A. July 11th - late afternoon

[It was a long way back to Goldenrod, but eventually they made it before it got too dark. First stop? Honeyed Soul. Rin had a few ideas he wanted to try and start creating before he met up with Roxas. Maybe, if he was lucky, there would be a few coworkers still awake and ready to take on a potential new menu item?

Or Yukio could just sit pretty and taste test everything. If he felt his stomach was up to it.]


B. July 12th - sometime in the morning

[Rin's out and about and ready to meet up with someone in PERSON. It was exciting - and it had a way of making friendships feel a little more real. Just like when he met Al in person for the first time. That had been really cool. Rin taps out a quick message to Roxas, something like:

where r u?
ur not sleeping r u?

...Hopefully Roxas isn't away in dreamland...]

Right!

[Roxas waits patiently, getting one of each drink from the wending machine. Who knows what Rin likes...

He's hoping Rin makes the smart choice and takes the elevator.]

[He really considers taking the stairs two at a time but his Dedenne pulls at his hair a little and points to the elevator just as its doors are opening. Rin dashes inside and rides it all the way up to the top.

Rin may have seen Roxas over the gear but he's never seen the other in person. ...At least, not that he remembers.]

Yo! [But he still recognizes that mop of blonde hair.]

[Roxas turns around and smiles, which turns into a panicked squeak as a now Altaria Sky rushes over to meet this new person. Oh! She saw you on the Gear!]

Sky... You're being rude.

[Sighing, he walks up to Rin with a sheepish look.]

Sorry. She gets excited when she recognizes someone we've talked to.

[Rin hardly minds the sudden ambush. he laughs and holds his hands out in case Sky would like somewhere to perch.]

It's okay! T-Bone's the same with everyone. Oh, this here's Mickey. I don't think you met him.

[Mickey has escaped the Altaria happy attack and he's quietly wondering if he'll ever get his spot on Rin's head back... He makes do with hopping over to Roxas to introduce himself.]

[You might not want to offer to let her perch, Rin. She's bigger than you but might take you up on the offer. She does want to give you a hug, but since Roxas nor Rin has told her it's okay, she refrains.]

T-Bone? Wait... Is that a Dedenne?

[Roxas kneels down and holds out his hand.]

It's a lot smaller than I thought. You should be glad Fuu's not out, Mickey. She likes catching small things.

[...He forgets he's not as strong as he normally is. He's good with hugs though!]

Wow~! She's just as soft as you said she was! [Maybe real clouds were like this?]

Oh, yeah you don't know 'em. T-Bone is my growlithe. He's always excited about something.

[Mickey wanders closer and sniffs at Roxas' hand before reaching out tentatively. Can he climb on? He's inching closer anyway.]

[!!!!Sky is more than happy to return any hugs she's given.]

She really loves being a pillow. It's really hard to stay awake when she insists it's nap time...

Growlithe is one of those striped puppies, right? [They did look cute. But it's not a flying type...

Roxas nods and turns his hand palm-side up over for easier climbing.]

My Noctowl. She's asleep right now, but my other Pokémon are flying around here somewhere.

[GIVE HIM A HUG, GIANT FLUFFY BIRD. Rin could see why it would be hard to stay awake. ]

Hell, I'd sleep with her all day if she'd let me. [Rin Okumura: 15 years old or secretly 10? The world may never know.]

Yeah, he breathes fire too. I used to have a bunch of fire types - that was sorta my thing, I guess.

[Mickey scampers up Roxas' arm until he's made it all the way to his shoulder. He doesn't wait for an invitation as he quickly scouts out the comfort level of Roxas' hair.]

That's good that you let 'em roam like that. I bet they always feel free.

[You will momentarily be completely covered in a fluffy cloud of feathers. She's learned to back up after a few minutes as to no suffocate someone. It's bad enough to make your trainer accidentally pass out...]

She would. She loves attention. [Sky would pamper you with her fluff, Rin.]

I only have one fire type, and that's Bryn my Fletchinder... she's kinda weird.

[Roxas's hair is very soft, Mickey, despite the spikes.]

I don't like putting them in their Pokéballs. When I came here from Kanto, they raced the train. Except Demyx because he's only a Ducklett.

[S-So fluffy! Oh man, he wants one! ...Oh, but would that mean putting one of his own into a PC box? GUH...]

Do you, Sky? I bet Roxas gives you all the attention you'll ever need. [He may not completely understand her response, but he will try his best anyway.

He continues to pet Sky as he turns his full attention back to Roxas.]

Never seen a Fletchinder either. Is it like a fire bird?

[Well, then after a few experimental pats, Mickey burrows into Roxas' hair and makes a tiny nest for himself.]

Mickey! Uh - sorry, if he gets too comfy he might start pulling on your hair... [Mickey looks up at Rin when he hears his name. HI RIN!] I'll get him out for ya.

[BUT WHAT THEY RACED THE TRAIN WTH HOW COOL] It woulda been more fun to race with 'em!

...I don't like the pokeballs either. ...I used to have a Lapras and the only way we could travel was to get her in a pokeball. I tried to stay in towns with lakes to keep her happy.

[Sky sings when she's happy, so she does. Swaying is involved. She loves her trainer. Petting and swaying is a good, too. This bird can't keep a coherent thought for the life of her.]

Yeah. I can always whistle for her. Bryn sticks close to where I am.

[He laughs and tries not to shake his head.]

It's okay! Olette used to do that when she was still a Starly. Sky did it a few times, too.

[The racing comment makes him sigh.] I would have wanted to, but the conductor didn't like the idea.

Lapras? [He doesn't know what that is.]

[That's it, he's sold. It's a singing pillow! What more could a person want?!] You whistle for her? Like you sing along with her?

[Mickey clings and pulls and burrows until he is well and comfortable in Roxas' hair. It's a different smell and the view is brighter, but he still likes it! Rin is relieved to hear that.]

I've never had a pokemon as tiny as Mickey, so it took me by surprise when he first did that!

[But he laughs at that conductor comment.] Seriously? That guy probably hasn't seen any fun in his whole life! Blue - that was my Lapras - she might have been able to show him a lot.

Lapras is like... a giant blue water dinosaur. She needs to swim all the time but I never got the HM for Surf. ...When I left, she was already gone. I hope she made it to the ocean.

I sing with all of them when they want me to. E-Except Demyx. He just quacks and throws everyone off. [Sky stops singing and lets out a huff. She doesn't like being thrown off.]

[Roxas reaches up and gives Mickey a little petting.] He's really cute! He won't shock me, right?

[That sounds really cool. And sad. Did his other self still have Pokémon around?] Oh... did you ever look for her?

[Roxas. Roxas that's - well, not adorable. But the idea that he gets all of his bird to sing with him? That's...] That's really nice of you!

[Rin pets her some more. No huffing now, only good feelings here! Mickey leans into all that petting. He looooooooooooooves it.] He is~. But you don't have to worry about getting shocked. You're just gonna have a lot of static now.

[It is sad, but Rin tries to not let it get to him. It's a really bad habit.] I did. She wasn't the only one, either. ...But I figure they're happier here. And I'd rather they be out there than trapped in those pokeballs.

[Hey, don't laugh! He's a damn good singer. Or at least his Pokémon think so.] Huh? It is?

[Okay, Sky is not complaining anymore. Rin gets another hug now. Roxas pets Mickey some more.] That won't hurt, right?

... there's one of mine I'm not taking out of his Pokéball again. He's not a good bird, and I don't want to release him. He likes to attack people.

[But it's such a cute mental image! Rin nods.] 'Course it is! You gotta lotta birds and birds like to hear music, right? So you singin' with them has gotta be good!

[...Sky, if Poochy was around she would be SO ANGRY.] What static? Nah, but it'll hurt whoever you touch next. [wait... Rin tilts his head and accidentally gets smooshed against Sky's feathers. He steps back, sputtering a bit. Once he's regained himself he has to know...] D'ya know what static feels like?

[. . . dude, that's upsetting. And not what he expected to hear from Roxas of all people.] ...Does he attack you too?

Except when Fuu decides she needs to sing to the full moon. I don't get much sleep on those nights. [It's cute and annoying.

Sky trills an apology before joining her trainer to check out Mickey. Roxas slowly shakes his head, keeping part of his attention on Sky.] No? Not that I remember.

He... [He looks more angry than upset.] I learned how to avoid the attacks, because my other birds always warned me. When he tried to hurt Naminé, I couldn't take it anymore.

I didn't know Noctowls liked singing to the moon! [THAT'S COOL WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT]

Like, not at all? ...After you let Mickey roll all over your head, you gotta come touch me. [Because there is no other way to explain static electricity.]

[Rin's going to give Roxas the benefit of the doubt and assume he's tried talking to this pokemon of his.] ...I'm not super great with pokemon, but can I try talkin' to him?

I don't think the others do. Sky's the one who got the others into singing... [It's so noisy when you get woken up at 6am by their 'rehearsals'.]

Huh? O-Okay. [Weird request. But he'll do it.]

[Roxas is hesitant to agree to this. Sky feels his distress and puffs up. She doesn't like Braig. Never has.] .... o-only if we can do it where he can't fly.

[They can talk about static electricity and singing later. Rin's more concerned for this mysterious pokemon. He doesn't like that Roxas has kept it locked away, but he's not going to say anything about it. For now, he just wants to see if he can help him out.

The pokemon sounds like bad news but Rin's not going to judge it until he can see it for himself. Can't go knockin' on friends. Roxas definitely has a good reason for locking that one away.

Even Sky seemed bothered by it.]

Okay. What kind of pokemon is he? The only bird pokemon I ever had were a pidegeot and a murkrow.

[At the mention of Murkrow, Sky hides her head in her feather. Roxas sighs, petting her neck gently.]

Braig's a Murkrow. I thought it'd be nice to have a dark type, but he was mean as soon as he hatched. None of my other Pokémon would get near him. It's like they knew he was bad. I really tried making friends with him: treats, brushing his feathers with this special brush Tobias gave me, letting him battle...

[He looks far from happy.] He would let me do that stuff, and then still try and hurt me. I don't know what to do with him.

[Roxas refuses to let anyone take Braig. Unless they know how to tame something like that.]

[...Wait, this sounds way too familiar.]

Poochy is exactly like that and she's my starter. I was gonna bring her along but she likes to stay with Blackie since they bond over stuff. When she's not biting me she's trying to nip at anything that moves. -- Oh, Poochy's a Poochyena. That's a dark type too.

[Rin relaxes a lot. Wow, he thought this was like a giant dinosaur thing, not a little murkrow.] My Murkrow, Soba, he - he's gone now, but when we were together he liked to take anything that was shiny!

Dark types are pretty cool. [He has two more on his team, but they can talk about them later.] They're like... pranksters. At least mine are like that. So we'd get together and do a couple. [Ah, memories - does that say anything about him, since he's half-demon and likes to pull pranks...]

[Your Pokémon sound like angels compared to his Murkrow, honestly. Roxas's affinity is light, so maybe the dark types know that. But he's human here, so that shouldn't matter???

He sighs softly.] Maybe you could handle him better than I can. I don't think he ever liked me very much from the beginning.

[He shifts his weight from foot to foot before finally nodding.] I guess if you're good with them... you can try and talk to him? I'd have to get him out of the box.

[...No, they're all terrible pranksters and Rin's like the gang leader. he probably should mention that Poochy saw what Rin really was during that weirdo weekend when he's not as human anymore. she has a different sort of respect for him than his other pokemon do.]

You just gotta keep trying! [Roxas, you're getting a pat on the shoulder.] Sure thing~. I'll bring Poochy with me so she can talk to him too. And then you can travel together with your pokemon again!

[Roxas was too preoccupied that weekend to even have realized that he had his Keyblades back. Oh well, maybe next time.]

Right... [He sounds far from sure as he leads Rin and Sky over to the elevator.] I'm just warning you that this might not go over well. He'll attack just about anything he doesn't like.
