So Make A Wish On Heaven

Who: Participants of the Dream Plot!
Where: In your dreams!
When: Anytime your character is asleep on April 17th!
Summary: As promised, this is a catch-all log where people can post a character's dream as a top-level comment and allow other holders of our Mysterious Feathers™ to come visit them! Remember that the content of your dream is entirely up to your discretion, but we ask that you only have one, and to please also warn for content as needed!
Rating: PG, and please warn for threads that may go higher!
Log:

[Under the light of the full moon, the Mysterious Feathers™ begin to glow.

In the hours that follow after they sprawl out to sleep, those who had the good fortune (or at least the insatiable curiosity) to pick up one of those feathers earlier in the week will come to discover that something very strange is happening across the regions of Johto and Kanto. There's a saying about what happens when you let your mind wander; this time, though, it's a little more than just one's mind that's going wandering, as dream after dream stretches out before you like a horizon just begging to be chased.

Don't worry about getting lost, dreamers; as real and vivid as they may seem, your surroundings are really only visions and illusions, and in the end the failsafe way to escape from them is to simply wake up. If and when you do, you might feel perfectly well-rested or as on-edge as if you'd just jolted awake from a nightmare; like the dreams themselves, there's really no telling how the experience will play out for you, being different and unique to everyone.

But for now, you've got the whole night ahead of you, filled with places to go and people to see. Might as well make the most of it while it lasts...]

She really would be.

Common sense dictates that creepy infants made of T H E V O I D are probably not to be trusted! C'MON, PEOPLE!

Keeping the babies firmly in the corner of her vision lest they try anything else, she carries on-- but the silky, slithering maternal voice sends the hairs on her neck up even more than the Gate Children did. Her eyes widen automatically, an instinctive attempt to gather in more light to bring the darkness into focus.

Slowly, her fingers curl into fists.

Shouting over her shoulder to Envy to ask him who else might be back here occurs to her, but well, he's already out of view, and she's already clearly in the presence of something. So she just speaks, tone flat and no-nonsense.

"I'm not Envy. Who's there?"
exeggutorhead: (calm)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-05-08 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh? And who are you then? One of his friends?"

The voice sounds pleasantly--or unpleasantly, honestly--amused at the very idea. It doesn't sound too close by, even as quiet and calm as the tone is, but farther down the length of the chain.

"You must think you are, to have come back here."
foolishwren: defeat the enemys (IT'S TIME TO END THIS ONES AND FOR ALL)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-05-12 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
In a flash, Heather knows exactly who this is.

Not even in that way that you just know things in dreams.

It's an even deeper certainty than that.

The grinding of her own molars blots the voice out for a second. She's not going to give anyone or anything the satisfaction of getting defensive and sounding like she has to prove something. She doesn't think, she knows.

So instead she says simply: "Damn straight. Now come out where I can see you."
exeggutorhead: (surprise)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-05-17 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
There's a peal of light laughter from the darkness.

"I don't take orders from deluded children. You sound so certain...you wouldn't be if you knew. I'm the only one who's ever had a use for the sort of monster he really is, you may as well find a better friend now and save yourself the trouble."

Back on the cliff, Envy is starting to get decidedly antsy. Heather hasn't said anything that he can hear in longer than he'd like. He calls out, although by the time it reaches Heather's ears it's not very loud at all.

"HEY! Heather, can you hear me?"
foolishwren: who is she (where did that other dog come from)

here she com

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-05-20 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
The woman-- or what Envy's mind can come up with as a substitute for the actual thing-- apparently knows precisely what not to say to Heather Mason. And she went right ahead and said it.

Her fingers curl inward into fists, so hard that her nails leave indents in her palms.

She can hear Envy's voice faintly in the background, but it takes her a moment to decide if she's going to answer or not. After a beat, she calls back-- "YEAH, gimme a minute, man, I've got something to take care of back here! I'll be back soon!"

Then she cracks her knuckles.

And steps forward into the darkness.

"Lady, I don't give one single shit if you're the only one he's useful for. He can lie around on the couch like a slug watching soaps and eating chips for all I care, as long as he saves some for me. Friends don't need to be useful. And they don't need to be the best one out there, either. There is such a thing as having more than one friend, you know. Anyway, you had your chance. Now the deluded child's comin' to find you."
exeggutorhead: (calm)

oh shit son

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-05-27 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Hm. So optimistic, for your friend who isn't even real."

It isn't long before Heather finally finds the source of the voice. The woman's appearance is vague, almost cobbled together as though made from a lot of different impressions. She's wearing an elaborate period ballgown, and she's standing beside a rock that almost looks like a person sitting hunched-over. Her hand rests lightly on top of the rock.

And in that rock, where the "person's" hands would be resting on its knees...that's where the chain ends.

The woman smiles, and her appearance solidifies into the one that Envy most recently saw her in: a young, black-haired girl. She laughs.

"And what do you intend to accomplish here?"
foolishwren: you fucking perceiving over there? comprehending? BEHOLDING even? bitch (you fathoming? huh?)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-06-04 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you bitch.

"I'll show you real," Heather can't help but mutter under her breath as she continues forward into the darkness. When the shape almost MATERIALIZES out of the gloom, she comes to an abrupt halt, but only long enough for her brain to ascertain just what she's looking at.

Then she's moving forward again, with no hesitation whatsoever in her gait or expression.

Dante's appearance is a surprise.

She'd expected someone older-looking-- perhaps not ENTIRELY decrepit, if she was still around after the hundreds of years that Envy had apparently existed, she'd probably found ways to avoid looking like the Cryptkeeper. She'd expected, to be entirely honest, someone like Dahlia Gillespie.

Not the young woman in front of her.

Hell, she doesn't look that much older than Envy does.

But even the surprise doesn't remove the hardness from her voice.

"I intend to fuck you up, ma'am, but I'll settle for getting that chain. Give it to me."

She doesn't care that it's embedded in a rock, OBVIOUSLY DANTE IS THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR ITS EXISTENCE SOMEHOW SO.

If this weren't a dream, if Dante was the actual thing, Dante would have certainly reacted to the threat, even if only with annoyance. But she's only a projection of Envy's head, and one that's far away and out of sight of his actual "self" right now.

In his head, she's always calm and entirely in control of the situation...and in a nightmare, all the more frightening for it. Unruly monsters aren't something to bother over.

So that smug, disdainful little smile stays unmoving on her face.

"As you can see, I'm not the one holding it. How could I give it to you?"
foolishwren: Or do you just rip a hole in your chest and let the locusts fly randomly into the keyboard? (do you like... THINK before you type?)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-06-06 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh.

She KNOWS this is a dream, and not even one of her own at that, but this witch's face is downright infuriating.

"Don't give me that shit. You expect me to think you're just hanging out in this spot because it's comfy??"

But Dante does have a point.

There's not much Heather can do about it if it's stuck in a rock. Lifting a leg, she plants a foot on it and attempts to give it a shove to see if it has any give to it.

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-06-13 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Dante doesn't make any move to stop her. It's as though she's more of a projection or a talking mannequin than a real, living person.

The chain sticks at first...and then starts to come loose with the grinding scrape of metal against rock. At least until Dante finally moves enough to place her hand back on the rock, and the chain sticks where it is.

"Did you think it would be that easy? He belongs to me, he always will."
foolishwren: Show yourself, Coward. i will never log off (who tf is screaming "Log Off" outside??)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-06-13 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The give of the chain is an unexpected-- but not unpleasant-- surprise, and Heather starts to yank it out hand over hand... until Dante stops her.

Her eyes narrow.

She knew that bitch was holding that thing somehow...

"Does he? Does he really?"

With a growl, she lets go of the chain. The time for talking is fast approaching its end.

"Well, I've got news for you. People aren't property. And even if they were..."

She strikes out with one arm, quickly and forcefully, snatching the front of the woman's dress (if she can) and yanking her forward, conveniently into the clenched, fisted knuckles of the other hand.

"Property can be confiscated."

Well, Heather has finally managed to shut Dante up.

She doesn't resist being grabbed or pulled forward, in this dream she doesn't have the autonomy for that. But punching her feels real enough, and seeing the blood stream from her nose--it smells strongly of rot and decay--is probably very satisfying for Heather.

Less satisfying is the fact that the dream Dante doesn't actually make any noise or indication that she's just probably had her nose broken, keeping that same smugly neutral expression.
foolishwren: I'LL EAT YOUR GIRLFRIEND YOU PIECE OF SHIT IM FUCKING CRAZY!!! (YOU THINK YOU GET TO KILL ME???)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-05 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Heather's not arrogant enough that she expects a single punch to somehow devastate this apparently-immensely-powerful woman-- but well, she did at least expect some kind of reaction.

Sure, it's satisfying-- but not as satisfying as it should be.

Lip curling, Heather gives the woman a vicious shake, fingers still curled into the dress.

"What, cat got your fucking TONGUE?! Bitch!"

Furiously, she reaches out with the punching hand to grab at the chain, yanking on it hard. Fine, she can just keep that shitty-ass smarmy look, but she won't stop Heather from taking the chain.
exeggutorhead: (calm)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-07-20 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Dante still doesn't fight back, simply allowing Heather to shake her like a ragdoll. And this time, Heather is able to pull the chain out the rest of the way, and it slides loose of the rock to hit the stony ground with a rattling clink.

Dante shakes her head, that look still firmly in place...save for a slight crease of annoyance in her brow that, if Envy were here to see it, would have turned his veins to ice whether or not she could actually do anything in this dream world.

"Such a troublesome child. If only you'd had some proper discipline. But there's no helping some."
foolishwren: and I'm abstinence till i die (my name is Sprite Pepsi)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-21 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Unencumbered by whatever force had been holding it there, the chain pulls free in Heather's grasp.

And she wastes no time gathering it up in loops in that free hand, growling, "Trouble is my middle name, lady."

It's as the chain rattles in her hand that an idea pops into her head. More than an idea. A notion. A cruel one.

Straightening up, her fist still buried in Dante's dress, she holds up the chain.

"Why don't you take a WALK with me?"

In swift, brutal jerks, she whips the chain around and around the young woman's neck.
exeggutorhead: (surprise)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-07-21 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
If nothing else, having a chain jerked around her neck really shuts Dante up, although she opens and closes her mouth, making strangled sounds as though she's trying to continue talking. She also reaches her hands to the loops, but only with that same useless, puppet sort of motion she's had the rest of the time. There's no real fight to it.

Taking her for that walk won't be difficult.

Meanwhile, back on the cliff, Envy is just growing INCREASINGLY CONCERNED. HE HASN'T HEARD FROM HEATHER FOR A WHILE. WHAT'S HAPPENING??
foolishwren: who is she (where did that other dog come from)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-21 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Poor Envy.

Fortunately, he'll be getting an answer soon enough.

It starts with that one chain leading back into the shadows starting to give. Then he'll hear the clanking, and sound of something being half-walked, half-dragged.

And then Heather herself appears, head low, yanking Dante along behind her on the very same chain that is holding Envy himself.

HERE ENVY.

SHE'S BRINGING YOU A PRESENT.
exeggutorhead: (whut)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-07-21 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Envy just stares, gaping in confusion like a fish who's just been unexpectedly yanked out of the water.

Of all the things he could have expected to see when he felt the chain start to give, when he heard those footsteps...

Heather dragging his former master by the chain, and not just dragging but yanking her along, while Dante doesn't do a damn thing to stop it...it's safe to say that this is never a sight he would have expected to see EVER.

He can't even find words until she's gotten closer.

"Heather, what...?"
foolishwren: except the bike is on fire and you're on fire and everything is on fire and you're in hell (life is so easy its like riding a bike)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-21 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Found what was holdin' you down," Heather grunts as she nears, yanking on the chain with a violence that is... while perhaps deserved, still unnecessary. With a hearty, jovial grin that nonetheless seems to hold hardness behind it, she slings the chain forward to bring the puppetlike woman down to the hard ground at Envy's shackled feet. "Say hi to your SON, bitch!"
exeggutorhead: (off guard)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-07-21 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
By now, the chain is tight enough that Dante can't do anything but gurgle as she's thrown to the ground. And if Heather looks more closely at where she'd been grabbing the woman's dress before, now that they're in the light...there's clearly rotting flesh under the torn and stretched fabric, just barely visible.

She reaches a hand in the direction of Envy's ankles, hoarsely whispering his name in a cloying, pleading tone. He shuffles back away from her hand, staring down at her with widened eyes. Mainly out of lingering shock, but there's the tiniest bit of fear there too, even if she hasn't made any moves to fight back or transmute. He doesn't know what to think about all this. He doesn't even know where to start thinking.

Absently, he had noted that vicious yank, noted the hardness behind his friend's out of place grin. He might not be AS concerned about it as, say, your average person would be. But it's DEFINITELY unexpected coming from her, and honestly is weird and concerning enough that he notices. He finally wrenches his eyes off Dante and up at Heather, uncertain.

He's not going to help his ex-master up. But he's not going to do anything ELSE to her either.

"So...now what?"

What else can he say? Maybe if he was properly awake, maybe if he hadn't been so surprised, he'd ask her what she was doing and why she was treating Dante in much the same manner as he would once have treated an Elric. For now, he's stuck on not wanting Dante right there looking up at him.
foolishwren: guess that makes me HOTTER than U (you're cooler than me??)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-23 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
If Heather had stopped to think for like.... five seconds, she might have realized that springing someone's creepy abusive mom on them without warning is kind of an awful thing to do, even if she's bound in chains and helpless.

But she's grinning at Envy like a dog that just brought its master some semi-chewed-on slippers.

"Whatever you want! Look, she can't do shit."

She aims a none-too-gentle kick at Dante's side.
exeggutorhead: (Gluttony are you okay)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-07-23 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Envy isn't nearly as enthusiastic about this opportunity as Heather might have expected him to be.

In fact, he's pretty much the opposite of enthusiastic. He doesn't wince when Heather kicks Dante, but he sure doesn't make any moves to follow her example.

He doesn't think that his legs would go through with it even if he tried.

It's a delayed response, but he does manage to force out a weak laugh, his eyes firmly back on Dante now and his voice feeling like it's coming from a long way off, "No, she can't. But...maybe you should just get rid of her."

If it were Hohenheim, he'd be all over this. But it's not, and he doesn't want to admit that he can't.
foolishwren: I LOVE YOUR WORK!!!! (ohmygod danny devito!!!)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-25 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
At first, Heather looks a little confused when she looks up from her captive to her friend.

WHY WOULDN'T HE WANT THE SATISFACTION HIMSELF?

Here in dreamland, all the genuine logic and understanding she'd shown towards his admitted difficulty turning on his master is a little beyond her grasp-- her bloodthirst is in charge right now, and she's clearly excited to be sharing it with her pal!

But SOME part of what he's saying gets through to her, because some measure of realization dawns on her face, and she nods.

"Oh yeah? I think I can do that for ya."
exeggutorhead: (come what may)

[personal profile] exeggutorhead 2015-07-26 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
He's seen some of that bloodthirst before, back when they were fighting their way through that nightmare castle. But that had been directed at monsters that were actively trying to kill the two of them.

This is a little bit different.

But he can worry about THAT surprise later, he just wants Dante gone. Even chained and helpless at his feet, she's still frightening, he can't believe that she won't somehow do something. So it's a relief when Heather agrees.

"Whatever you want to do, I don't care. Just get her out of here."
foolishwren: *unshe/theys my katana and slices u in half* (yea... i'm a she/they...)

[personal profile] foolishwren 2015-07-26 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
All righty then, Envy.

Thy will be done.

Looking down to the ensnared woman at her feet, Heather bends down with a cruel sneer.

"Y'hear that? Your so-called 'property' says I can do whatever I want with you! That'll be fun, huh? GET UP!"

She straightens up again, wrenching Dante upright with her.
