[Mondo's humming to himself when she enters and doesn't even notice her until she starts trying to leave.]

Hey, Saionji! You want anything for breakfast?

[He pauses to search through the gifts for a... very strangely-wrapped one. It's an oval shape with far too much tape keeping the wrapping job together and a shiny bow stuck on top. It's very obviously a Pokémon egg. There's also a card taped to the side; hope you like glitter, Saionji, because there's a lot of it!]

I got you something! Hopefully it'll be useful-- ah, what's this?

[Mondo finally notices the new addition on the table and arches an eyebrow. He turns it around to see the label and lights up immediately.]

You didn't have to get me anything!

[...He says, as he opens the bag...

The egg inside isn't a familiar one, but he recognizes it as a Pokémon egg and his grin widens.]

You really didn't have to get me an egg! But holy shit, I've been meaning to start training something new, so this's perfect! Thank you so much, Saionji!

[But that's just made him even more determined to hand over the badly-wrapped egg. He pushes it towards her. She might not recognize the egg on sight, but it's an Eevee egg. Everyone else in the house has an Eevee that wears their clothes, so it's only natural that Saionji gets one as well! Unfortunately he didn't have time to get the clothes made (and Togami would probably do a better job anyway, so he'll just pester him later), but hopefully by the time that Eevee hatches it'll have a cute little outfit that matches Saionji's!

The card also has a small gift in it - 20,000 of this world's currency! Mondo works pretty frequently and battles even more often, so he's got plenty of money to spare and he figures she could use it more. Besides, she can spend it on a stone for her new Eevee!]

[HE SAW HER. HURRY QUICK QUICK ABORT MISSION-

Before you can run off, though, he holds something in his own hands. Saionji quickly swallows the cookie she stuffed in her face, and... okay it's not that aesthetically pleasing but the fact that it's an oval just completely wrecks her plan. WELL THEN, LOOKS LIKE SHE STILL OWES HIM CRAP. But... hey, it does look pretty cool, in the 'NEW POKÉMON TO ~~torture~~ TRAIN WITH' way. He seems really happy with her own present too, which is good.]

Of course I had to get you something, Big Bro Oowada! You came all the way to Cherrygrove, and- [Hold on a minute there's something in the card- HOLY SHIT WHAT THE HELL

HE'S GONNA MAKE HER WORK TO REPAY A DEBT LATER ISN'T HE but Saionji doesn't show those expressions of shock, and just accepts it with that sweet dancer smile. Hell, she IS pretty alright with a gift like this, but this is a bit big to just receive without some odd feeling.]

Ehhhh? Is it really alright for me to take this? But... yay! I've been wanting one of these, and the money's a big help! Eheheh... thank you!

[She contemplates for a moment, and wonders about where Ishimaru is, because she has something for him too. A bit less endearing. But still.

Her Mawile tries to steal the breakfast.] Hey- Ayani! Bad! ...But yeah, I think breakfast would be good. [It's a bit too cooked for her taste, but eh.]

Yeah, 'course it's alright! I've been here since April, so I've had a lot of time to get used to this place and everything. I know how fucking hard it can be when you first start out though, so hopefully that'll help a bit!

[Mondo seems pretty damn pleased with himself; clearly she liked the gift so he did something right! As much as he loves the holiday season, he's not very good at picking out gifts.]

Alright, sure thing! I'll be fixing bacon in a bit if you wanna stick around for that.

[Otherwise, he'll just dump some of those eggs on a plate for Saionji! He doesn't seem bothered by the fact that Ayani tried to steal the food; he's well-aware of how often Pokémon try to eat people-food, but he sees no harm in sharing!]

You got a pretty cool Pokémon to start out with! What type is it?

[HE REALLY DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE ULTERIOR MOTIVES BUT SAIONJI IS STILL UNABLE TO COMPREHEND SOMEONE NOT-KOIZUMI BEING SO NICE TO HER OUT OF THE BLUE]

Bacon? Eeeurgh, nah- [Ayani hears the word 'bacon' and leaps on the table in glee. Okay, there's no telling where these starters have been before but she's beginning to drool from both mouths.] Ayani, no- [She just drooped over and gave Saionji puppy eyes. Goddammit, she was already imitating her trainer.] ...Okay, fine.

[She pockets all the money gleefully, temporarily abandoning thoughts of suspicion.] Ayani's not hurt easily and she's cold to touch, so she's Steel-Type, according to other people. [At least, not until Ayani becomes a Magical Girl and gains a dual typing. Saionji starts eating the egg, though she eats much less than what Ayani devours off her plate.]

[Wow, that was a pretty impressive display, Ayani! Mondo will get started making that bacon, then!]

Oh yeah? That'll definitely be useful when you're fighting since Steel-types tend to have a higher defense than most of the other types.

Higher defense? Oh, oh, can they hit back well too? [Ayani chomps on the food with her two mouths with great efficiency. As far as biting goes, she seems to be well-prepared.]

Yeah! Ayani can just rush at anything and punch them, right?

Yeah, I think so! I've got a Steelix who's pretty fucking useful in battle, so I'm sure Ayani will be great too!

You might wanna be careful when you're training though, since Ayani's a lower level than most of the shit that's in the grass around here. I can help you train, if you'd like!

Awww, seriously? Yay! Big Bro Oowada can help us train!

[Ayani doesn't really care, but Saionji seems happy, so she looks happy too.] ...What's a 'level', though?

Yeah, 'course I can!

[It's pretty much all he does when he's not working, so...]

Well, Pokémon have levels. Ayani's probably level five if you haven't trained at all. The maximum level is 100; when you get there your Pokémon won't get any stronger, but it'll be one of the strongest creatures in the region! I've got a few at that level, but like I said, I've been here since April, so I've had plenty of time to train.

Levels are basically a way to gauge just how powerful an enemy Pokémon is. So... let's say Ayani's level five and is going up against something that's level fifteen. That enemy Pokémon would probably be too powerful for Ayani to beat. That's why you've gotta train and raise Ayani's level, so you can take on anything!

Ohhhhh... well, Ayani did beat an Exeggcute! [After she unceremoniously barreled headfirst into a tree.] So she might go up a level!

[...Well... not yet. But Ayani does puff her chest up and look very pleased with herself.] And I'll have to train the new Pokémon when they hatch... hm...

[She's been contemplating a job... but ehhhh. No one in Goldenrod would ever want to hire her, unless there's a performing arts job offer open somewhere...] It's best if Ayani gains a few levels quickly, so I won't a sitting duck to any gross loli pedos out there!

Uh, yeah, you won't have to worry 'bout shit like that! Pokémon are pretty easy to train at low levels, so it shouldn't take you too long to get 'em to a point where they can look out for themselves!

[You know, the usual, being involved with murder and all, nothing special] Oh, great! Ayani will be beating up any meanies who arrive in no time, then! [She's particularly excited about the state of affairs right now.]

Don't wanna get caught off guard, especially in a place I don't know too much...

Don't worry, you'll pick it up in no time! This place's pretty simple once you get used to it!

Yay! ...How do you get lots of money other than battling, though? [Saionji can't be too dependent on these guys. Turn her back they'll kick her out, she's got no family pride as a crutch now.]

Well, you can work! Pokémon Centers and Pokémarts hire pretty much all the time, but there are a few other jobs you can work at here and there.

[Like the Game Corner, but that's run by Team Rocket and he doesn't want Saionji to get involved with them.]

[Unfortunately, Saionji might want to get involved with Team Rocket.] Is there any... dancing jobs...? [It's not like... she can't... handle accounting, or cleaning, or being good customer service... ahahahah... yeah...] Orrr, should Ayani and I go look for them?

There's a Dance Theater up in Ecruteak City, but I don't know if they're hiring dancers. But since your talent's dancing, who knows? They might take you on anyway!

[He pauses for a moment, then recalls a broadcast that went out over the 'Gear not too long ago.]

...Unfortunately, they were attacked by Team Rocket recently, so they're probably rebuilding before they can put on any shows. But it'll probably take awhile for all this snow to melt anyway, so it might be best to wait to head on up there.

[Excellent. The first step towards darkness...] Huh? Who's Team Rocket?

Team Rocket's... well, they're an evil organization who steal Pokémon for profit, basically. They've done some awful shit before - apparently this is the second time they attacked that Dance Theater - but as long as you're with us, you don't need to worry about 'em!

[Because he and Ishimaru can just redirect their attention elsewhere...]

Steal Pokémon for profit? So basically animal trafficking? [Seems like this world wasn't perfect either. Just like the world back home, in fact... she might be able to get used to it faster than she realized.] Do they do anything else? Are they in Goldenrod a lot? If anyone tries to steal Ayani, she'll just bite their faces off, so she'll be fine.

[Ayani yelps happily at the mention of her name. Saionji would keep her in the Pokéball, but her presence tends to make Saionji feel better about herself. Ouch.] Attacking the dance theater, though! That's straight disrespect for culture and arts!

Some of 'em are pretty powerful. The girls who run the Dance Theater are trainers too and they were overpowered pretty easily. So I'd be careful around 'em, alright?

[All those questions are really not a good sign... Saionji, please don't join Team Rocket. :| ]

Yeah. I've got no fucking clue why they decided to attack it again. I guess 'cause it's a landmark or something? But why not attack one of the Gyms...?

[He shrugs. He's not even going to pretend he understands what Team Rocket's thinking. Even if he is a Grunt. Whoops.]

[Naaah, as organized and cool Team Rocket sounds, Saionji's more of a soloist- I mean what]

Huh... maybe they got a grudge against the people there? Maybe the girls turned them down! [A chuckle.] Orrr, maybe there's something they're after in there!

Yeah, it could be any of those. Well, if you decide to head on up there, maybe someone can come with you, just in case? I mean, I doubt they'd attack the place a third time, but you never know. Ishimaru and I might be headed on up that way anyway, but I dunno, we've changed our plans a lot lately.

[Well don't be surprised if one day she gets on the news for like grand theft or something]

Eh, I'll probably only go there once I get Ayani strong! Plus these two unhatched eggs I got. [GONNA HAVE A STRONG POKÉMON TEAM... ONE DAY...]
