[Anything's better than the warzone that is their world right about now. Even this chaotic place.
Even giant firedoges who spent a good half hour refusing to let their former trainer up from the ground, more wriggly happy whining and licks than regal near-legendary status. By the time he spots Nanao, Hitsugaya's had a bit of time to clean his face of firedoge slobber, but Hina is sticking uncomfortably close even as he makes his way to his mother figure. Some things, it would seem, never change.]
Seems this place hasn't had its fill of us yet.
[Only question is, how long will it keep them this time? And does she remember this time or is he alone in that respect? He almost doesn't want to know.]
[He missed her too. Hence the returned hug, and his soft chuckle. He missed this. For all its chaos, Johto's got a peace to it that he can't say their world's ever going to have. And that's actually a good thing right about now, really.]
You won't be saying that if your team finds you.
[Kiyone, especially. He remembers those antics, momthing! And is so very glad you seem to, as well. So very glad indeed.]
I get the feeling their reunions would be messier than Hina's was with me.
{Don't say anything, but she does hold that hug for.... quite a while. For once, there's no threat breathing down her neck, no stress, no piles of paperwork. They're in a different world - and you know what? She wouldn't have it any other way.}
That's the reason I haven't checked, yet. I'm slightly concerned about who I'm carrying around with me.
{Ok, she finally lets go - but she only takes a step back, brushing her hands on his shoulders. So much fur..!}
I'd probably end up climbing a tree just to escape them.
[As if he's in any hurry to let go this time. It's been...quite a while since they could do this, hasn't it? He's missed it with an ache in his chest that clogs up his throat as she pulls away, forcing him to clear it before he can speak.
What? Life was getting hectic and he's missed this!]
You could just ride Hina away. She wouldn't mind.
[Barely a foot behind him--and not at all sorry for shedding all over him--Hina woofs softly. Hello, mother of pup! She wouldn't mind sprinting you both away from Hiyone, no.]
{Oh god, son, don't you start with the whole politoed-in-the-throat business or she'll be crying too, and then things will get extremely emotional extremely quickly.}
Hey girl. {Don't mind her, she'll just be reaching over to give Hina's nose a scritch.} I see you already gave Toushirou a warm welcome home, huh?
[Nope no politoed in the throat! Just a poliwag he's gone and cleared out, watching Hina lean into that scritch with a very pleased look upon her furry face.
SHE'S A GOOD DOGE YES SHE IS OF COURSE SHE WELCOMED TRAINER HOME.]
Very warm. She wouldn't let me up for almost half an hour.
[Hence. The fur. Not that he's overly upset about it. He missed her, too.]
{Nanao can't help but laugh at Hitsugaya's words - and it's the warm laugh of someone who's seen those kind of pokemon/trainer shenanigans (and been on the receiving end of them!) many times before.}
I'm not surprised. Were I an Arcanine, I may have done the same thing. {she's still wondering if she could shower him in headkisses without too many grumbles}
[Well there'd be a token grumble but at this point, honestly? He wouldn't really mind much. He's missed her--this bond--too much to really care about his pride anymore. Hina snuffles at Nanao, licking her fingers a bit but otherwise keeping her position. So not moving.]
If you're not careful, she might do it to you, too.
[Maybe. ...Probably not. Still!!! He smirks faintly, tucking his arms into his sleeves out of old habit. He's missed this place.]
[Momthing hugs! Hina's tail immediately starts to wag, the swoosh-swoosh disturbing dust and loose leaves behind her, but she's a very happy giant firedoge.
Seems they weren't the only ones who missed this. Makes sense, of course; Hina always was a cuddler.]
{There's something so comforting about hugging a giant fluffy walking furnace - and don't think she doesn't hear that wagging tail.}
Hmm, I wonder if I have someone who can play with her... {She shifts back a little, and runs her fingers over the pokeballs at her waist - and grins when she feels a familiar sigil.}
Here's someone. {And here's Shuuhei the Houndoom! .......nanao did not think this through, for now she is the one getting many puppy kisses while pinned down.}
[Yep. He knew that would happen eventually. Don't mind his laugh, Momthing. He's just going to turn away to hide the smile now, while Hina barks and begins to bounce. Shuuhei friend, Shuu-friend!!! Come play come plaaaayy!
Or. You know. Drown your trainer in puppy kisses and then play. She can wait! She is a patient firedoge! Mostly.
Hitsugaya, on the other hand, lets the laugh out of his system and then shakes his head, turning around. He still sounds amused, though. And isn't that a rarity.]
[Plaaaaaaaaaaayy!! With a bark, Hina bounds off alongside Shuuhei as if she's not over a hundred and fifty kilos of firedoge, tail going like a banner in the wind. Keep up, Shuu-friend! She knows the best places to play!
Yeah, trainer's not even going to try and keep up. He's just going to smirk, stepping over to offer Nanao a hand up. ...What? He's got enough muscle to pull her up!]
[He's in no hurry to let go, either. Knowing this place could take their memories and send them home at any moment, he's in no hurry. Her hand doesn't quite dwarf his, but his fingers still almost disappear beneath hers.]
I'd be more worried about wild ones they run into. Hina can be very enthusiastic with her playmates.
Shuu's had plenty of experience with herding babies, don't worry. {Her house was always full of tiny pokemons. One of the (debatable) perks of being a breeder.} He'll keep her out of trouble. Hopefully.
[He remembers those teenies. There was a reason he never let Hina out of his room unless she was in her ball. All those littles and the giant firedoge? Baaaaad idea. He shrugs.]
{Nanao hums in agreement. If you ran out of money, you could always go beat up some trainers somewhere, and the Pokemon Centers would let you sleep there for free...}
No war, no Hollows... {no fuckin quincy} Some of the wildlife could be a little more polite, but what are you going to do, really?
[Fresh air, food and shelter, friends and family...granted that last one is more dependent on the whim of what or whomever is bringing them in in the first place, but still. No war is a blessing in their line of work.]
The wildlife does give them a wide berth most of the time, as well. It's hardly a terrible life.
Yes, but cities do get boring after a while. {Well.} The background music starts to grate, you know?
{But she can concede the point about the wild Pokemon. They'd certainly kept away from her house... although maybe that was because of the near constant ruckus that was happening.}

{Wow, Hitsugaya, you have no idea of how pleased she is to see you literally alive and well and not a weird kind of zombie.}
{.....even if you are covered in enough fur to make a cat lady sneeze.}
No, but you know what? I'm not complaining.
{Have a hug, sonthing. She missed you.}

Do you want some help?

{Nanao sounds surprisingly cheerful for someone being pinned by a dog the size of a horse.}
I'll be fine. Go play, Shuues. {She gets two big licks and then Shuuhei goes bounding off, bouncing like he's a tiny Houndour. Play! Let's plaaaaaay!}
no subject

We won't be seeing them again for a while.

{Nanao will also accept that hand up. She's not too proud.}
They can take care of themselves, it's alright. {She hasn't let go of his hand yet, though.}

[Probably.]
no subject
He's pretty loud, that's for sure. {Nanao brushes off some of Hina's fur, and stretches.}
It's pretty nostalgic, being back here. Makes me feel... younger, somehow.
no subject
Less things to worry about. [He looks up at her, shrugging one shoulder.] That's how it's always felt.
[No divisions to run, no wars to fight, no people reliant on them...their teams are pretty self sufficient, all things considered. Easier this way.]
no subject

[There was a reason he'd never done more than make the crossing through Union Cave one time. That music grated on his nerves so hard.]
Besides, you can just move from city to city if it gets too annoying. It's still easier than getting attacked every few steps.
[Or, you know, paralyzed because you ran afoul of a flock of sheep. Again.]
