Summary: Kato is still excited over receiving a giant carnivorous exploding metal snowflake from Dist, and he wants to know more about his upcoming plans.
Rating: PG at the most, unless something blows up (always possible, with these two).

[It was quite common these days to see Kato lounging about in the labs, admiring his Cryogonal. It was really quite fascinating, what Dist had managed to do to it; the species was frightening enough with just it's icy skin, but with the metal...it was like something out of a nightmare.
Naturally, Kato adored it.
So today, like any other day, he was seated at his desk, running a hand along Cryogonal's side, delighting in how cold the metal was, even through his gloves. It had so much potential for destruction; he run numerous tests on the effects the Metal Coat had on the technique 'Explosion', and all of them had thrilled him. Truth be told, he was almost in awe of his partner...a rare, strange feeling for him, to be so impressed by another scientist and yet, feel no jealousy, only pride...it was an odd sensation, but a pleasant one.
Leaning back, Kato looked over to where his partner was, smirking.]
I need to do something with it, Dist. What do you think? Maybe attack a building...somewhere busy....what do you think?

But you're so close to having the lab be yours, and I'd much rather ensure that someone I trusted had it under their control. Besides - there must be some sort of perk for the partner of the boss, don't you think~?

We turned Ren in together, Kato, and you have done nothing but good work in these labs. You really should go in for a promotion along with me. They would be insane to not grant you one.

[He likewise leans towards Dist, crossing his legs and peering over at him.]
Ideally, we'll be in complete control of these labs. So it's not so much that I've been thinking about my personal promotions, but how we can obtain that power the fastest, and since you're a few ranks above me, it seems more appropriate to throw my support behind you.
[Who knew he could be such a supportive partner? Certainly not him!]
Although I do appreciate the compliments...you may convince me yet. You're getting disturbingly good at the sort of thing, you know~

I am merely stating the truth! You really do deserve it.
But I do understand your reasoning. Out of the two of us, I am the closest to achieving our goal. And no matter who has the higher rank, the other will still be set.
[He's just really surprised Kato's willing to do it this way. He knows Kato, and he knows he'd like to be in a higher rank than just a Technician. They've talked about it numerous times in the past, about how frustrating it is to be stuck in one position. But now they might actually be getting somewhere.
Kato's putting a lot of faith in Dist if he's not worrying as much about his own status.
Moving his chair just a little bit closer, he gently places a hand on Kato's knee.]
If I get that promotion, we're going to have a grand celebration. I can promise you that.

[He's mentioned that smile of Kato's is his weakness, right? Because damn does he look remarkable when he smiles like that. It actually takes him a second to realize he's moved his other hand to brush it against Kato's cheek...
And his kneejerk reaction is to pull back and cough awkwardly, which he inwardly curses himself for doing.]
Ahem, well...we'll just have to see how it goes, won't we? [Augh stop pulling away you weren't overstepping things--] In the meantime, if you need any assistance with the preparation of your new plan, I am free for the time being.

Dist continues that stroking motion since Kato seems to like it. He likes it too. He imagines Kato's skin and hair to be silky smooth to the touch, if he wasn't wearing his gloves right now.
...Okay yeah, they'll have to go do some evil science after this to make up for it.]
Thank you. I know having that information will make me less nervous to do so in the future. It's...quite nice, really.
