Lightning | Final Fantasy XIII
[Says the pink-haired woman crouched by a panting Arcanine, hands in the giant lion-dog's ruff of fur. They're both calmer than one would expect for someone dragged here, but given the Arcanine it's likely not her first dance. Not with this, at least.
Nor with her furry companion, but the moment she lets go of that fur the Arcanine is off like a shot and she heaves out a sigh. Honestly...she takes off after her dog, easily sidestepping obstacles in the way.]
Lucky! Lucky, heel!
[Watch yourselves, folks. That's a very speedy fire-dog and Lightning herself is no slouch either. A crash would suck on top of everything else going on.]
no subject
Warning: second Arcanine incoming.]
no subject
yes she's crashing right into him in a puppy tussle despite not being puppy sized anymore. That whining is happy and she's licking him like mad. No tape this time yay! Oh she's missed you!
for her part, Lightning's just taking this opportunity to catch up and look around. Lucky only acts that way around one lion-dog, so where's Cecil in this crowd? Has to be around here somewhere...]
no subject
And Cecil's in there somewhere alright. Now that he's seen what Flare was looking for, he's approaching and waving at Lightning!
...In pyjamas. Holding a shopping basket that contains TMs, gasping fish, and three swords.
......The swords are waving, too.]
no subject
Well. Unlesss Trainer drags her away but Lightning's more concerned about Cecil right now. He doesn't look as put together as the last time she saw him. She frowns, meeting him halfway and trusting Lucky to stay with her brother.
Waving swords. Just when she thought she'd seen everything this world had to offer.]
Cecil. Been a while.
[Every six months, her memory supplies. No wonder it's a bit chillier than last time.]
no subject
Cecil looks surprisingly cheerful, considering the circumstances and his attire. He doesn't even wince when the swords grab his arm to pull themselves out of the basket.]
It has indeed, Lightning. You've missed quite the excitement, and some... impressive weather phenomena.
[Understatement of the millenium.]
no subject
Worse than that hurricane that hit a while back?
[How long ago would that have been for him? Over two years now? Something like that, she thinks. She's not sure...though she's keeping a watchful eye on those swords. Those are...definitely new to her. What the hell else did she miss?]
no subject
Considering that the one last July also included shark tornadoes, I'd say so. And then it rained cats and dogs in early September, they shed fur everywhere...
[Considering previous hurricanes and other assorted weather-related incidents, he seems perfectly certain that she'll believe that. Not that he'd lie about it, but still.]
no subject
And he's right. Lightning does believe him. The actual hurricane that put a tree on top of her sounds easy in comparison. Shark tornadoes? Etro. She shakes her head, blowing fringe from her eyes.]
Sounds like I got taken out before the worst of the trouble. Lucky for whoever made that mess.
[Yeah she's still the same old Lightning. That much is for sure.]
You make it through those messes alright?
no subject
But unluckily for you. We did have the opportunity to battle two criminal syndicates and their enslaved legendaries in the end, after all. And while there was some damage to both of the regions, we did come out of it with brand new Pokémon species to train.
[He gives the closest sword a gentle pat on the pommel. That's more than alright, as far as he's concerned.]
no subject
On the plus side, Cecil seems to have made it through unharmed and has a stronger team for it. On the negative, that is indeed an annoyed look on her face. So she gets sent back and then all the stuff happens? Just her luck.]
Lucky you. [sigh.] Are they still causing trouble? Those other teams.
[Or Rocket. Cecil wasn't part of the PGC last she knew, but maybe he's heard things.]
no subject
Cecil shakes his head hesitantly at her question.]
I doubt it, considering that they disappeared in a great flash of light caused by some sort of glowing god Pokémon. Then again, they could be causing trouble in their home region instead... But they had nothing to do with the latest attack on Ecruteak, thankfully.
[Not that he's thankful there was an attack in the first place. Far from it.]
no subject
Latest attack?
[She had no control over leaving, she knows, but to hear him talk like this...dammit. She can't even remember what happened to leave but she should have fought it off! Somehow!]
no subject
Explosives, once again. I'd almost wish they had more imagination, but who knows what else they could possibly decide to use in their quest to harm others?
[His one consolation is that crystals cannot be involved in such attacks anymore, but its a small and cold one.]
no subject
There's not much worse than explosives, Cecil. Not even here. [Not with the damage they can cause. She reaches up a hand to rub her forehead, trying to stave off a headache.] Not unless they send the train into a building somehow.
[Which is probably no comfort, and more a worry now than before. Real comforting, this one.]
no subject
That particular plan would be useless in any city other than Goldenrod or Saffron. And I can think of much greater dangers, though they'd surely be beyond the power of all but the mightiest legendaries.
[And hopefully also beyond those, too.]
no subject
[Knew. Having turned her head to check on Lucky, she catches both Arcanines trying to sneak away and frowns, calling to her firedog. Yeah, Flare likely jinxed that plan! But if they run they can outpace the Trainers so come on, brother! Run with her!]
no subject
[Yes, running like the wind sounds like an excellent plan. Fast and faster, before-]
Ragnarok, Lightbringer, Deathbringer, do try to grab him before he gets too far.
[-before a small army of swords starts floating after them. Ruuuuuuuun!]
no subject
Sorry. She has that effect on other Pokemon.
[That effect being getting them charging into danger and adventure. She whistles once, trying to call Lucky back, but her firedog keeps running. Nope not slowing down keep running, Flare!!]
no subject
[Because the Honedges are trying, they really are, but their speed stat kinda sucks. And Flare is quite happy to listen to his sister's advice. They are free! Free to seek out leads and info and maybe lunch!]
no subject
You might have to get them out of a Center. Those three are never going to catch up.
[Just calling it like she sees it. And what she sees is three slow metal swords going after fast firedogs. Even if they catch up, that's not a good matchup. Oh dear.]
no subject
Chances of Cecil and Lightning actually getting leftovers: Somewhere between zero and minus infinity.]
Ah, the disadvantages of having a low level and the speed to match. I think we'll need both swiftness and flight, to catch up to them.
[And they'll need to get started soon, so off to the center he starts walking.]
no subject
And considering that's happening fast, Lightning heaves a sigh and heads after Cecil. Better than standing around here hoping they'll come back.]
If you've still got something with Fly, that'll probably be our best chance. Something that's not a Skarmory.
[Because dat type disadvantage, man. Maybe a Pelipper or something?]

oh hi
Suddenly, Ittoki makes a fast dodge when another Arcanine runs close and Ren... gracefully drops down to the ground. Oh great.]
Ikki, what's the big deal...?
hi friend~!
Well, maybe only him and Lucky herself, now a blur of fire colored fur in the distance. But while Lucky keeps on going--probably chasing some poor Furret--Lightning slows to a stop, reaching down to take Ren's arm and pull him back to his feet.]
You alright?
