I can't come up with a good subject /fails [Open]

Who: Naruto and whoever else would like to join~
Where: Route 29, half-way to Cherrygrove
When: Oct, 6th around noon
Summary: Half-way to Cherrygrove, Naruto decides to take a short break and rest while checking out his new pokemon. Feel free to stop by and say hello~
Rating: PG-13 we'll say.

Log:

Deciding to take a break from all the running and walking and skipping, Naruto tosses his pack down onto the ground and plops down next it, a row of trees behind him. He whipes the sweat from his forehead with the end of his shirt and lays back onto the soft grass. Reaching out to his bag Naruto pulls his pokeball out to look it over. He sits up and fumbles with it again, there's a flash of light and the Poliwag is standing in front of him once the light dies down. The blond grins at it and it smiles back, at least he thinks it does -- he can't really tell.

"So you're a Poliwag, huh? What kind of pokemon are you?" He asks, though he knows it won't actually tell him, but he can't help but say the question anyways, even if only to himself.

"Poliwag!" It chirps and it makes him laugh a little.

From the fins for feet it looks like some sort of tadpole, and obviously from being water-gunned it must be a water element type. Not exactly his element, but who was he to complain? At least he had one!

"Hmm I think I'll call you .. Gama!" Since it reminds him of the toads he had first summoned when he was younger. "Do you like that name?"

"Poli!" It replies and he isn't sure if that means it likes it or not but it hasn't water-gunned him for it so .. the pokemon just might like it's new name.

It's still a day's worth until he reaches Cherrygrove, and knowing Sasuke is there it only makes him want to get there even faster.

Scott, meanwhile, is nearby and panting. Note to self -- don't try and run all the way to Violet. It only ends in tiredness.

"Knuckles...!" Scott said, as his Cyndaquil leaped at a wild Pidgey. However, that didn't last long, as Cyndaquil noticed a Poliwag, and started to rush over.

Tired, Scott started to make his way over to Naruto, with a small wave.

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Naruto had yet to see another pokemon besides the one he .. owned? and promptly freaked out as some mole looking thing came rushing toward them, causing him to scramble back away.

It was cute and all but he had no idea what the other creatures in this place were like.

[identity profile] awesome-scott.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"...Hi." Scott said, a little sheepish. "I'm Scott Pilgrim, and this is Knuckles."

Wait... that was a Poliwag! It definatly was.

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Hahaha, hi! I'm Naruto, it's nice to meet you!" He said, then looked down to the little creature and waved. If he was nice to it, maybe it wouldn't do anything weird. Not that he wasn't nice to animals or creatures. But he got sprayed in the face with water the first time he met his and he didn't wanna take any chances!

[identity profile] awesome-scott.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Are you moving on to Violet too, or do you have somewhere else to go?" Scott then asked, as Knuckles edged closer to Gama, flaring up a bit. If either of them understood Poke-Language, they'd know that Knuckles wanted a fight.

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm going to .. uh .. what's it called .. Cherrygrove? I have a friend there I want to see!" He chirped. And no he didn't understand the language, in fact he didn't even know there WAS a pokemon language, but he kinda understood the moment the flames started to pique.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what is it DOING?" He asked, edging away a little but keeping a very close eye on Gama.

[identity profile] awesome-scott.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Scott flashed a grin. "I'm meeting with the new love of my life, in Violet!" he said, looking forward. However, when he heard Knuckles starting to flare up, he looked back down at him. "I think he wants to fight. But I'm out of potions... and it's only a little bit until Cherrygrove."

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Hehehe that's cool! Congrats~" He replied, and meaning it though his attention was pulled elsewhere to his pokemon.

"Well tell him no! I don't even know how they fight yet!" Naruto exclaimed as he watched the Poliwag move toward the Cyndaquil. "No! Bad Gama! Come back here!" Hlkjdlkfdf he didn't want it to get hurt!

Tulio was not enjoying himself. Despite the sun and the autumn colours making things appear practically idyllic, this was not Tulio's idea of a good time. First of all, he still had no idea what was going on, and he was not taking it all too well, even if he was starting to get used to the idea of all of this. Second of all, he had just been freaking attacked by some ridiculously sized purple rat. The mutant dragonfly he had to keep up with had got a chance to prove itself useful though, and Tulio was starting to tolerate him after that.

But, you know, still. This simply wasn't ideal. New for Tulio was that he didn't know how to trick his way out of this, and also that he didn't really have a plan - the most he had at this moment was to keep going up this route to see if anyone at the other end of it had any answers.

He doubted they would. So far, no one had anything substansial to offer. Not even the people in the little talking ... thing.

Sighing, adjusting the rucksack, he kept walking ahead, with the hopes of finding Miguel or anyone else familiar around here, but instead he stumbled upon ... a stranger. Who seemed to be perfectly content with the ball-shaped blue creature next to him.

Must be a local, his mind tried to reason, but in any case, Tulio wasn't a big fan of strangers (even if his Yanma was, excitedly flying straight over to greet the pair), so he remained sort of awkwardly standing there, glaring not-so-subtly at his red insect.

[OOC: OHLAWL sorry if that ended up a bit long. I love prose-action -cough- xD]

Naruto was happily playing with Gama, his Poliwag -- if you could call it playing, but whatever it hadn't squirted him in the face yet -- when he and his pokemon noticed the flying insect coming their way. Needless to say it sort of freaked him out a little. Shino's bugs were one thing -- they were small and controlled and half the time you didn't even KNOW they were there, just like ninja. But this thing was coming. Right. For them. And Naruto flailed his arms as if it had just attacked him when it was actually still a few feet away. This had gone on for several moments until Gama water gunned him in the face.

The blond spluttered and coughed and wiped the water from his face. "The hell Gama!" The blond exclaimed and only then saw the insect had perched atop Gama's head. He just gave it a weird look and then sighed. Deeply. Dramatically.

"Well it looks like you made a new friend, Gama." The blond said with a laugh. "You look like some sort of butterfly moth thing. I wonder what kind you are."

Looking up, Naruto then noticed a man not too far off in the distance, just standing there. Immediately Naruto waved and called out. "Hey! Is this yours?" He asked, waving and then pointing to the moth-erfly poke-thing.

(ooc: No problem! xD)

Tulio had been trying to stop the Yanma, actually, but he hadn't expected it to listen to him, and he'd obviously been right. And his noises of protest had probably been pretty unintelligible anyway. But he didn't really approve of the Yanma's clear lack of decent behaviour. Alright, so it was just a greeting, but it was so damn excited about everything.

And the kid. Well, he wasn't as young as the other kid he'd met, but still not much older than a kid. Tulio had been a bit worried at first that the Yanma had actually attacked him somehow, and was relieved to find that it hadn't.

Still didn't mean he was all too thrilled about having to admit that the wild insect ... well, was it really his? He didn't know and certainly didn't want to think so, but it seemed to be the case. In any way, the Yanma wouldn't leave him, so he was responsible.

He went over to the blonde and the pair of monster-animals, nodding at the kid.

"Yeah, sorry", he muttered and turned to the insect, "get back here!"

It flitted its wings in protest, but flew over to hover closer to Tulio, who again gave him a stern glare.
And a more hushed reprimand of "Stop doing that!"

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-07 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay so it wasn't a month or butterfly or whatever but it was a big damn bug buzzing around. He had been to freaked out to see what it actually was. Not that seeing a giant insect wasn't cause for freakage.

Naruto just grinned and leaned back on his arms, his Poliwag sitting in front of his crossed legs. "It's okay! This one here is mine, I guess. I don't know how I got it, but it seems to think I'm it's master or something." He said with a shrug and then reached forward to pat Gama on the head, which the creature trilled happily at.

"Haha, you'll get used to it!" Was all he said as he watched the other man try to get his pokemon to behave. "Did you just get here too?"

Tulio was nodding, finding himself much in the same predicament. "I know what you're talking about", he muttered, "it won't leave me alone." He was quiet for a second, then added as if he'd just realized it, "it's a freak of nature."

He felt a bit calmer. Nothing disastrous had happened aside the purple-rat-incident earlier, and the Yanma seemed a bit tired since that whole ordeal, so all things considered, things weren't too bad. And the teen here seemed to be in the same boat. Well, judging from his magicaltalkingbox, most people were, but this was the first - well second - real meeting he'd had with someone else. He halfway hoped this person was as lost about it all as Tulio was himself.

And in response to the question asked, he looked up, scrutinizing the kid properly with a slight frown before answering.

"Pretty much-" It was cut short from his Yanma nudging his back, and he made a sort of growling sound before attempting to shoo him away. Then, turned back. "So... I take it you're not one of the locals, either."

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Naruto just laughed, because he had thought the same thing of the pokemon when he first got here. Especially since he had never seen anything like it before back home. Sure there were some weird experiments and Shino used bugs for most of his jutsu's and then there was Kiba and Akamaru but that was completely different than this.

"You can do that, but I doubt it'll go away." He said with a small chuckle as he watched the man try to get the insect to go away.

"Nope, sure not! I got here a couple days ago. A lot of people have, I guess. I still don't get the whole making these things fight each other but .." Naruto just shrugged. He still wasn't sure he could just make his pokemon fight -- unless it wanted to, of course.

"Did you just get here?"

[personal profile] greatbigrock 2010-10-08 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
"I know it won't. I'm trying to keep it at a distance." The key word here being 'trying'. Because really, the constant buzzing/flitting and generally insect-y sounds were starting to annoy him. He'd never liked bugs much, and this bug was a monster of a bug, thus enhancing the sound he'd learned to live with but still didn't particularly enjoy.

"I got here yesterday", he handwaved the answer, was more interested at the previous statement the other person had made. "What was that? They're supposed to fight each other?"

He'd really hoped that freak-rat-thing had been a one time deal. Was that the whole point of this sudden quest? He'd seen various kind of animal fights on the streets, but had honestly found them a bit too macabre to participate in. He was more for the regular conning tricks. And now he had somehow gotten stuck with an enormous dragonfly and the point was to make it fight?

Well, thinking about the rat fight earlier, it didn't seem to have affected either the Yanma or the other animal-thing too bad. Maybe this world was different. Scratch that, he knew this world was different, but if these animals were as extraordinary as some people had hinted, maybe he could use this to an advantage.

He gave the Yanma a sideways glance. It seemed excited for the attention.

"You could always put it in the pokeball." Naruto supplied helpfully, and took a moment to dig around in his bag for one of the red and white spheres. He pulled it out and grinned. "Like this!" And with a press of the little button, the ball opened up and literally (or so it seemed) sucked the Poliwag into the ball with a flash of light. Bye, bye Gama.

Naruto had only learned he could put it away a few days ago, which helped with traveling. By a lot. He didn't have to worry about his Poliwag getting lost or keeping up if he got to far ahead. Quite a nifty deal.

"Yeah! Isn't that crazy? And some of them even like fighting." The blond said, still unsure how he felt about the whole 'making them fight' thing. It was one thing to fight in defense or to spar. Sure, he was a ninja and some of their ninja had pets or partners that fought -- okay so it was kind of like that. But still.

Pokéball? ... well that certainly seemed convenient. Tulio had found the little spheres when going through the stuff in the backpack he'd been rather unceremoniously handed, but hadn't understood what they were for. He'd avoided most strange-looking things, it just seemed better that way, except for when he'd tried understanding the Pokégear. That had been a rather horrifying experience, actually.

Shrugging off the backpack (quite gratefully, as it had begun to feel really heavy lately), he put it on the ground and with one knee on the ground, began looking it through for one of the little ... things. He found one, and without much ado and halfway expecting it to not work, he aimed it at the Yanma and pressed the button - and it was captive in the little ball, and all was well. He couldn't help but feel quite shocked at this, but decided to not think of it any differently. When in Rome, or what was it? He'd definitely make use of this trick more.

Returning his focus now on the other person again and what he was saying, he found the information very interesting. And admittedly, still a little ... new and disturbing.

"They don't seem to take much harm though", he thought out loud, automatically gazing at the area where his enormous dragonfly had last been.

Kagami is walking nearby, looking very intently on her bag of trail mix. On one hand, just because she was walking more often now, it didn't mean that she should start snacking more but on the other hand, there were chocolate chips in that trail mix. Besides, a little snack couldn't hurt and she's not going to gain weight if she walks and eats at the same time, right?

She finally makes her decision and starts to open the bag. Turns out it's one of those bags that will not open. Despite trying both the pulling and the ripping from the side method, neither work and Kagami's left glaring at the chocolate chips visible through the clear bag. Wait. There's some guy there! But it'd be awkward to just ask some guy to open a bag for her... She really does want some chocolate though...

"H-Hey! Do you mind giving me a hand?"

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Naruto looked up as the girl approached him and he gave a friendly wave and smile. He hadn't expected anyone else to be on this route, as it seemed everyone else was farther ahead than he was -- not that he minded at all, since he was still getting used to this weird place.

"Sure! What do you need help with?" He asked, eying the bag in her hand, wondering what that was and if that was what she needed help with, but he'd wait to find out just in case.

[identity profile] usedgrowl.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
After hearing that the gym leaders here were much tougher than the ones in the game, Kagami had diverted from her plan in order to train for a while. Unfortunately while it did get her Charmander more stronger and allowed her to catch a Pidgey, it delayed her plans significantly and she was hurriedly trying to catch up. That is, she was hurrying until now.

Averting her eyes and blushing slightly, Kagami asked, "Do you mind opening this bag of trail mix for me? I've been trying for a while but it totally won't open." She held out the battered bag of trail mix.

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, sure!" He said with a grin and took the bag, pinching the ends and popping it open. It was a little tough at first but he managed to get it open without tossing the contents all over the place and handed it back.

"There you go!" He said, smiling.

[identity profile] usedgrowl.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
She felt slightly affronted as did she spend forever on failing to open that bag but she took the open bag of trail
mix and started to pick out the chocolate chips. She lifted her head to say, "Thanks for this. I"m Kagami Hiiragi. It's nice to meet you."

[identity profile] tebayo.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome!" He said grinning a little as he sat there crosslegged on the ground. "I'm Uzumaki Naruto! It's nice to meet you too! His Poliwag trilled a little and he laughed and patted it on the head.

[identity profile] usedgrowl.livejournal.com 2010-10-09 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
She started to eat the chocolate chips, one by one, until she managed to finish off all of the ones she had accumulated. After realizing that maybe it wasn't the best idea to eat all that chocolate, she tried to get her mind off of her bad decision by saying, "Oh, you've got a Poliwag? I haven't seen one of those yet... Not that, that's saying much, I've only been here for a few days myself."
