart. I have it narrowed down at least.

I would like to start with a side salad of baby greens, raspberry vinaigrette dressing. For the entree I would like the crab legs with an extra cup of the lemon butter sauce. No dessert please. Thank you.

Alright and I'll also start with a salad, but just a normal one with ranch dressing for me. Aaand... I will have the strip steak, medium well. With mashed potatoes on the side. No desert for me either.
[SURPRISE, SURPRISE. John folds his menu up, handing it to the waitress who repeats their order back to them before disappearing with a smile and a cheery "I'll have that right out!"]
[Once she's gone, John smirks at Rose.]
You feeling alright, Rose? No dessert? I'm stunned.

Do you want your present then too? I have it with me now so if you don't want to wait I could give it to you now while we wait on our food.

[He's kind of rambling a bit, but mostly staying on-topic.]
And it just... really means a lot to me. You mean a lot to me. [A beat.] Now hold my hand, my finger-wiggling muscles are getting tired.
[Just look at them still going. You should definitely take hold of the hand they are attached to.]

It's important to me too, as are you. Though you most certainly out rank any day of the year, milestone or not.
no subject
Well I am definitely glad to hear that. And I hope it still holds true by the time we finally do hit a milestone!

[Once the plates have been placed on the table and thank you's exchanged, the waitress leaves again. John lets go of Rose's hand but instead of picking up his fork, he picks up his glass and holds it up.] A toast before we dig in? Or would it be weird for us to toast to our own future?

[He takes a sip before hastily adding:]
Only good surprises though! Nothing like... surprise! You both have cancer!
[Perhaps too much detail there, John...]
no subject
Of course. To the future.

[ZAP!!!]
[Apparently, it wasn't a one time thing.]

[[Rose continues sipping at her water, nibbling at her salad a little as she texts him. She's already finding this more amusing than anything else.]]

she decided on the pink one.
[Fashion EXPERT.]

You'll have to take me shopping some time.
no subject
no but you know i wouldn't mind doing that.
though you look good in pretty much everything you put on so idk why you would need me to help you pick stuff out.
no subject
Whether I look good in everything or not, I value your opinion.
