It's been much too long, I feel it coming on
Who: Kushina Uzumaki (
ghostpepper) & Minato Namikaze (
aflashoffaith)
Where: Olivine City
When: January 25
Summary: It's Minato's birthday and his wife has decided to monopolize his time for the day. Also new town means some exploring's probably going on. Fluff highly likely.
Rating: PG for now
Log:
[The ferry ride had felt like it had taken too long. Three days at sea and the 25th had been creeping up on them. Too many times she had been tempted to find the captain and demand to know if the piece of junk carrying them could get to the next port any faster. But they had decided to take things easy for this trip. A little downtime for them and their teams.
A day remained when they finally reached the mainland. Not much time left for planning anything big, especially since they still had to find a place to stay, but no matter. Naruto was off traveling with Itachi, so they could do something together. Keep it just the two of them. But what? It was a big city, surely there was plenty to find. Just a pick a place to start then see if there was somewhere he wanted to go. Seems like a solid plan.
On the morning of the 25th, her brain begins to sluggishly put together initial plans for the day as soon as her eyes crack open. Get up, make breakfast for both of them, think of somewhere to go first... Yep. Solid. She's still half asleep when she gets to the kitchen and starts rummaging around to make tea.]

She was beautiful.
For a moment he just watched her move about, filling up the kettle to boil water, picking out a mug from the cabinet. He'd been the first to wake up, as how the case usually was, but not really long enough to do more than make himself a pot of coffee and feel a little more human, and a little less zombie.
She hated coffee, he didn't even bother to offer it to her. But there were creamers and milk, sugar, sat out on the table already, for the both of them (her dislike of all things bitter had somehow translated into him sweetening up all of his drinks too).]
Morning.
[Perhaps he should have started on breakfast instead of checking the "news" (aka: posts from the other people stuck here) and normally he would have but, well.
It was his birthday and she was a better cook and he wanted something special.]
Sleep well?

[The words are rounded off with a yawn. Once the water was set to boil, she shuffled over behind Minato's chair and draped her arms around him. She leaned forward to kiss him on the cheek.]
Happy birthday.

Thank you.
[His hands lifted then too, rested lightly over hers, hoping to keep her in place if only for a few moments (the water had just been put on, breakfast could wait too). It had been surprisingly quiet with just the two of them, but he'd relished this time with his wife still- if he was going to be stuck with just one person at his side all the time then, well, he supposed Kushina wasn't a bad choice.]
I was starting to worry that I'd lost out to the blankets.
[A low tease, murmured, the warmth and weight of her arms around him comforting.]
no subject
[Well... He always won against the blankets, anyway. She wasn't in any hurry to move away just yet. Just having him there felt so right, even if it sometimes was a bit on the quiet side.
But there was always background music...She rested her cheek against Minato's, staying there for a few seconds. Her eyes closed and if she hadn't known any better, it was almost like they were right back at home. She pulled away one hand to play with his hair.]After my tea's done, what did you want for breakfast?
no subject
It was nice not having any real threats around. Or at least, nothing like back home.]
Mmn- surprise me.
[He loved all of her cooking.]

mostlyteasing. But being able to sleep in most days and not have too many worries was really nice. Definitely a luxury she could get used to.]Are you sure? You might end up with ramen.
[Her words are quickly followed by laughter. More teasing since that would be what she'd do for her own or Naruto's birthdays. She was starting to get some actual ideas for breakfast anyway.]
no subject
That awkward laughter is definitely real though. haha. ha. ahh. ha. She was kidding, right.]
You can't have ramen for breakfast anyway, Kushina.
[It ain't right.]
no subject
I can if I make it. It's not like I'm gonna throw it up anymore.
[One upside to getting here after dying: not pregnant.]
no subject
[It's a good thing he murders people for a living and isn't squeamish because you're not really making breakfast endearing darling 8|]
And it wouldn't get cold when I joined you to hold your hair back either. There's a lot of it you know, and it's pretty heavy.
[Very inconvenient.]
But that still doesn't mean we should have ramen for breakfast.
no subject
I know, Minato, I know. I wasn't actually going to make you ramen for breakfast, y'know. [And a reassuring kiss to his cheek before finally pulling away. Because hey, there's the kettle starting to whistle.
It's totally been a few minutes.]no subject
I'd hope if you ever cut your hair it would be with scissors, not fossil teeth.
[Maybe he could convince her to get hair flappies too.]
no subject
Oh, it'll be with scissors. But I guess it's a good thing I don't want to cut it off. ...Yet.
[She turned her head over her shoulder to see if her last word had any effect on him. The shit-eating grin on her face should be clue enough that she's basically moved to trolling him now that she's woken up more. But it is tea time so she can start her day properly. She loves you dear, really.]
