[He mutters, turning to the side slightly so he can glance up at the sky. The Starly still perched on his shoulder follows his gaze and tilts her head, confused. At least if Rachel can't morph that doesn't necessarily mean he's stuck in morph. He just physically can't morph back. As far as he knows, time isn't passing like normal here either.
And he has a few ideas as to why.]
The Ellimist, maybe. Don't know where he zapped the others though, if it's him.
[Tobias grinds the words out bitterly, pulling his hands from Rachel's so he can tighten them into fists. Of course he'd pull something like this. He's done it before, plenty. It would be even more of an explanation as to why he's suddenly human again.]
no subject
Right, The Ellimist...
[The Who now? Tobias what are you talking about? They haven't met anyone calling themselves "The Ellimist". But the way he said it and acted leads her to believe she wouldn't like them anyway if they do meet it at some point in the future as part of their battle of the Yeerks.]
no subject
Tobias turns around again, looking down the Route for any strangers who might happen to be standing around. For the moment, it looks like they're totally alone.]
Alright, show yourself. I'm sick of you messing with me, alright? First you trick me when you gave me back my morphing, and now this? I saved those Hork-Bajir, just like you wanted. What else do you want from me?
[Tobias snaps as he turns his attention to the sky again, speaking to nothing.]
no subject
Tobias, there's no one else here. Shouting at the sky isn't going to do anything.
[Tobias you're worrying her. You don't normally go shouting at the sky at something that isn't there. You sound like a mental patient talking about things that haven't happened.]
no subject
...What do you mean, shouting at the sky? ...you don't think the Ellimist is behind this?
no subject
[She doesn't have any rational explanation for how they got there. The few scenarios she's come up with so far sound too much like the plot of an episode of Star Trek and that's just straying too far into territory more often occupied by Jake.]
I don't know. Maybe we flew through some sort of airborne hallucinogenic.
[Not that that would explain why Tobias was in human form. But it at least made some minor amount of sense beyond some being that could zap people places.]
no subject
He lets out a deep sigh through his nose, looking off to the side for a moment, the gears in his head turning like mad. The Starly on his shoulder lets out a plaintive peep every now and then, concerned by how confused both Tobias and his friend seem.
Eventually he looks back over to Rachel, turning to completely face her.]
...Ok, this is going to sound weird. ...A lot weirder than anything I've already said.
But I think you're from my past. ....and I'm from your future. ...I was showing you guys that entrance a long time ago. ...and the Ellimist. He hasn't shown up for you yet, has he?
no subject
She crosses her arms, hands gripping her upper arms and wanders over to the rock protruding from the ground. Sitting down she watches the Houndour follow halfway and then pause and tilt it's head a moment as if judging if she wanted it anywhere near her.
Finally, she looks back at Tobias.]
No he hasn't made an appearance yet. [A short pause.] Tell me everything that happened in between.
no subject
The Ellimist is some sort of....super powerful being who can warp time, and basically alter the fabric of reality in any way he wants. He claims that he doesn't meddle in the affairs of the world, but...
[He trails off there, a distinct bitterness in his tone before he continues.]
A pair of Hork-Bajir escaped from the Controllers. Jara Hamee and Ket Helpak. Somehow, the Ellimist led me to them. He wanted me to save these two and lead them to a safe place where they could start a colony of free Hork-Bajir.
[Tobias takes a breath, closing his eyes.]
He told me, in return, he would give me what I wanted. So I did, with you and Jake and everyone else's help, we managed to do it. And....
....he gave me back my morphing. ...he somehow....let me acquire the DNA of my old body. So, I....my real body is still the hawk, but I can morph again.
no subject
The fact that you saved them means more than his meddling. Don't let it spoil the good you and the rest of us did.
[She pauses turning her head to look at him.]
You don't sound to happy to have the ability to morph back.
[She has a slight idea of why, but she's going to let him elaborate or not. He would tell her if he wanted to.]
no subject
I....I was angry with him for it. I thought....
[He shakes his head, grunting.]
I don't know what I thought he would do, but I just feel more trapped than ever. I mean, sure, I can morph again...and I have the choice....but I don't know what to do.
If I stayed over the limit in human morph, I wouldn't be able to fight. I'd be done.
[He'd lose all of you....even you, Rachel.]
no subject
If he were Cassie she'd hug him, but this is new to her. She doesn't really know how to convey her sympathy, concern, whatever without him being a bird.she never had the opportunity before now.
So she's just going to move things right along here.]
Well for the moment you're in morph with an infinite time limit, I'm guessing. Let's make the best of it and do some exploring of this place and our new animal companions.
no subject
Let's hope you're right, Rachel. ...but sure, why not. Maybe we'll find Jake and the others if we start looking.
no subject
So let's go. Even if we don't find Jake and the others it's bound be at least a little fun.
[The Houndour lifts it's head and wags it's tail in agreement before lopping around in a wide circle. Someone was clearly happy that the mood had shifted.]
no subject
[By now he's abandoned the idea that this is the Ellimist's doing. He most likely would have showed himself by now if it was. Tobias' Starly chirps happily, hopping up and down on his shoulder at the prospect of traveling.]
no subject
[She grins. What was another adventure int he midst of a war after all?
She glances around. Hm which way should they go? At least one of the routes should lead to a town or something.]
Let's try this way.
[And off she goes.]
no subject
Looks like you've got a friend too, by the way.
[He says, jerking his head to gesture at the Houndour trotting next to her.]
no subject
[Having it follow her around has probably been the weirdest thing since she first saw Jake turn into his dog Homer.
She shrugs.]
But they seem content with the whole thing. Like this is completely normal.
no subject
[It's like she's glued to his shoulder, seriously.]
no subject
[It sounded more frustrated than she really meant it too. Honestly, she was sort of excited to figure out their purpose.]
no subject
Who knows. There's got to be someone around here we can ask about it, maybe.
no subject
[Because that would be about normal at this point.]
