[closed] Crystal Letter
Who: Ren Jinguji & Utau Hoshina
Where: Ilex Forest
When: January 30th
Summary: After hearing the news about some of his very close friends leaving, Ren finds a piece of paper, meant for him...
Rating: PG, but will change if needed. This will include a lot of angst.
Log:
It had been days since Ren and Utau had entered Ilex Forest. The journey had started unexpectedly well as they hadn’t really run into trouble. Neither of them had traveled like that, at least not much, so it was amazing how they were able to pull through. Ren was sure it was because they were together and could surpass anything like that.
Traveling wasn’t the only thing they needed to endure. There was also pain. Both of them had lost important friends recently. Both Haruka Nanami and Amu Hinamori had left this world. Now Utau was the last one from her world to be here – just like she was for so long when she had arrived. Losing Haruka had also been quite a shock to Ren, especially after they had become as close as friends as they had. At least they didn’t need to mourn alone, which was comforting.
The disappearance of their friends was a hard reminder that this might happen to them one day. They might be separated, just like that. That had Ren thinking more about things than usual, which is why he stayed up late at night and woke up later than Utau did.
Waking up from the tent alone felt unnecessarily cold. Ren figured Utau probably wanted to see what kind of Pokémon she would be able to find around here, early in the morning, so he wasn’t surprised she wasn’t there. It gave her something to think about, rather than her brother and Amu being away from the world.
Perhaps he could surprise her with a nice breakfast. Ren got up from his sleeping bag and dressed up before walking over to their backpacks, searching for their cooking equipment.
It was then when a single piece of paper fell out, falling on the ground. Ren picked it up and noticed the paper said “for Ren”. Curiously he opened it, wondering if Utau had left an “I’ll be back soon” note. Instead he found lyrics. Ren was about to put it away, as he probably wasn’t supposed to read it… but then he noticed some of the words.
I loved you so much that I wished for us to last eternally
I loved you so much that I cried on and on
I truly want to turn back…
“This is…” No. It couldn’t be.
He read the lyrics carefully, his hands shaking. This couldn’t be real. But the more he read the lyrics, the more they seemed like a farewell letter. Something he was supposed to receive after she was… gone. The timing was perfect. Disappearances sometimes happened in a chain, so it was possible…
“No”, he said as he shook the thoughts away. “There’s no way she’s...“
Yet she wasn’t there and the letter was. His initial thought was to run out to look for her, but his legs weren’t able to move. Instead he sat down, hands still shaking. He kept hoping this was all a bad dream and he would wake up soon.

sorry, this won't help him at all :c
After too many bugs, possibly seeing a rarer pokemon of the area for the tiniest moment and a long walk, the girl was walking back to the tent. It was a weird thought, because this whole traveling part was still a part she disliked about being here. It took too much time to get to other places, she wasn’t used to this, she still rather avoided this whenever possible… Except she was also going to follow her boyfriend anywhere, so when the guy wanted to get his last badge – well, what else could she have done? Sit in another city and just wait? No, that wasn’t an option. It wasn’t too bad in his company, not even when Ren found it amusing how much she disliked this whole traveling thing sometimes.
Her Ninetales came back to Ren first, followed by her Zoroark, who pretended to be Espeon. The fire fox looked worried and sad as soon as it saw Ren. Something was wrong. The other went back to its ball, but the Ninetales gave the boy a gentle push with her head and let out a sad/worried cry.

A letter, a sad Pokémon, Utau no being here... it was all coming together. This was what happened when someone left the world. She was really... gone.
He reached out to the Ninetales, but then moved his hand to his face instead. The first tears streamed down his face.

"Ren...?" She stepped in and just stared at him, worried as ever. Maybe this was about the boys' composer again.

He didn't stay like that for long though, as he quickly closed the distance and hugged Utau tightly. While he was still crying and shaking, the tears had now changed into relief and happiness.
"You're still here... I'm so glad... so glad."
(ooc: wrong girl in the icon, but let's pretend it's Utau)

"Of course I'm still here." And she was glad to be here. "Why would you think that I -- No, wait, what did you think?"

"... you weren't here and I... found the lyrics you had written. Then Jewel appeared alone and looked sad and... I just... though..."
It was still too difficult to say it out loud, even if he was calmer than just now. His voice was shaky at the end of the sentence and he opted out on talking any more than that.

He found the lyrics? She gasped. It all made sense now, even more when he didn't stop there. Ren didn't need to finish the sentence, it was obvious what he meant. "...Sorry..."

Utau kissed Ren's cheek. "Sorry." She repeated it, trying to stay calm as she wrapped her arms around him. "It's okay. I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere." She should have taken those lyrics with her, maybe.

"It's not your fault... I'm just glad it was all a huge misunderstanding." He knew that the day when that situation would be real might happen one day, so he was grateful for every moment and every day.
"I love you."
no subject
"It kind of is, but let's not think about that anymore." if he ever goes home, then she sure hopes it's the moment when she leaves too. Utau clings on to him a bit more.
"I adore you, my love." Better be ready for some breathtaking kisses in 3, 2, 1 -- now.

Every moment counted. Drowning in her kisses was one of the best ways to use those moments.
