Why Don't You Go Where Fashion Sits?
Who: Participants of the Kalosmas New Year's Event!
Where: The Hotel Richissime, in scenic Lumiose City, Kalos!
When: Wednesday, December 31 - Thursday, January 1!
Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!
Rating: PG in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.
• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.
• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!
• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.
• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.
A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:
Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:
On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

MAIN EVENT INFOPOST | QUESTIONS FOR MODS

[ As is perhaps unsurprising, Valmont's headed straight for the Spa-Fari Zone. Don't even talk to him until he's had his hair done. Or do, but I can't promise he'll acknowledge you.
Afterwards, properly pampered, he's taken to wandering the hotel. More than likely, you can find him in the tea lounge, having located the absolute fanciest tea they have to offer and enjoying the hell out of it. He's in a better mood than most people here have ever seen him. This is definitely his kind of place. ]
8:00 PM - 11:30 PM - THE GALA
[ Valmont's wearing his usual green suit, having seen no need to dress any fancier than he does every day. He'll mostly be standing around and trying to look important, but he does dance and could certainly be persuaded to. Feel free to bug him! ]
OR WHENEVER ELSE!
[ Please annoy this loser. ]
Free time, spa-fari zone!
Eventually, she passes by where Valmont is and notices that he dropped one of his towels. Or maybe that isn't even his. Actually, it probably isn't, but she can't just leave it lying there, can she? So don't look now, but there's a human-sized bug gingerly picking her way over to offer him the dropped towel.]
Leea?
no subject
[ Bathrobe-clad and hair down, Valmont isn't really focused on anything except getting to the next spa station. So when he turns around to see who's trying to get his attention - well, whatever he was expecting, it wasn't a giant bug. He's used to weird creatures by now - how could he not be? - but giant bugs still give him pause. And this one appears to be trying to give him something else... a towel? ]
Er, I'm afraid that isn't -
[ But she seems insistent. So he takes the proffered towel gingerly, holding it between his thumb and forefinger as though it were diseased. Which it might well be. Who knows what sort of germs the other hotel guests have brought with them? Not to mention what it might have picked up from the insect! ]
I beg your pardon! Do you work here?
[ Valmont that is a Pokémon, it can't talk. ]
no subject
She seems pleased that he took the towel from her, which must mean it was his after all. About here is when she turns slightly to see Chihiro walk up, his Lucario and Hitmontop still being seen a few paces back.]
Ah, I'm sorry. I hope she isn't bothering you.
[Shiruku's antennae twitch as she looks down at Chihiro, shaking her head. No, she was just helping this man, see?]
no subject
[ The look on his face indicates he clearly does. ]
You really ought to keep an eye on your pets, you know, young lady. [ Says the man whose own Pokémon are nowhere in sight. Though if one were to spot a Servine lounging around in a pair of sunglasses acquired from god knows where, while nearby a Stunky and Gothita look after a sickly green egg... that'd be them. ]
no subject
I...I'm sorry. I'm sure she didn't mean to disrupt you. I'll...be sure to do that.
[Of course Shiruku can still take care of herself and he's well aware of that fact, but he isn't quite sure what else to say.]
no subject
Oh, don't make that face. [ To Chihiro: ] Tell it not to make that face. I'm sure it was an honest, if disgusting, mistake.
[ Seriously what the hell is he supposed to do with this towel. ]
no subject
[Chihiro blinks, trailing off and glancing back up at the bug type next to him. Shiruku grimaces a little, her gaze growing a little harder. Hey now, don't tell Chihiro what to do. Also how is he supposed respond to that, even.]
no subject
Why is it looking at me like that?
[ Out of nowhere, the aforementioned sunglasses-wearing Servine slithers into view, coiling lightly around his trainer's leg as he hisses at Shiruku. You looking for trouble, friendo? ]
no subject
She...she probably...um....the way you said that...I guess...
[And again he trails off, his voice growing small until he can't be heard at all.]
no subject
Get off me. [ He attempts to extricate his leg from the Servine's coils. ] And take those things off, they look bloody ridiculous.
[ The Servine scowls, but does as he's told. If nothing else, it's easier to glare at Shiruku with his sunglasses pushed up on his head. ]
Do speak up, won't you? [ He cocks an ear toward Chihiro. ] I'm sure you're quite aware of the fact that no one likes a mumbler.
no subject
Chihiro flinches and looks down, averting his gaze and edging a bit closer to his Leavanny.]
I'm sorry...just...t-...the way you...said that, just now...
[May be the reason she had that look? He really doesn't know what Valmont wants from him and Shiruku is starting to regret coming this way.]

The Gala (around 9PM-ish)
Well, you're a sight for sore eyes.
no subject
Ah, Mr. Francis. [ A polite nod. ] Enjoying the gala, are you? I suppose this must be the sort of thing you're used to, given that we appear to be in this world's equivalent of... well. France. [ Calling it "you" would just feel weird. ]
The Gala, idk any time.
While Valmont's taking a break between dances, a certain Russian taps him on his shoulder before swooping in closer and wrapping an arm around his waist. He's dressed in his uniform, minus the hat, having decided that despite being kicked out of his country, he still wishes to honor it during this festive time. Once a commie, always a commie it seems.
Besides, it looks damn good on him.]
Ah, Gorynych. I was hoping to find you...
no subject
Ivan. You're looking handsome.
[ He means it. This is his first time actually seeing the man in uniform, and it seems he'd been right; it suits him very well. Possibly too well. Is it getting hot in here? ]
Er. I trust you've been enjoying your time here so far? I haven't seen particularly much of you since we arrived.
[ That might be because someone ran off at the first opportunity to get massages and mud baths... ]
no subject
[Because it's true. He can't recall a time when he hasn't been handsome.]
I have. Although I wish we couldn't done more together. I certainly hope we'll get more time tomorrow. It is New Years, after all - and I have presents for you.
[Before Valmont even has the chance to inquire more about these said-presents, Raikov lets go of his waist to take him by the hand.]
Care to dance?
no subject
His ears perk up at the word "presents", but before he can press Raikov for more details, he finds himself being asked to dance.
Well. That's what they're here for!
He gracefully accepts Raikov's hand as they move onto the dance floor, and... huh. It's around now he realizes he's never actually attended any sort of dance with another man before. This raises a bit of a problem. ]
Er. Who leads...?
no subject
As for Valmont's question, Raikov smiles.]
Whatever you're more comfortable with. I can do either.
no subject
I shall, then.
[ His right hand finds its way to Raikov's waist as his left gently takes Raikov's hand. He hasn't done this in a while, certainly not since the business with Shendu, but it comes to him as naturally as ever. This, at last, is the sort of thing he knows how to do, the sort of life he was meant for. He's almost smiling. ]
no subject
But Val just had to make things complicated with being left-handed, didn't he? Raikov sighs, resting his right hand on the man's shoulder.]
I'm good at following but if I end up messing up, it's your fault.
no subject
But he starts out slow, just in case. ]
no subject
[... Truth be told, it's been over 6 years since he last danced. Someone's a bit rusty.
So much for coming in and sweeping Valmont off his feet.]
no subject
[ No one's stepped on anyone's feet so far, anyway. Success? ]
no subject
You've never danced with anyone quite like me before. And no, I didn't learn how to do it backwards. You did.
[Nonetheless, this is... rather fun. Raikov had forgotten how much he enjoyed dancing. He smiles, moving a bit closer to Valmont.]
I can make an exception though...
