arrogantalloy: (A: 036 Coffee!)

It's the morning after, when I shine.

Who: Tony Stark ( [personal profile] arrogantalloy ), Carol Danvers ( [personal profile] tookthename  ), Steve Rogers ( [personal profile] starspangledavenger  ), Hope Estheim ( [personal profile] eagletalons  )
Where: Olivine City
When:July 15 (forward dated)
Summary: Tony felt the need to celebrate Hopes one year anniversary in this world.
Rating: G -PG

Tony was staying in an okay hotel room until he could find himself enough money for a permanent home to rarely stay in while traveling. And right now it was housing a few other people, namely Steve, Carol, and Hope. One of which was probably doing a lot less well with his hangover than Tony was. Who himself looked like he normally does.

Tony is a very old hate at drinking.

Ignoring everyone else and their varying states of consciousness, Tony just made a bee line to the coffee. Because as sober as he looked, Tony partied harder than he had over the last few years, and felt the need for some stronger than normal coffee so he could get back to poking around the inner workings of Hope's Boomerangs.

Hungover? Yes. Horrible at holding his liquor? Very much so. Hope had never been one to drink after all-- he only drinks if it's offered.

... Which is probably why he had drunk so much last night, because Tony.

Hope has never been good at handling mornings, let alone mornings with hangovers, and he refuses to move from his position at the table, head cradled in his arms. It's far too bright right now, and the smallest sounds are enough to get his head pounding.

He's well aware that coffee is a good cure, or at least it helps, but he doesn't want to get up.
starspangledavenger: (Well uh okay then sure)

Steve gives the scene a skeptical look before walking into the room. He's been up and jogging already, even showered and redressed, so he's wide awake and aware of everything. Noting Hope's pathetic state, he walks over to the coffeepot and pours two mugs, giving Tony a look that clearly states he's a bad influence. Though, Steve isn't hiding his amusement over the situation.

Knowing sound sensitivity can be an issue for many people who are hungover, he leaves any comments he has for Tony unsaid as he makes his way over to Hope. He speaks very softly as he says, "Here," when setting the mug down by Hope before taking his own seat at the table.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-07-09 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
The soft voice that tells him there's something for him still jars him, but Hope smells coffee and it smells downright wonderful. He's always been a fan of coffee-- it helps him get through late nights and early mornings and everything else in between, a must for engineers, archaeologists and leaders of an entire scientific group-- but right now it's like a gift.

He gingerly raises his head and looks at the mug blearily, before grabbing it and pulling it to himself so he can smell the aroma.

"I could make you an engagement pendant right now."

He's not sure who gave him the coffee, really, but right now, he doesn't care.

Carol enters shortly after Steve, having just gotten back from her own jog (though she had yet to shower and redress). Instead of getting a glass of water she goes for her own mug of coffee while surveying the room (trying her best to not focus to much on Tony. Last night was hilarious, but she was still felt awkward around a Tony that drinks.)

Hope looks dead, not that she's surprised. He didn't strike her as the type to drink, and after seeing how he held his liquor last night she could confidently say she was right.

"I hate to say it, Hope, but I told you not to drink that much."
starspangledavenger: (I think you made that up)

[personal profile] starspangledavenger 2013-07-09 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve feels incredibly awkward about what Hope said, unsure how to respond. It's the first sorta proposal he's ever gotten, but he knows something people say stuff like that when they're really grateful. Hope doesn't seem the type to willy-nilly propose anyway and mean it. Too bad he doesn't have any painkillers for the poor guy.

He shoots Tony a look that says 'Not funny' even though he does agree some. All his boys could hold liquor like it was air. No problem. It seemed to be a Commando talent, they could drink everyone under the table. Anyway, Steve still has problems remembering that Air Force and Army aren't the same branch of military anymore.

Looking at Carol, he gives her a warm smile.

What is with everyone coming in like this and starting to talk around him? He knows they're making some kind of sound, just like the Pidove outside of his window that morning, but just like the Pokémon, most of what he can hear is ringing because his brain has difficulty processing anything his ears pick up and it's just a bit annoying.

"Talk to me later," he says after drinking a generous portion of that coffee, though it might come out as a mumble. "I need to undergo sensor calibration before being able to interact."
tookthename: (smirk)

Ugh, sorry for the hold up

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-07-11 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Carol smiles back at Steve over her coffee. Seeing Hope chug the coffee she grabs another mug, fills it, then sets it down next to the first for when he's finished. She starts working on another pot.

"Not all of us had the pleasure of our college experience at 14, Tony." She smirks over at him before finishing her own mug.
starspangledavenger: (Stoic pleased)

Ah sorry didn't notice it was my turn!

[personal profile] starspangledavenger 2013-07-13 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve sips his coffee, caffeine still does very little for him but he likes the taste. There's not much for him to comment on other than giving Tony a look that says "be nice." He know the look will probably go ignored, but still, worth a shot.

"Anyone got aspirin?" he never needs to use it, so he never thought to see if they have that sort of thing in this world.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-07-13 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
They're still talking, obviously, but the more he drinks, the more things clear a little. Just a little. He can hear Tony rambling (and his mental nickname for the man is so, so accurate right now because Tony rambling makes him prickly) and Hope is starting to wake up despite the pounding in his head. However...

Oh.

Oh no.

"I'd just said something embarrassing, didn't I?" He's very, very sure of it. Something about making a pendant for someone-- he doesn't know if they actually understand what it means for people from Cocoon, given they're all Earth humans, but he cant be too sure.

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-07-14 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Unless you count proposing to Steve as embarrassing, no." She pushes off the counter and goes to rummage through her bag. She comes back with a bottle of aspirin and a bag of chocolate covered peanuts.

"Here we go. Take two of these, eat some of this and drink a lout of water. You'll feel better in no time." She goes over to the sink and fills a glass of water to set in front of Hope. Just because she doesn't drink anymore doesn't mean she forgot how to help a hangover.
starspangledavenger: (Not sure how I feel about that)

[personal profile] starspangledavenger 2013-07-15 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
Steve just knew no one would drop it, that someone would tell Hope what he said. Yet, a small part of him had hoped people would let Hope just forget about it and move on. No such luck. He would have given Carol a "really?" look, but she was going out her way to help, so he gave her a pass this time.

"You just said you'd make me something, it's fine," thinks that will make it better. Too bad he's not thinking about the culture differences at the moment.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-07-15 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's not. That's not something he's expecting to hear. Hope drops the bag of peanuts (not the aspirin, thankfully), because what. He proposed, which was something embarrassing in and of itself, but offering to make the pendants himself?

Nope.

Nope.

Even worse. Those things were usually store-bought but custom or handmade ones by artisans were... something else. His parents had theirs custom, he remembers.

Which is why he buries his face in his hands again, to make sure no one sees how red he is in utter shame.

"I am so, so sorry for the thoughtless remark."
tookthename: (eyebrow up)

[personal profile] tookthename 2013-07-16 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
Carol's already taken the first cup from the fresh pot as soon as it stop pouring.

"Five second rule on the peanuts. They're still good to eat. Now, whats this about a boomerang?"

She takes a large gulp of coffee, completely forgetting that she won't just absorb the heat, and burns her mouth. Quickly swallowing she glares down at the mug.
starspangledavenger: (Really? Amused)

[personal profile] starspangledavenger 2013-07-24 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
"It's fine Hope, really, nothing to forgive. People say strange things when drunk or hungover all the times. My first proposal, but I've had other crazier things said to me before," he gives him a sincere smile before looking at the peanuts. Without much care he grabs some from the ground and eats them, because trust him. he's eaten nastier when on the field. Plus, he's still rocking some great health because of the serum, so he doesn't really care.

And really, it's not like they fell in shit. The things the Commandos did.

His attention settles on Carol and her glaring at her mug. "Yeah, that took some time to get used for me as well," it was more that he healed so fast it didn't bother him before, not now.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-07-24 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
They don't get it.

They don't. Which may just be a blessing and Hope should just stop fighting it. He should chalk it up to a difference in culture (because Earth people are still strange), and be done with this line of conversation.

So he does, scrubbing his hands across his face. Too bad someone else is bothering him right now, and for an entirely different thing.

"You are not going to touch my highly sensitive, non-Earth technology without my supervision," he says with a pointed look at Tony, despite the image possibly ruined by his face looking like the Unseen World had warmed over.

"It's like waking up to a slap in the face every morning." It's one of the reasons Carol took up running again. Keep in shape and also hopefully remember to let her coffee cool now.

"That sounds really interesting. If you ever do decide to let him look at it, Hope, I wouldn't mind sitting in."

starspangledavenger: (Well uh okay then sure)

[personal profile] starspangledavenger 2013-08-04 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
"That's a great way to put it," and it is. Steve didn't realize how much he relied on how the serum changed him til after he lost the full effects.

Steve listens and shakes his head at Tony's protests. "Tony, as far as your expertise is concerned, this is alien technology, maybe you should have the expert with you to make sure you don't kill yourself or anyone else. Work together, I know you know how, I saw you and Bruce," he sips some coffee. He really means it when he says he doesn't want things blowing up. "And suits or not, a world that developed differently than ours is bound to have entirely different technological advances, so you're a greenhorn when it comes to Hope's technology."

Besides, if Pep ends up hurt, he can only imagine Grace's reaction. The Lucario might act like she dislikes Pep, but Steve has an feeling it's more of a crush.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-08-04 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Thank you," he says to Carol and Steve, and he really does mean it. Tony is brilliant, yes, but there is a fine line between brilliance and insanity, and Hope knows what kinds of things can blur that line. Designing a city that runs entirely on clean energy is brilliance, but creating a creature that has the ability to enslave all of humanity is pure insanity.

"You are someone from Earth, while I am someone from Gran Pulse-- while we're both human, even genetics is different between us." Gestures to his hair. He's seen a handful of people with white hair around here, but they are most definitely not from Earth. "I'm not about to let you unsupervised around what's mine."

He hopes his tone is enough to convey a big NO, but just in case, he takes out his PokéGear to send a quick text message to one of his extras, an explicit message to the Pokémon on the other end not to let Tony into his room or near his things without Hope willingly tagging along.

Carol makes a mental note to talk to Steve about lost powers later.

"Honestly Tony's the only person I've met here so far that isn't from your world who might actually be qualified to look at it." Carol tells Hope. "He's good with tech, and the Tony I knew was really good with delicate tech."
starspangledavenger: (That's... not what I meant)

[personal profile] starspangledavenger 2013-08-16 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Steve gives Tony a flat look, because really, Tony was going to use the spear as an example of his work with alien technology? Because that's a horrible example. "That's because the only person who was even close to being an expert on that alien technology was Loki and he was locked up in a cell waiting to be busted out. Kind of hard to have him supervise. We had to give it to you two and hope for the best. And I'm pretty sure you guys got no where with it, well other than it making us all almost turn on each other from exposure." He actually says most of that with more of a neutral tone, not attacking or even that emotional about it. It's just facts of the matter. Besides, he really rather not revisit the 'turning on each other' part again. Still sore subject for him.

Steve then takes a drink of his coffee, listening to Carol's comments. There's no telling how similar or dissimilar they are from each other. To be honest, he'd hope for similar. "To be honest, I can't vouch for Tony one way or another. We haven't known each other long." And it's true. he knows what he's seen and experienced, but there's a lot that he hasn't even had the chance to. Maybe one day, but for now, he can't actually say from personal experience if Tony is okay to play with Hope's things.

[personal profile] eagletalons 2013-08-26 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
Hope raises a finger. He wants to end this line of conversation right here. He throws Carol a dirty look too, just for even saying Tony is qualified.

"I do not know what this spear is-- I'm honestly sure I wouldn't be able to understand. But this? AMP is a technology that can simulate magic and propel airships and gunships. It every single law of physics there is, possibly even the ones on other worlds. Engineer or not, you're not from my world and I cant let you handle unstable principles and technology on your own.

In fact, there are people from my world, but they don't even know what exactly it is. So no."

And to drive his point home, he curls up, pulling his legs up and resting his feet on the seat of his chair and placing his mug on his bent knees. He refuses to talk about this anymore.

"Okay, guys, calm down." She places a gentle hand on Tony's shoulder. She didn't like seeing him and Steve argue. In her head she knows this argument is on a considerably smaller scale than the debacle that happened over the SHRA, but it still made her distinctly uncomfortable.

"Whatever happened back in your home worlds doesn't really matter here. This isn't worth fighting over."
starspangledavenger: (Srs Business face)

Steve's jaw clenches. From what he remembers before everyone started fighting is him coming in and backing up Tony's claim with physical proof, seems Tony remembers it differently. Fine, at least now he knows.

But Carol stepping in helps, because Steve was ready to go for the fight, but he doesn't want to upset Carol or drag Hope into this dysfunctional sorta friendship he has with Tony. Either way, he's worked up and he needs to remove himself from Tony before the man utters something and ruins Carol's efforts.

"Carol is right. I have some training to do, shouldn't have put it off this long," he gets up, giving Hope and Carol a smile and a nod, while Tony only gets a nod, and makes a quick exit. He really doesn't need to know what retort Tony might throw at him or Carol, he just knows leaving is best right now.
