The orders are pretty simple. Go in. Wipe out the Team Aqua and Magma Grunts. That's it. So there's not going to be any farewell speeches or anything like that from the Admins because they're of the opinion that you guys have totally got this.

And if you don't...

Well, don't worry about that for now.

Instead, just worry about getting to the nearest base and boarding a helicopter. After that, you've got a short (or long, depending on which base you're heading to) ride ahead of you to some islands in the middle of the ocean, inhabited by a bunch of Aqua and Magma Grunts who have no idea this surprise is on the way. So just do what you do best, Rockets!

And as far as the Admins are concerned what you do best should be to win at all costs. Anything less and well, that would just be an embarrassing return to the region for them. And nobody wants that.

Okay, she's got it now. This guy's all style...if you can call that style, and no substance. There's nothing to worry about here. All she needs to do is take out his stupid giant metal crab tank and whatever else he's got and then throw him out of the base.

She'll just go back to that. She's not scared of you or your stupid furniture, Dist. Whatever ace in the hole you've got, she's not worried at all. Team Magma's going to win the day!

[He's not even recalling his fainted Pokemon. He's just standing there with a stupid look on his face because HOW.]

“No! You're not taking anything! Put me down! Golbat! Do something!”

She's just basically flailing in midair while Golbat...snaps out of its confusion! And finally targets Kadabra with that Swift attack. Looks like it's finally back in the game. But for how long?

[grapeeater]

The Kadabra does put her down. In fact, he just drops her completely, and Micchy walks over as Yoshiro fires back a Confusion.

She better move fast, because Micchy's about to put a foot on her back or stomach as soon as he gets close.

"You know, you guys can be really predictable in the way you use Pokemon."

Crap, crap, crap crap. What to do, what to do? This isn't supposed to go this way. They're supposed to Pokemon battle, not pull stuff like this. Uh...uh...uh...

“Haze!”

It was the only thing that came to mind, and probably won't do anything against Kadabra, but she's going to try and use the black smog Golbat's spewing as a smokescreen to get back to her feet and continue battling.

Uh-uh. Micchy may look like just a skinny teenager, but he was on a dance team. It shouldn't take too much to try to guess where she might go and make a leap for the trainer again to try to knock her down.

Yoshiro just responds with a Psycho Cut. The Kadabra just looks kind of bored at this point.

If anything, that only makes Dist's smirk widen a bit. This is exactly what he was waiting for, and it's his only shot so he better hope that it actually works. He thrusts an arm forward dramatically.

"Try surviving this! Kaiser Dist X-M2, Hyper Beam!"

With a mighty roar, the floating Metagross opens its mouth wide. A glowing yellow light builds up inside its gaping maw until an enormous beam rockets out, splitting through the rushing lava and right toward the Camerupt.

...The Grunt might want to jump out of the way while she's at it, because that beam is large enough to engulf the entire hallway.

It's mobile. That is its primary feature.

[That also probably explains why it's big enough that his feet don't even touch the ground when he's sitting in it.]

And I don't mean it's restricted to traveling along the ground either. It flies.

Like she's going to stand still after that, sorry Micchy, but she's not where you jumped. And her Golbat's got about one good hit left in it, so let's try...

“Astonish!”

Yeah, maybe that'll work. Also:

“Knock it off, kid! I don't know what you're playing at, but this isn't how a Pokemon battle is supposed to go!”

The taunt is definitely still active, and Slasher is so out of it, he doesn't have enough time to figure out that there's a move coming right at him. Bam! Direct hit.

It's now Slasher's turn to get a blank stare from Rideaux.

"Pull it together, Slasher. That was utterly pathetic!"

Those...uh, "words of encouragement" get Slasher to listen, but due to his Taunted state, it just serves to piss him off even more. So instead of waiting for an order from Rideaux, the Zangoose takes matters into his own hands. He decides to go for a Shadow Claw, darting upward to attempt to slash the Golbat out of the sky with glowing purple claws.

Rideaux, meanwhile, is completely unimpressed.

"What are you doing?! You're supposed to wait for an order!"

This might be a good time for the Grunt to take advantage of the bickering.

You better believe she's ducking out of the way into a nearby door. Sucks about Camerupt though. It takes the full hit of the blast getting knocked back and smashing through the wall at the end of the hall. Apparently Kato's not the only one wrecking the base's walls today.

“Are you crazy?”

Serious question here as she ducks her head back into the hall. And since Metagross should need to recharge...she'll cautiously throw a level 83 Golbat out there too.

“Confuse Ray!”

Let's just try and keep it from doing that ever again.

Dammit. At least he can recover pretty well.

"Maybe not the ones you'd like to be in. But here you are."

Yoshiro goes for another Psybeam, undeterred by the Astonish. Thankfully the flinch chance isn't too high for that one.

"Is this really all you've got?"

Shadow Claw. Ouch. That sucks for his Golbat. Still alive, but wow that was not fun. Meanwhile, this Grunt sees an opportunity and he's darn sure going to take it.

“What's the matter? Having a problem over there?”

Grunt used Taunt! ...was it super effective?

“Better get your head in the game, or you'll be pulled under by the tide! Golbat, Confuse Ray!”

Yeah, taunt plus confusion. Let's just make that Zangoose's life suck more if he can.

And Golbat faints!

“Clean out your ears!”

She's apparently regained her composure now that he's stopped trying to do...whatever that was. Seriously, all of you guys need to learn manners. This is not how Pokemon battles are supposed to work.

“I already told you there's more where that came from.”

Case in point, ANOTHER level 41 Golbat.

“Bite!”

And here we go again.

The second she hears that incredulous voice, Ilya turns a pair of gleeful, malevolent eyes on the hapless grunt. She stands tall (well, as tall as she can get) on the back of her loyal Pokemon and grins widely under the brim of her rocket hat.

"Invading, of course." She answers coolly, pulling out a pokeball. "Typhon, deal with her!"

The ball pops open to reveal a roaring Garchomp, who stares down at the grunt with a wide open mouth showing off her sharp teeth, and a pair of narrowed eyes. She doesn't charge immediately, but the guard better get her own Pokemon out quick...

{Oh stop it, you're just going to make him cackle more...]

This is the true power of Team Rocket, fool. I bet running sounds a little more appealing now, doesn't it?

[Apparently he's going to try and help you with that decision, as he's recalled his Camerupt in exchange for his Hydreigon.]

So as some observers might have noticed, a lot of the Grunts here don't really have the Pokemon capable of repelling the intruders. And this Grunt's not an exception. So her eyes widen when she sees that Garchomp, because wow, no. She's not in any position to deal with the rampaging crab tank or Garchomp and it's sharp scary...like everything basically. And the turbine head things. Comparing Garchomp to something is hard.

So she's going to turn and start running yelling for backup or someone or something. Seriously, where's the boss with his Kyogre when you need him?

Odds are nobody's going to come help out since right now everyone else is busy, but it might be a good idea to cut off her attempts to draw attention to what's going on.

Unfortunately for the poor girl, the giant dragon jet-plane is much faster than she is. As she tries to flee, Typhon zips in front of her, blocking off her path of retreat and snarling down at her. Talos takes another couple of steps forward, boxing her in between a Garchomp and a Metagross.

"I don't know if I should mock you for trying to flee or praise your wisdom in knowing you don't have a chance." Ilya stares down at her, completely unimpressed. "Unfortunately, I'm in a hurry, and I don't have any time for a game of Meowth and Rattata. Talos. Attack her mentally."

With a disturbing lack of hesitation, the Metagross's eyes begin to glow a bright, piercing red. Whatever it's charging up, the Grunt probably isn't going to have much time to counter it.

[grapeeater]

"Yes, but you've yet to impress me. Or make any sort of impact, really."

Oh come on. Do you guys just hate using different types? The Bite hits, and Yoshiro wavers a bit. Not an encouraging sign... that took out a good chunk.

"Let's take care of that one, too."

The Kadabra's eyes flash as it uses Disable. No dark-type attacks for you.

[He knows this is a different world with different rules and expectations and all that, but he still can't help but roll his eyes at this (lack of) security. This is the best they got, huh? He nods briefly at Parker as she goes off. This part's his to play.

...

You know, now he actually does feel a little bad. But only a little.

His steps are quiet, but his approach other than that is very casual as he goes right up to the grunts.]

[You know what time it is after that greeting? If you guessed 'let's punch a pirate in the head' time, then congratulations, you win the prize! He's going for the male grunt first, intending a quick knockout. If there's one thing Eliot is good at, it's hitting hard and hitting fast. Here's hoping these two are as slow as they look.]

[From Schuldig's point of view, that would suggest that this guy is at least part telepath, and that means he just abruptly got a lot more interesting than he was about thirty seconds ago.]

I dunno, I think dirt gets a worse rap than it deserves to begin with! I mean, I guess it's dirt-y, but it grows stuff and that's a good thing.
