Now here I stand, oh in the morning sunshine, dreaming only of the promised land...
Who: Ramza Lugria (
throw_stone) and Walter (
beholdmydemons).
Where: Cherrygrove Inn!
When: The morning of 27/8.
Summary: Ramza and Walter meet, there is discussion afoot.
Rating: Um. Nothing bad should be happening, but I can edit if it does.
Log:
[It was just another day at the Inn - it was easy for Ramza. Work here in the mornings, the PokeShop in the evening, make a tidy amount of PokeDollars.
Did everything in this world have a connection to that word? Pokemon? It still rung odd to the young Beoulve - why would they do that, of all things? But, it was another day - another chance to continue learning to live as these people do every day. To fit in as any normal person would.
Wait, was that...]
...Walter?
[He looked to be coming this way, and... wow. He looked tired, for sure. Ah - no. He should... stay behind the reception desk. There's no need for him to rush out and escort him in, is there?]

Don't judge him, he's been picking up a few pebbles. They may rob his sword, but they won't rob his throwing arm.]
What sort of beast is that?!
[He's looking pretty serious. You know, as he has a stone ready to throw at a fire-moth.]
no subject
Hold. [Then, to the moth:] Is your name Edgar?
[Sure is. nbd. Where's my trainer?
Walter lets his hands fall and looks over at Ramza. It's docile, chill.]
no subject
And then, he speaks.]
Walter here - he found you, inside that... device. [The PC - Ramza does look to it.] You've not been sent to harm him, have you?
no subject
That the Pokemon is clearly a Fire-type immediately endears it to Walter. If it was in the PC...under his name...even if he didn't catch it himself...that gives him a good chance of it joining him, right? Because he wants it. It's cool.]
Are you to be my ally, then? [He straightens without thinking about it, adopting the firm expression that he's found instills confidence in demons without angering them.
Edgar mostly just seems confused in a mellow way, glancing around as best a moth can. He hovers closer and makes a humming sound, though, seeming accepting of the idea.]
no subject
But still. That creature is larger then him - Ramza is quite nervous, even it he does not show it in his face. He's no coward.] It seems we've gathered another ally... [And then, Ramza gets an idea. If the devices here have given his friend a Pokemon, he might have...] Perhaps one has arrived for me, as well. Do you mind?
[After all, perhaps he has gotten one? Or perhaps it would not have - that would be fine, as well.]
no subject
By the time Ramza's done with the PC, Edgar has decided that his trainer's head and shoulders make a great perch to chill out on. Walter doesn't look too comfortable under a hundred pounds of moth, but he's not going to vocally complain if it means he has a GIANT FIRE BUG.]
So, er, is there anything...?
no subject
It seems you've gotten favour of the gods.
[He steps aside - nothing in there, just as Ramza implied. His Hoothoot, however, is now nesting on the computer, fluffing up a little.]

It hasn't done too much to harm them... nothing at all.]
Perhaps the PokeDex will have information on whatever species 'Edgar' is.
[Hopefully. Maybe. No promises. These electronic devices are so confusing!]

'Tis named Volcarona - a combination of Bug and Fire types. It is... [a pause] This device says it is a replacement for the sun, in times the sun could not reach the planet.
[...Is it a literal god? Ramza is not sure of that - he then hands Walter his Pokegear, with the Pokedex entry still up.]
no subject
...ahh...replacement? Why would the sun not reach the earth? [He takes the Pokegear, scrolling through the entry himself with a puzzled look.]
no subject
It mentioned volcanic ash - perhaps this land had a Cataclysm?
[whoops mentioning ivalice events without much canon mentioned just so casually]
no subject
Vol...canic...? [elaborate]
no subject
You've not heard that word before? Volcanic... comes from volcano, large mountains which sometime unleash liquid flames, along with dust. It could block the sun, if it were erupting for long enough.
[Though, there's only one active Volcano in Ivalice - Mount Bervenia (where, in the future, cloud strife somehow lost his sword HOW THE HECK DO YOU EVEN DO THAT DUDE) - Ramza knows a little bit about them, from his studies.]

[He'd not lie in general, except about his name. And he's kept his serious lineface!]
Though, it is not quite burning... it does not disappear, even as the liquid flame flows. It just continues.

[He looks back to Edgar, at those wings.]
But this beast - it does look rather bright, does it not?
no subject
He grins a little.]
I'm pleased with it. I have a fondness for fire, besides - we'll be a good match. [Does the moth like scritchies? Aww yeah the moth likes scritchies. (He'll never stop wondering where the hell it came from, though.)
ALRIGHTY THEN, with a half-turn and grin to Ramza:] Have we any more business here?
no subject
No - I think the next place you should see, however, is the shops. After we allow Hildegard and Edgar rest, if they desire.
[Because he's not going to be shopping for both of them, and they need to think of supplies for when their eggs hatch.
He hopes, anyway.
How did he become the tutorial man?]no subject
...Moth's good. Back into the Pokeball you go, buddy (you too, rat.)]
Ready when you are.
no subject
...Fly back to the room - the window is open.
[Yeah, Ramza left the window open in the inn room. The Hoothoot lets out a squawk, before spreading out her wings - and flying off.
Without hesitation, Ramza started to walk off.]
The shops here also use these cards - to help with payment. Though it may seem odd not to carry Gil - or whatever you called your money - 'tis apparently 'safer' this way.
[look at the way he assumes you have money in your world
how cute]
no subject
Walter wrinkles his nose, following Ramza and taking out that card to look at it again.]
How is this meant to help with payment?
