[In the appropriately named Cherrygrove City, there stands a man. A strong man. A capable man. A man who is approximately the size of a refrigerator and radiates a standoffish aura with every move he makes. A man who, despite the school uniform and ripped cap clearly marking him as a student, is undeniably a masculine force of nature, if you know what I mean.
This man is standing on the beach in Cherrygrove City, staring out toward the horizon in a cool and heroic way.
(This man is also flanked by an adorable little Pancham, which is kind of ruining the effect of things but you know what, we can't have everything.)
And as the man regards the unfathomable waves stretching off toward the place where the sky begins, there is only one thing on his mind.
Is this the work of an enemy Stand user?
...
Okay, so technically it's two things, but the other is I wonder if there are any whales out there, and that's bad for maintaining his image, narratively speaking, so let's just pretend like there's only the one thing.]

Training Center: Celadon
[Ilya wakes from her sleep to find something just slightly off...
Yawning and stretching, she takes a moment to try to figure out why her nightgown feels so tight. It's almost as if the thing shrunk overnight.
Opening her eyes and looking down at herself gives her another possibility.]
... Okay this is different.
[Time to check and see if anyone else had something similar happen to them. Don't mind the strange woman with white hair going around and knocking on your doors, everyone.]
Literally everywhere
[Once she's gotten used to the new bod and figured out what's going on (as much as anyone knows, anyway) Ilya has come to the conclusion that there's only one thing to do.
Bother. Everyone.
And so off she goes, taking advantage of the warping between cities and routes that keeps happening, with the simple goal of sidling up next to someone and spooking them her way of entertaining herself for the time being.
Hey, why not take advantage of the situation, right?]

[Ludger had no idea where he was. Or what that little Purrloin beside him was supposed to be. It was friendly enough, so he let it tag along behind him. He likes cats. A nice person that passed him by let him know he was in Goldenrod.
Somewhere along the way he got roped into working at a food stand after letting the owner know that the way he was making the crepes was not the proper way.
So here's Ludger, making crepes. He seems to be enjoying himself. His Purrloin is in front of the stand with a leaflet in her mouth to advertise the stand.]

[Around the various cities and towns of both Johto and Kanto wandered a girl in a well-kept and immaculate school uniform. In her arms rested a comfortable Cubone, and in her hand was a peculiar honey-colored gem she kept consulting for some mysterious reason.]
[There was no readable magical signature, so she was confident that a witch had nothing to do with any of this. But even so,wasn't this too strange to fully let her guard down? It was true that the creature in her arms was strangely like a witch's familiar, but when Mami had tried to ignore it, it started crying hysterically until she gave in and picked it up. Further investigation had shown that similar creatures were in abundance here, as well as other people seemingly in good health. It didn't fully put her mind at ease just yet, but for now the situation appeared stable.]
[Just in case...she approached the nearest person and spoke in a reserved, polite voice.]
Excuse me. I don't mean to interrupt, but are you feeling well?
[Olivine City]
[Though her guard hadn't fully lowered, Mami was reasonably sure things wouldn't come down to any sort of a fight. So she paused in searching for the exit out of this place and stopped at a small café for a cup of tea, Cubone in tow. Drawn either by the smell of cake or Mami's own presence, a group of two Gothita and a Gothorita joined her table outside moments later.]
[A little puzzled by this development, Mami soon realized they were looking at her expectantly and concluded (realizing the conclusion was a bit surreal) that they must have wanted to join her.]
[So that was how a magical girl and her Cubone ended up having a cheerful tea party with highly fashionable psychic Pokemon.]

[While he has no idea where he is or how he even got here, there is one thing that Hans knows for sure. Here is a step up from where he had been headed previously- on a ship carting him right back home under circumstances not very pleasant. Truth be told, the moment he turns to see a small horse with a flaming mane trying to sidle up close to his side (to which he promptly jerks away to avoid his pants catching fire) he assumes that this is just a dream. A particularly...vivid one, to be sure.
Beyond the oddity of the flaming pony he's suddenly found in his presence, the biggest thing he seems to be sticking on is how hot it is here. That's enough of a giveaway that this isn't Arendelle and he knows for a fact that it isn't home, either. Not even close. So the best thing he can do is walk the routes as casually as he can, occasionally approaching someone to ask the question that's probably on their mind as well:]
Excuse me. Could you tell me where this is?
[Otherwise he can be found trying to figure out what the heck to do with the Ponyta with him, who seems very shy and unsure of strangers as she tries to stick close to Hans' side. He's familiar with horses at least, and she seems to be responding well enough to his attempts to calm her. At least he discovered before too long that the flames licking down the back of her neck won't actually burn him.]

[Well now.
Unlike most new arrivals in this world today, this one seems surprisingly unalarmed by his current predicament. If anything, his expression is more intrigued than it is shocked or confused as he stands with a Glameow winding slowly around one of his ankles, rubbing against his calf while meowing softly and vying for his attention. She's unlike any cat he's ever seen, but he doesn't try to stop her from keeping him company, either.
Joshua remains unconcerned only because the only thing that feels different here is the fact that, well. This isn't Shibuya, to start. But everything else checks out; he's not feeling drained or weakened in any way, so the only difference here are his surroundings. He can easily tell that he's in the RG, but...where exactly is a complete mystery. Though, in a perfect world, he would rather not be forced to roll with the punches of unexpected circumstance, this one is too curious for him to be too upset about.]
Well well...this is interesting, isn't it?
[It's hard to tell whether or not he's talking to himself or the Pokemon beside him, but she does give a soft chuff of agreement in response as her tail flicks over her head.
Might as well see what this place is all about while he's here.]

[ Wherever you are, before long, you'll here a cry of-- ]
H-hawawa?!
[ There's a tiny Buneary who looks terribly frazzled. It follows its trainer's frantic pacing. Said trainer's arms are flailing a tiny bit, and-- yeah, those are rabbit ears if you were wondering. Don't stare, that's not polite. Didn't your mother teach you better? Unless you don't have a mother, in which case, your teachers are seriously lacking in manners classes!!
Regardless, there's a tiny woman (who very much resembles a rabbit) looking rather panicked, almost like whatever predicament she's found herself in has finally hit. Really, she'd been so shocked that she's existing anywhere outside of a computer that she hadn't really... taken in the fact that her students need her and she's not there to help them. ]
Th-the childwen! What will become of the childwen--?!

[On almost every route and city you may see a rather short-looking man wandering around, not seeming to pay attention to anyone around him. In fact, he seems only preoccupied with staring at his hands for extended periods of time, training his Psyduck despite not talking to it at all, or having the occasional coffee at a cafe.
Honestly this wasn't even the first time something similar to this happened to him, but it was definitely the first time he was stuck in his body that, despite all logic, can't be anyone's but his own, and it kind of bugged him. Still it wasn't enough to not train his Psyduck, whom he already grown kind of attached to.
Eventually, f you're not just seeing Perry wander around, you may see him awkwardly approach you, waving before gesturing to his pokemon. Despite his quietness, he seems to be asking for a battle.]

[There was nothing that out of the ordinary about this. Not yet, at least.
Truthfully, no matter what planet Peridot suddenly found herself upon after crash landing, it would have not changed her current feelings about the situation. That is, to say, she hates it already. Everything on this planet was different and weird. Including the nosepass that trundled after her ever few footsteps she took.
It was quieter then another certain rock being with a big nose, that was for sure.
And so Peridot started walking, up and down the routes, generally trying to avoid the cities and towns since Humans were gross and primitive. She was still concerned about Jasper, and the ship as she saw it crash. Reaching contact with her escort, and possibly the Gem Homeworld, was top priority.]
....Huh? Grrrr.... Errrgh!! [Noises of severe frustration flew from Peridot's moth as her holographic display once again came up with no signal.] First they break my stuff, and then they leave me stranded here! What next!?

[ So, have this old geezer staggering through the routes and cities with a Houndoom at his side. You'll see him attempting to strap a tiny little chair on to the Houndoom - only to be met with resistance from the pokemon. The pokemon growls at him, only for Mr. Burns to growl back. ]

[ This isn't where she should be.
Which is odd in and of itself, because she shouldn't be anywhere but Rapture. Rapture, where she had gone in an attempt to make things right. (Nevermind that "right" meant murder, but the thing's been done and can't be undone.) And the second oddity of the day? The little bird-type creature on her shoulder. Elizabeth has to wonder if some aspect of their personality is taken into account when they receive this... Pokémon. She doesn't exactly have to wonder how a psychic bird fits in with her personality.
Seems like she can't escape the bird motif anywhere.
Well. Nothing to do but to go ahead, right? Elizabeth's no stranger to physical exertion, but this feels different somehow. There's no rush, no desperation in each of her steps.
And there's no one at her side, other than her Natu perched on her shoulder. Luckily, the blood on her face has been wiped clean, but she wishes she could say so for her clothes. They're still ripped and dirty and bloody.
At least she'd gotten out of there--somehow--before the Big Daddy had turned on her.
It's not long before she finds someone else, and she clears her throat. ]
Excuse me. I assume you're as lost and confused as I am?

[Honeyed Soul had just about every sweet and savory treat you could imagine. That is why Beezy is there, along with his Munchlax, both of them eyeing the rows of cakes, and sweet bread, and chocolate.
Someone should probably stop them before they eat the entire building. They'll try it.]
[The routes]
[This world was interesting to Beezy... at least until he got bored with it. Sure, there was one sun instead of three, and the sky itself was blue, and there was no lava oceans or sandworms.
Weird. But still pretty cool!
It was perfect weather for a nap, too. So, it's likely that you'll see Beezy along one of the routes, curled up against a tree, snoring loud enough to wake the local Pokemon.]

[Ah. It's this place again.
He's pretty sure he remembers this place, much in the way that one tends to remember a dream an hour or so after you've already woken up and gotten started on your day — as something distant and faraway, something that felt vivid and clear at the time and in the immediate aftermath, but gradually began to run into faded uncertainty at the edges like a watercolor left out in the rain.
...Hopefully Ax isn't getting himself into trouble again. The woods aren't really a good place for a weird-looking blue horse with stalk eyes and a scythe-blade tail — not because someone is likely to scream alien so much as some ten-year-old will probably get inspired and try to catch him instead. Again.
That said, he somehow knows this is all temporary, and that makes it...refreshing. The urgency of being away from home is alleviated with the knowledge that he'll be back in an instant anyway. And the background music gets a little old after awhile, but it's definitely better than the sound of war and death and screaming.
He wanted, once, to be an average kid again. For all of it to be someone else's problem, even just for a little while.
There's no telling how long this respite is going to last, so he might as well make the best of it.]
Hey, uh, excuse me. I don't suppose you know where I can catch a Pikachu around here, do you?
[LOOK THIS IS POKEMON WORLD AND MARCO WOULD HAVE A FIT, THAT IS AS GOOD A REASON AS ANY TO CATCH A PIKACHU]

[The appearing-on-random-routes thing is pretty hit or miss for some kind of kid in a mask of all things. The empty, open field ones were his least favorite, as he had to go out of his way to walk around people whenever he spotted them up ahead. Needless to say, it was awkward and embarrassing, he often found himself having to speed walk in hopes that others wouldn't try to stop and talk to him.
The ones with trees or tall grasses or even bushes, though? Much preferable. With those, Kafei found himself ducking around and hiding in the foliage. It was perfect really, and it could've stayed perfect if it weren't for the tiny Fennekin following him. Kafei had tried to lose this thing several times, but even when he seemed to wind up somewhere else, there it was, following him like a loyal little dog. Because that's just his luck.
No matter how many times he'd stop behind a tree, the little creature would yip playfully, obviously thinking this was some sort of game. Because as everyone knows, when you need to hide, you just have to have a barking animal next to you.]
Shh, quiet. Shoo, go on.
[He'd even try to go as far as waving his foot at it, in hopes that it'll scare it enough to leave. But nope, Fennekin was here to stay and Kafei couldn't bring himself to just kick the poor thing.
With one last attempt, he picks up a stick and tosses it as far as he can, in hopes that the little fox will finally scram. To his surprise, the animal does take off, only to nab the stick in the air and begin to...eat it. Just straight up eat it. Panicking, he rushes out of hiding and tries to pull it out of its mouth. Last thing he needs to do is murder someone's possible lost pet.]

[So yeah, somewhere there is a teenage girl asleep in the middle of the road. Please do not run her over. She is accompanied by a Jigglypuff, which is sitting on her head and humming to itself. It does not take a genius to figure out what happened here.

[ So there's this guy. He seems to be beside himself with giddiness, so much so that it's making the porygon that's following him around nervous. But oddly enough, he seems to be muttering half to himself and half to his porygon. ]
A porygon! An actual real live porygon! I remember the first games coming out when I was a kid...
[ But there's a sigh as he pulls out his phone. Nope, no reception whatsoever. Looks like his enthusiasm for where he is has died down. ]
Excuse me!
[ And he'll just come trotting up to the nearest person he can find, his pokemon hot on his heels. ]
Is this really the Johto region?

[There are a few things to be grateful for here, Kristoph supposes vaguely; the first is that it's far more open here than what he's used to – not just in comparison to the place he remembers last (though it's a marked improvement over the 10'x7' box), but also in comparison to the high-rises and professional buildings and miles upon miles of concrete that he's used to. It's annoying to cover distance but it's nice, and he's always favored appearances over practicality, and if he's going to be blunt this place is far less claustrophobic.
...The other thing is that if he must be in the company of massive animals, the ones he's got with him seem entirely disinterested in harming him, and while they're a little on the feisty side at least he doesn't have to train these out of using his goddamn hand as a chew toy.
(No one has introduced him to a Deino yet. He would quite like to keep it that way, please and thank you, he's already dealt with one overeager pet who bites everything and everyone.)
He does suppose it's fortunate that he doesn't mind snakes; admittedly, the one he's got is...kind of a lot of snake, it's at least six more feet of snake than he would actually like in his vicinity and even that's pushing it, but it (he? she? Kristoph has no idea and he's not about to ask it because he'd really quite like to keep some of his dignity today) seems to be quite docile in the scheme of things, and it's somewhere around the point that he realizes that he's more concerned with the stupid thing nosing through his bag than he is with being bitten for the reprimand and abrupt taking away of said bag that it occurs to him that he's quite simply lost his mind.
It's been a really, really long week.
But! It's a long week that's culminated in the longest he's been outside in half a year and he doesn't have solitary confinement to go back to anytime soon to his knowledge, so in the end perhaps it's worth it, even if it has left him kind of wandering around in the sort of vague daze usually reserved for tremendous damn tourists who have no idea where they're going, or otherwise dealing with, you know, eleven feet of snake nudging him along when he's staying in one area for too long. Granted, that sort of behavior is usually just met with a look and a really put-upon sigh and maybe some eyerolling, but clearly we can't have everything.]
Yes, right, I know – this would be far less grating for you if I'd been given actual instructions regarding what I'm supposed to do, you know, so don't blame me.
[And talking to the stupid thing as though it understands him because it's been a really long week. At least he seems casual enough about this entire thing, if in a very catlike "I am totally intending to be here doing this very thing right now, yep, absolutely" sort of way.]

Literally Any Town (thanks arceus)
{Oh. Oh no, Nanao remembers this. The constant faint music in the background, the odd looking creatures running about, and nostalgic weight of the set of pokeballs on her hip. She's back in the wonderful, bizarre Pokemon world.
Well, it's better than an actual, literal warzone which is her world right now.
With a shrug of her shoulders, she starts exploring the town, occasionally checking her 'Gear. She's not quite brave enough to check exactly which of her small army of Pokemon is residing in her Pokeballs. Please god don't let it be Kiyone the Alakazam.}

CIANWOOD CITY;
[ There are a number of things that Anna has yet to figure out about this world, but a basic understanding wasn't all that difficult to comprehend. Despite her age, she was considered a Trainer here and had to do what all girls her age did--which was what exactly? Travel the world and enslave a number of these creatures known as Pokemon?
It would be easier, she thinks to herself as her tiny hands ball into fists against her dress. To think of it as recruitment. A simple enough belief, she thought, but where to start? With a powerful ally like her Magmortar to watch over her, she could travel most anywhere. Together they could search for many others who had been left behind by their kin and bring them into their clan.
At least that was the positive outlook she had upon her arrival up until the moment she stepped outside. Realizing quickly she was surrounded by water and enclosed by caves, she does have to wonder how exactly she's meant to begin her Pokemon journey while faced with this problem. ]
You haven't learned the Fly or Surf ability, have you? [ She asks her companion in a monotone. ]
ANYWHERE ELSE;
[ Arceus must have heard the little girl in her confusion and has deposited her elsewhere. Unfortunately... her companion, the large and in charge Magmortar seems to think she needs to be protected by anyone who dares approach her. While their appearances clash (Anna with her doll like features and the Pokemon with his giant canon arms), she doesn't seem all that frightened by the creature guarding her or with the concept of someone burning to a crisp for provoking him. He looks experienced on top of mean so only the brave should approach. ]

SHEEEEP!
[ Finnian chases after a Mareep, laughing all the while. Did Old Man's Sam's fence break again? ]
Gotcha!
[ Finnian used tackle! It was super effective as he managed to finally catch after the running sheep. He gave it a hug, laughing all the while, even as his hair began to stand up and get frizzy from the small amount of electricity ]
Ahahahaha, that tickles!
[ Just as quickly as he started laughing he stops, blinking in confusion as he looks around him. ]
Eh? Eh? ...WHERE AM I!?!? MR. SEBASTIAANNN!
[ He just realized he's not where he just was. He wasn't even near where Old Man Sam was either, so where did this sheep come from? And Mr. Sebastian wasn't coming like he usually did. This isn't good!!! Picking up the sheep as he walked, he looks for the nearest person to ask, maybe he just has a lot of servants! His castle was huge after all. ]
Excuse me! Is this still in Lord Diederich's territory?

[ This was not Shizume City.
Hell this wasn't anywhere that Eric recognized at all!
He had his phone in his hand trying to get the thing to work but also trying to shoo away a dog that was bugging him. Looking all happy and wagging its tail. ]
I don't have time to find out where you belong...
[ When he couldn't get his phone to work and he gave up on trying, he sat down. He's going to have to think of another way of finding out where he was an dhow he can get back to the bar. The dog, Growlithe, whined and gave Eric's face a good lick, trying to cheer him up. It worked a bit if only making Eric smile a little and giving the dog a few pats on the head. ]
You're lost too, huh?
[ It barks in response a small wag of its tail. Hopefully Kusanagi won't mind another dog in the bar until they find out who it belongs to. ]

[... it's good to be back.]
[It's an almost familiar shift by now, when he walks through the same corridor over and over again and the red drapes around him shift and part - but instead of the room with the chairs and the little table, they give way to sunshine and grass and sounds that aren't his own echoed footsteps or distant screaming or smooth jazz.]
[And even though it's only happened once before, it feels somehow both expected and at home, and he smiles when he steps through and out and the curtains disappear behind him, fades into the air.]
[He smiles. And he breathes in.]
[And he starts walking.]

[Yosuke knows pokemon a little. It was really big when he was a kid after all. So he has some idea what's going on after wandering a bit. He looks at the ball with a big doopy grin on his face: no need to stress, this is obviously a dream!
What cool starter would he get? A Charmander, right?! Or maybe a Pikachu...
Instead he can be seen sulking with a ...Sentret on his head, somehow purring even though it's a raccoon-squirrel thing]
Why not just give me a Rattata if you really wanna drive the joke home? Damn it...
