Summary: RESCUE TEAM GO!
Rating: PG-13! There will be violence (albeit of the wild Pokemon variety, at least we hope that's all there will be) and Kay will be fresh from being tortured once our heroes meet up with her - needless to say just mentioning what went down deserves the raiting.
Log: Johan couldn't believe it-- What were the chances that she would have been right under their noses the entire time? That the kidnapper hadn't taken her away after the crystals had all vanished, along with the Unown? ... He supposed the chances were a lot higher than he was giving them credit for, but right then, he didn't want to think about them. He had more imporant things to think about.

He wanted to rush in there and get her right now. If Asuka hadn't warned him, hadn't told him he was acting dangerously similar to how Juudai had been acting when he himself had vanished-- And if he didn't have just a bit more common sense than his friend had had at that point, then he probably would have gone in there. But he hadn't. Instead, he'd had Jet, his Drifloon, and Misola, his Noctowl, scout out the surrounding area, along with Jam, who had found the place to begin with. He'd gone in with Garnet, his Ampharos, just a few steps in, and he'd gotten jumped by a good five angry and confused Pokemon-- Pokemon from the nearby route, outside of the Ruins of Alph.

And it looked like there were a lot more in there past them.

Johan glanced at his PokeGear, checking the time. It didn't matter whether or not if everyone, or ANYONE, was here - he wouldn't be able to keep still for much longer. Kay was in there, he knew that, and here he was, standing here waiting for reinforcements. He could only wait so long. Oh, he'd get her back, of that, he had no doubts. Even if it killed him, before the night ended, she would be in her bed again.

((OOC: Here's how this is going to work! We'll have the main thread going down in an action log, which I'll start in a new comment, and then we'll have a secondary thread, one I'll also start, which will take place before that one, during the time period before they enter but after Johan sent out the "distress call" over the network, which I'll be posting in just a few moments. THAT thread will be done like a regular network post, and everyone can tag each other and tag however they want - they can get to know each other, talk about Kay, the "mission", all of that stuff. If anyone has any questions, just drop 'em over on the OOC post and hopefully I'll be able to answer them. Now let's go rescue Kay! ... Oh and, not sure if it was clear, but to make it so, tagging order for the rescue thread will be: Johan, Kaito, Konata, Heather, Rika, Beat, Johan, Kaito, etc. We'll put Kay in where appropriate when the time comes.))

[Rika holds up a pokéball, which lets out a Vulpix.]

Hope, burn any pokémon that stand in the way! [Hope jumps excitedly in front of Rika and quickly begins obeying orders, using Ember on any nearby pokémon that were ready to attack.]

[as usual, Beat's faster than his houndour... but it started howling as soon as it ran, so at least it's good and pumped for battle]

Hurry it up, G-Dawg! Le's move move MOVE!

[G-Dawg catches up with Beat... just in time for some Zubats to divebomb his trainer. Beat dodges, looking irritated]

You little weenies! Fry em' up, boy!

[And G-Dawg is embering while Beat backs the hell off, finally putting him behind the hellhound pokemon]

[As they continue to move and the Zubats just keep coming; either by more appearing or sleeping ones waking up and coming at them from behind, Johan's beginning to realize they need to try something else so they can move without taking so many hits. But that's what ideas are for!]

-- Misola! Can you cover Garnet for a while? I've got a plan that could really help us out!

[The Noctowl nods, giving an encouraging "Noc!" and begins to fly around the Ampharos as they move, blowing away or putting to sleep whatever it can that gets close.]

Okay, Garnet, I want you to use Charge. We need a really big one, okay? [Johan turns back to the group, and offers them a confident look.] I'm going to try to take out the ones ahead of us, can you keep them off our tail?

[... and being the risktaker shonen retard he is, he'll go ahead and pick up speed. oops this will probably get HIM too, but he's not thinking that far ahead.]

[Kaito skids to a quick stop at Johan's plan, turning quickly on his heel to face the Zubats that are charging at them from behind]

Knock 'em out, guys!

[Scamp and Biz do an excellent job of keeping the Zubats at bay, but Kaito glances over his shoulder to check on Johan's situation]

-- don't go too far ahead, you might get caught up in the blast too! [because he's perceptive enough to see something like that coming]

Slow down, you idiot! [Konata can see it too. She quickly recalls her Pikachu and tosses another Pokeball directly towards Johan, revealing a Sandshrew.]

Maru, Defense Curl! Cover Johan! [The well-grounded Pokemon moves in to physically put itself in between Garnet and Johan.]

_{[If they weren't actively being chased by a bunch of bats (and Heather's got that sot of ingrained fear of those things GETTING IN HER HAIR AND HAVING BABIES OR POOPING OR WHATEVER THE HELL IT IS THAT BATS DO), Heather might have spotted the little flaw in Johan's plan. But for the moment, it sounds reasonable enough to her, so she skids to a halt so quickly that her boots left tracks of rubber on the cave floor. She'll be wearing right through the soles of them eventually if she's not careful...]}

Arty-- get back here, c'mon!

_{[Whether the Furret did or not, she didn't see-- just turned around and-- .... um. ... Swung her stick like a baseball bat at one of the bigger Zubats that was flying straight at her face.]

[.... If the Kangaskhan Police were around, they would probably be shaking their heads in disappointment. Dammit Heather use your Pokemon.]}

[As soon as Johan kicks his plan into action, Rika orders her Vulpix to stop attacking, the pokémon retreating to her side.]

Johan, be careful! [With how quickly he's moving, things really can't end well. However, she feels relief when Konata takes action.]

[Beat looks back to see about taking out the zubats in the rear, to see Heather whacking them with a stick.

Made him miss his skateboard, man. :|a This was kinda like week 1, and just having the dog do all the work was weird. Then again, without Respect, it was just an ordinary board anyway.

Still, he had to work with what he had, so he yelled a cocky]

Have some more!

[And G-Dawg jumped at the bats with some more fire-spitting action!]

[While Kaito's comment didn't get him so much-- Johan had to be close to make sure Garnet was okay, for one, and for another, he had to stick close to make sure things were clear for everyone to keep moving since Ampharos couldn't talk-- Konata's was a lot more to the point. Something running up to put itself in-between him and his Pokemon helped too.]

-- Thanks! [He turns back to give Konata a quick nod, but that's about all he can do, because Garnet's finished charging up.]

Okay everyone, wish us luck! [With that, he'll look back towards the oncoming Pokemon and his Ampharos. He takes a deep breath, glancing down at the Sandshrew in front of him, and then, despite himself, gives a true duelist point towards the Pokemon in front of them.]

Let's hope you charged up enough, Garnet! Discharge!!

[And here comes a suped up shock that hits everything on the field-- Luckily that Sandshrew is there to block Johan, or he'd be hurting right about now. Enjoy the light show everybody!]

[The Sandshrew plan was good enough to ease Kaito's worries, and he nods at Johan before he turns back to take care of the Zubats behind them. Scamp and Biz manage to knock a few more down before the entire cave is lit up with lightning.

He pauses to shield his eyes from the light show, and when it dies down, he gives a low, impressed whistle. Johan had always been good at being dramatic about his plans]

Nice job! We can keep moving forward now!

[Konata reaches for a Pokeball to swap out her Sandshrew, but thinks better of it and leaves Maru out. For his part, Maru wasn't fazed by Garnet's attack at all, and is preening at his being useful.]

All right, let's go then. I still think it could be a setup, so let's try to get Kay and get back to the surface as quick as we can.

Maru, keep pace with Johan. You've been slacking off on your jogging anyway.

_{[Stick met Zubat with a meaty thud and the bat Pokemon went spinning away with a disheartened EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee_eeee....]}

_{[Fortunately, the other Zubats were spared the wrath of Heather's blunt-object-fu by the fireworks-worthy explosion of crackling electricity, and-- ... well, come to think of it, they'd probably have been better off with the stick. Nothin' took care of flying types like electricity, after all. She leaned back up, looking impressed. .... And electrified. She'd ducked and everything, but her hair had now gained a life of its own and was sort of hovering around her head in a staticky cloud.]}

... Yow.. When'd your guy learn to do that?

[She watches the small light show with interest, her Vulpix doing the same thing.]

Now let's hurry and get there as quickly as possible!

[Seeing lightning up close was admittedly pretty damned cool. If he had time to think about it, he'd be wanting an electric type of his own. As it were, he was continuing with the mad pace and just hoping there wasn't an Onix or something blocking the rest of the tunnel.]

I think I see something ahead now--! [Since the way in front is... totally wiped out now, at least for the most part, he'll be calling back Garnet while Misola joins him and calling OUT Kay's Golbat.]

Jam-- No, don't bite me-- Go ahead and see what's up there, okay? We don't have a second to waste! [And off the Golbat goes, while Johan sticks with his Noctowl and the Sandshrew to pick off anything remaining in their path.]

(ALSO if everyone's cool with it, Kay will be entering after Beat's next tag.)

[Kaito follows, his Gengar and Aipom close behind him, and his gaze sweeps the path in front of him for anymore rogue wild Pokemon. It seemed like Johan's Ampharos did a great job of wiping them out, but he's not about to let his guard down that easily.

The two manage to knock a scrawny Zubat or two out of the way as they run, but they're all much faster on their feet without the distractions to hold them back]

[Konata follows Kaito in turn. With Maru still in front with Johan, she calls out her Butterfree (tougher than it looks) to protect herself.]

What do you see?

_{[No one-liners from Heather this time around-- Johan's statement regarding what was up ahead takes the snark out of her a little. Maybe it was just a false alarm, but... it could also be the moment of truth, and that could swing both ways.]

[Pointing ahead, she directed Arty towards the front of the group once more before running along with them herself, grip tightening around the branch and eyes straining against the darkness.]}

[At Johan's remark, Rika's heart skips a beat. She truly hopes that Kay is doing all right as she thinks briefly of what happened to herself in the past. Pushing those memories aside, Rika focused on the situation as she ordered her Vulpix to continue battling the wild pokémon.]

((ooc: I'm so sorry about the really late reply. :( I didn't get home until midnight tonight.))

[oh snap, Garnet called back made things a bit harder to see. However, his eyes adjusted after a bit more running. G-Dawg barked after sniffing the air...]

Yo, I think I see somethin' too!

[no point in beating around the bush. Let's find out if the "something" is what he's looking for. BY YELLING!]

Yo, Kay!! You there?!

[ thank you, Beat. Besides startling a few Zubat into flight, that call is having the additional effect of-- ]

W-what...?

[ And there is one Kay Faraday, fresh from being poisoned before Tarantulas took a hike, looking like she's been in a fight with several Pokémon (now complete with bloody injuries and optional bruising accessories, kids!) and firmly stuck to a wall with String Shot. Sadly, she's having difficulty just keeping her head up, but she's managing to do so to flinch at the GIANT GOLBAT screeching happily at the sight of her. Considering Jam was a Zubat the last time she saw him, and she's feverish now, it's taking her a minute to figure out why this one isn't attacking her and is instead (carefully) chomping on the webbing keeping her trapped. This gives Kay enough time to... realize things. ]

Oh... t-that guy didn't... say anything about... guests...

[ And with Jam snapping the last bit of string free, Kay is staggering a few steps and-- falling forward. WHAT IS STANDING UP. ]

[Johan will be running ahead, following the Golbat as fast as he can and-- It looks like it stopped? And it's chewing on something? Johan can't see what it is yet, but he can't help but fron.]

Jam, this isn't the time for a sna--

... [... but that snack is actually Kay, and Johan just... stands there for a moment. And then his brain kicks in and he dives for her.]

-- I'VE GOT HER!

[Johan easily bolted ahead of Kaito, but the magician wasn't far behind, and at the sound of the duelists triumphant 'I HAVE HER,' his expression lights up in relief]

OI! Kay!

[he skids to a stop next to Johan and reaches out to help him hold her up, and unfortunately, his relieved expression fades at the sight of her]

What happened-- [he doesn't expect her (or anyone else) to answer]

... Kay... [There's not much for Konata to do except cringe at the sight of her friend in the state she's in. It's maybe the worst thing she's ever seen in real life -- assuming this world counts as "real life".]

This is awful. [Rather than avert her eyes, Konata starts to carefully scan the surroundings, trying to understand better what happened to Kay and who was responsible.]

_{[With her hands clenched around the stick, Heather was at the back of the group, menacing their pursuers away with the help of her angry Furret, but at Johan's yell, she whipped her head around. He had her? ... They had her! This was great, this was-- ...]}

... oh.

_{[Heather lapsed into a brief silence. She didn't look good. She didn't look good at all.]}

..... We have to get her out of here. Now.
