Who: Kiyotaka Ishimaru (
ardent) and Mondo Oowada (
diamondo)
Where: Pewter City
When: August 3rd
Summary: Mondo has a lot of issues that result in him fighting his Pokémon. Ishimaru plays Team Mom. Spoilers for chapter 2/episode 5 of Dangan Ronpa.
Rating: PG-13 for Mondo's horrible language
Log:
[The theft had gone off without a hitch. Pewter's museum had been robbed blind and Mondo felt awful about it. Already there had been at least one post to the network about it, and he had decided not to follow the network any more for a couple of days. He doesn't want to think about it, and so he's simply going to avoid it. That's probably not the best way to deal with things, but he doesn't know how else to handle it. It's the same way he's been dealing with Fujisaki's death. He doesn't know how to handle it, so he just ignores it.
There is one thing that's come from talking with Fujisaki though: Mondo needs to get stronger. Fujisaki is already incredibly strong and looking to get stronger, and Mondo refuses to allow himself to be seen as weak. Those moments where he's slipped up and harmed his friends - those are moments of weakness. He refuses to let that happen again. His solution? Training non-stop with his Pokémon. He can really only fight with two of them, Ryder the Scrafty who is a bit on the short side but she doesn't take it easy on him, and Pierce the Lucario, who is more of an even match. At least he knows how to reign in his power, it seems like Ryder doesn't. Either that or she just likes beating her trainer senseless.
Mondo's been keeping an eye on Ishimaru ever since the heist. Ishimaru was pumped full of tranquilizers for his act and Mondo's been trying to look out for him ever since. Of course, he can't just sit in the room all day and hover around Ishimaru, so he finally left a couple of hours ago to get some fresh air and train a little.
And by "training a little" he means "beat the shit out of his Pokémon."
Pierce has long since been exhausted, so Mondo is currently fighting Ryder, who as usual, isn't taking it easy on him. Since Pierce evolved he's tried not to fight Ryder - there's definitely something wrong with her but he's not sure what it is; either way, she doesn't seem loyal to him at all and will take any opportunity she can get to disobey him outside of battle. Now would be the perfect chance for her to really screw him over, but the most she's done is throw him against a tree. Repeatedly. He's definitely going to have bruises forming, but he gets back to his feet and charges her again. She's much faster than he is, and she uses his momentum against him to throw him head over heels yet again.
At this rate he'll be lucky if he gets out of here without breaking something, but Mondo shows no signs of stopping either. He has to get stronger and this is the only way he knows how to do it. If he can defeat his Pokémon in battle, he'll be practically unstoppable. That's how he's going to increase his strength.
...This would work better if Ryder would at least go a bit easier on him.]

[He means that. He doesn't want them to worry, so the obvious solution is to be reckless when they won't find out! Of course that's going to be easier said than done, but he's sure he can work something out.]
I'm really glad they're all here.

[He's quiet for a moment after that, though; thinking again.]
Naegi-kun and I had a talk about a week ago, you know...about what happened. He said that he doesn't like it when I refer to further incidents in the school as "what's going to happen" - because if he manages to have any say in it, he won't let it happen. He'll make sure that we stay here.
no subject
...He's a good kid. I hope he's right, that we can stay here and never go home. Things go to shit pretty quickly for us, don't they? I'd much rather stay here and never experience any of that. If there's any way to control who stays and who leaves, we'll find it, kyoudai. We'll figure out how to bring the others here and ensure that we'll stay. None of that's gonna happen to us.
[He's more concerned about Ishimaru than he is about himself. He doesn't know exactly what Ishida was, but the idea of Ishimaru permanently becoming that terrifies him on some level. He likes Ishimaru just the way he is.]
no subject
[Mnngh.]
Naegi-kun explained what...he remembers happening to me, during that discussion; I finally asked him for details about it. It didn't feel right to press Asahina-kun.
no subject
[Mondo shifts a bit, uncomfortably. Of course he wants to hear about it, but he doesn't want Ishimaru to have to suffer through it if it's particularly bad.]
Do you want to talk about it?
no subject
...I don't know. Maybe it would help; I'm not...used to this sort of thing.
no subject
[He reaches out to rest a hand on Ishimaru's shoulder, gently squeezing it in what he hopes is a reassuring manner.]
no subject
He's determined to not cry this time around.]
After you -
[...ohhhh boy. Give him a moment.]
After the execution, I think I went catatonic, or something very similar; from what Naegi-kun said, I stopped eating and I didn't sleep, and if I spoke at all it was very little. He brought me to speak to that AI he was telling us about, because apparently in that condition I misunderstood what it was and thought it was some way to speak to Fujisaki-kun, perhaps in some sort of afterlife, I'm not really certain. He...he said I wanted to ask Fujisaki-kun if he held some sort of grudge against you.
When the program realized that I was the person asking those sorts of questions, based on Fujisaki-kun's programming...it simulated you instead. To try to get through to me. That's what caused me to...
[He hesitates for a moment; how do you even explain that...]
That's what caused Ishida.
no subject
...Shit, kyoudai.
[...How eloquent.]
I'm so fucking sorry. If I hadn't--!
[Now isn't the time for that. He shakes his head and forces himself to press on despite it.]
I can't believe all that shit happened to you. I mean, I'm kinda glad Ishida helped you outta that state, but I never would've thought you'd... practically become someone different.
no subject
[There's nothing pointed about the statement, but it's obviously not sitting well with him; he glances away for a moment before making himself continue.]
I don't think I recovered from...that; I was killed shortly after. Naegi-kun told me that he's positive I didn't suffer, and that it was over quickly.
But it's okay, kyoudai; I think I prefer knowing what happened.
no subject
[He's not sure what else to say. What can he say? He can keep apologizing for it, but there's no real sense in that. It's not his fault and besides, apologizing won't get them anywhere.]
Well I'm glad you prefer knowing but... shit. That fucking sucks. Do you know the details about what happened or...?
no subject
[He's a bit hesitant to supply information about who actually carried the act out; he suspects Mondo won't take it well.]

[Mnnnngh...]

Let me guess, you're not gonna tell me 'cause you don't want me to rough 'em up when they get here, am I right?

no subject
I'm not saying that to try to get you to leave the actual culprit alone; the person responsible was a girl.
no subject
...Who was it?
[He's not sure which of the girls would be strong enough to kill Ishimaru with a blow to the head.]
no subject
...Celes-kun. Celes-kun was responsible for it.
no subject
[Apparently she's stronger than she looks, then. Mondo's expression tightens immediately and he tries to come up with something to say. Of all people, why her? Why him?]
...Was it because of the next motive? Whatever the fuck that was?
[What could be worse than revealing their deepest, darkest secrets though?]
no subject
[That motive is something else he suspects won't go over well.]
no subject
[He shrugs slightly. Celes is a hard one to pin down.]
Are you gonna be okay with bringing her here?
no subject
Why wouldn't I?! She doesn't deserve to be there, either - and besides, she's been punished for what she's done!!
