ARRIVAL

God knows he would have changed his plans if he knew they would all be here.
He's in the process of spreading out his things on the sand. A towel stretched out with Miriam perched contently on top, Daniel the Growlithe and Yamina the Teddiursa already making a beeline for the water. He's expecting it to be a pleasant day. It's not raining, for once!
Key word: expecting.

Henry, Heather, and Crow arrive a little later than some of the rest-- they'd had to fly in from the Lake of Rage. Not a horrendously long trip, but the sun is up in the sky good and proper by the time they get there.
Their arrival is announced by a fair amount of barking, as a small pack of dogs lopes ahead of the trio and down the beach excitedly-- a Manectric and two Houndooms.
... But wait, where's the Growlithe?
Scar probably isn't wondering that, but if he was, he gets an answer to that question via a big blunt cold nose slamming rudely against his butt.
HELLO STRANGER!!!!
I missed this notif, wtf!

That's right. This guy. In obnoxiously loud trunks that have some sort of horrifying floral pattern on them.]
Can't say I've ever been to the beach before. Well, I live in Goldenrod, but this is a bit different.
[Sorry, Henry. You don't get to be grumpy. Envy's annoying quasi-brother is here!]

[Keep an eye out, anybody in water a little bit deeper. Because Envy absolutely will sneak up from under the surface and leap out for a shark attack.]

But she's dressed for it, in her two piece bathing suit and a little seashell anklet she'd purchased specifically for the outing.
Still.
The ocean looks extremely intimidating up close like this.]

Though it's borderline impossible for him to ignore Lust at this point because she looks absolutely gorgeous in that bikini. And Scar's not exactly in the immediate area, so what's the harm in a little flirting and/or friendly conversation?]
It's kind of pretty.
[The beach is different than being on a pier. He likes it better, though he's not exactly going near the water, either.]
It's different from back there.

Scar had never so much as seen this much water before coming to Johto, and he would be very pleased to keep his ignorance.
It's really cold.
But he'd do pretty much anything for that adorable little Teddiursa, so there he is, sour-faced and in these foolish swimming shorts, wading out into the (did he mention it's cold?) water after Yamina, who is already proving to be a natural swimmer.
Re: THE OCEAN
[After being UNCEREMONIOUSLY DUNKED in the surf an hour or so ago, Henry can be seen out in the waves trying his very damndest to stay on top of THIS Orange Islands bootleg abomination and to keep everybody else the hell away from it because FUCK YOU GUYS.]

POKEMON SHENANIGANS

[He sits upon a large convenient rock.]
[He breathes in.]
[A croak may draw your attention.]
[You may look towards him.]
[You may lock eyes.]
[And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.]

[So there's Chimera the Tyranitar lying half buried in the sand, sunbathing. There's a very slow and lazy trickle of a sandstorm clouding the air around him...but he'll probably get up to play if anyone can get him to move.]
[Lucky the Houndoom is having an awesome time barking at the surf, chasing the waves as they retreat and running away as they surge back forward. At other points in the day, he seems to have found a frisbee and will be trying to get anybody to play fetch with him.]
[Shunsui the Gyarados is also having a good time, being his big sea-serpent self out in the water. Call him over and get a ride!]
[Juliet the Vaporeon is sitting calmly in the shallows up to her shoulders, supervising her two adopted poke-children. Carl the Aerodactyl is alternately soaring and chasing Wingulls and diving down to the shore to try catching Krabbys in the sand. Que the Goomy is...uh...just floating near Juliet, spread out on the surface of the water like some kind of slimy lavender pancake.]
Re: POKEMON SHENANIGANS
[There aren't any leash laws on the beach.]
[Rampaging around kicking up sand and shaking water all over the place are an extremely fat and shaggy Growlithe, an uncomfortably-speedy Manectric, and two enormous Houndooms who aren't above snatching up enticing objects from under umbrellas and running off with them, refusing to relinquish them.]
[Back in the dunes behind where all the towels and umbrellas are set up tough, a large white object sits happily in a little hollow in the sun-warmed sand. After helping ferry the kids to this party in the first place, Sunny is perfectly content to watch all the fun from afar.]

Even if the chimera hadn't all been killed, he doesn't think that Envy would have ever come around on his own.
He's not sure if he likes it here or not. It's strange and probably not in a good way. He isn't sure what to do with himself. It's not like he's actually living on his own here, surrounded by his Pokemon and... people he could probably consider friends if he thought about it long enough.
Still, it's not one of those things he's good at talking about, so the best plan is to sit alone for a little while and contemplate things. Because the social guy brooding alone at a party isn't a sign that something is up or anything.
Martel will be trying her hardest to get the attention of anyone she can since dragging Greed away from the fire appears to have failed for the time being.]

Miriam shuffles into his lap, tired from the day. The Ishbalan does what he does best, in social circles. Calm but not entirely content, he sits back and watches.

[But you know... Heather can't remember the last time she felt like this.]
[Flopped against one of the big driftwood logs that had been pulled around in a circle, Heather sits in the light of the fire with a bottle of beer in one hand and a small horde of graham crackers and chocolate bars next to her. She didn't bother pulling on any clothes over her mismatched swimsuit combo, just draped a towel around her shoulders and called it a day.]
[Nearby a pile of damp, sandy fire heaves slowly up and down where Cujo finally collapsed after running around like a locomotive all day long. He's totally dead to the world. Which is probably a good thing because otherwise he'd be bumming burnt hot-dog ends and other scraps off of everybody. The Houndooms Vickie and Huan are on the other side of the log, snorting and halfway-squabbling over part of a hamburger that somebody dropped.]
[Heather doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to them.]
[She's feeling full and tired but somehow wide awake at the same time, even as she gazes at the flames with half-shut eyes.]
[Normally being this close to a big fire would stir old fears in her that she'd never quite been able to get away from, even here. But tonight it's different somehow. It feels... normal. Normal and good.]
