If it's rankings, I've only played video game versions...

In any case, you shouldn't worry about a handicap. A game isn't any fun if people aren't trying, don't you think...? Win or lose, I think that's how it is. If Saionji-san went easy on me, I'd have less fun.

Fiiiiine. But handicaps are fun! Almost like a completely different game... they can be turned against the handicapped player if the right pieces are played.

[A sneer.] Everything's fair in a game like this, isn't it? Even if its intention was to help you, things don't go as planned, and it's stupid to assume they'll always do, like how uneducated pigs consider 'help' and 'handicaps' to be.

But okay! Let's play the normal version first! [Saionji would probably lose- Nanami's got experience too, and, as said, she's fucking SHSL Gamer.]

Hm...I guess they can be. It depends on what you want from a game. I guess...I'd like to see Saionji-san's skills? I think that would be nice.

[ Was that a comment about the island...? Well, whatever. ]

That sounds nice. ...Do you want a candy cane while we play?

[ Nanami stop giving her sweets you just gave her a ridiculous amount of gummies!

And yes, challenging the SHSL Gamer to a game is welp. Maybe next they should have a dance competition. Three guesses who would win there. ]

Yay! [Saionji promptly begins messing with the board it bit. It does make it look easier for Nanami to capture and turn pieces against her... but Saionji has plans.]

Candy cane? Depends on what kind. [The too-strong peppermint ones that literally set the mouth on fire ew no but she's not gonna dismiss it like most Western sweets, hell it's got its... perks...? Its flavor tends to be too strong for her, though.

DANCE DANCE FEVER ALL CHRISTMAS LONG]

[ She's not going to take it at face value, although Nanami does look interested. ]

Um..."Sweetart" flavored...?

[ They're rainbow-coloured and will make your mouth purple, probably. ]

...Nah. [Instead, she pops open Nanami's presents and starts eating.] Let's start playing! [And there she is, grabbing the pieces with sticky hands.

Fast forward one game later...]

[ ...Well, better luck next time, Saionji. You did try, though! Nanami seems to have enjoyed herself, anyway. ]

[Saionji was pretty damn sure she got Nanami cornered, so the last few moves that completely turned the tide and pinned her down definitely shocked her. Anyone could see it from her aghast face.

And while Saionji was laughing and giggling about how she was winning so easily, Nanami kept a perfect poker face before destroying her completely... what kind of sorcery was this?!]

Wh- you're lying, aren't you?! Someone must have taught you before! I'm pretty sure only professionals can confidently pull off that technique!

No...like I said, I've only played console versions of the game before...

[ ...But it's still a game she's played, which is the problem. It's easiest to beat Nanami at a game she hasn't played, and at that point it'd better not be a video game, because those are her specialty. ]

It just seemed like a good move to make...

[...You know, this is the kind of time Saionji wishes she was SHSL Dancer and not just SHSL Classical Japanese Dancer. The full extent of expansive SHSLs was painful to experience, when she could only dance in a specific area. Of course, her dancing talent is extraordinary and she can easily master any, but...

I like white chocolate...at least, I think it tastes sweet.

White chocolate is so much better! Dark chocolate too, I guess. Either have enough cacao solids or none at all!

If made well, it's creamy, melt-in-the-mouth, like real chocolate, but better. Nothing like the chunky, sugary abominations mass-produced in plastic wrappers.
