[The crunch gives it away, and all in an instant Dirk is ducking out of the way and moving toward the source of the sound. On autopilot, his hand reaches for a sword he doesn't have, before he simply keeps the snowball at the ready instead. As soon as he catches sight of Dave, he'll throw.]

[He's on the retreat, trying to make as little noise as possible. Which gives him an idea, he sends a snowball to piff against a building away from his location.

Instincts are telling to flash-step and draw his sword but he ignores it. Can't do that here. Got to think creatively. He packs another snowball and ducks down, waiting. So when Dirk and Dave catch sight of each other it's a two way swing. Can we get a double k.o.?]

[Dirk glances toward the sound of the snowball hitting the building, but as soon as he sees the patch of snow left on the building, he turns back in the direction he was facing before and carefully edges forward. He's in the open here, he's at more danger of actually getting hit, and therefore he's especially on alert.]

[Dave inches forward, keeping low and trying to spot Dirk before he's spotted. Considering he's a tall blond haired guy with black earmuffs on an a black coat, probably going to be spotted first.]

[And sure enough, Dirk spots a hint of black, and as soon as he does, he's throwing his snowball, then grabbing more snow for a second one. Gotta go quickly, or he'll get retaliation!]

[Dave gets hit square in the ribs. Man, that's cold. He'll worry about it later. With one quick movement he lets his snowball fly at Dirk and darts away. What is a Strider strife without some form of speed involved. He snags snow on the way, packing it and oh who cares that he's out in the open now.]

[Dirk is hit on the arm, but now that he's caught sight of Dave, he's not going to lose him so easily. Instead of retreating, he moves towards Dave, throwing his own snowball.]

[moveslikestrider]

[The snowball hits him square in the back but Dave is spinning around to throw his at Dirk. He's aiming lower so it can't be ducked as easily. Around the chest to stomach. Or side. He's not picky but he's taking off to the left, determined to keep distance between them.]

[And a snowball to the chest it is, though while it's enough to make Dirk hesitate, it's not enough to make him stop. He's doing whatever he can to close the distance between them.]

[moveslikestrider]

[While Dave is doing what he can to make it wider. You know, ducking around things, leaping over them leap frog style or vaulting over. It's a lesson in futility but he tries anyway. Why? To stall. He's packing another snowball and not yet ready to fire it. But the gap is getting narrower and narrower.]

[Dirk is following headlong, jumping recklessly even despite the snow. As soon as he gets close enough, he whips his snowball at Dave- then practically tackles him, if he can manage it. All's fair in snowball war, in his book.]

[There's a curse when Dirk makes contact with his back and down they both go. Snow tastes a lot like ice mixed with dirt. Ugh. You know what this calls for? If you guessed Dave getting a cramp for shifting so he could shove the snowball against the side of Dirk's head if he doesn't dodge, then you're right.]

[In close quarters like this, it's more difficult to dodge, so Dirk does indeed get a snowball to the side of the face. It even manages to mess up his shades, considering how much they stick out from the side of his face.

Messing with the shades calls for retaliation and escalation, though, so Dirk is going to attempt to shove his own handful of snow down Dave's jacket.]

[That girly sounding yelp is the sign Dirk is successful. Dave tries to twist so he can up the ante with a handful of snow down the back of his brother's neck. Whether he's a winner at this gambit or not is up for grabs. UGH that's cold.]

[shippingmath]

[That yelp is music to his ears, is what it is. He's about halfway successful, but any snow down your shirt is painful and awful, so Dirk pulls away, squirming to try and get the snow out.]

Fuck!

[moveslikestrider]

[While Dirk's pulling away, Dave is surging up. He's got his feet under him and wincing at the cold going down his back as he fixes his shades. After a second of getting a good look at the other Strider, he launches into a tackle.

Time to turn the tables.]

[Distracted for the moment, Dirk is an easy target. As soon as Dave's tackled him, though, he's doing his best to get away, twisting to shove an elbow hard into Dave's side.]

[moveslikestrider]

[He takes that elbow to the side just so he can try to cram more snow down the back of Dirk's coat. Welcome to sibling fights.]

[shippingmath]

[Sibling fights are the best/worst thing he's had happen yet. Because, while Dirk loves the competition- having someone to compete with, specifically, even though wrestling like this more Jake's thing.

On the other hand, it results in things like snow down his shirt.

This time, he doesn't pause to try and get it out of his shirt, despite how cold it is. Instead, he does his best to get Dave pinned.]

[moveslikestrider]

[This is the first fight Dave's ever had that is nearly on equal ground. He kind of has no idea how to react to that so he just rolls with it. Literally. While Dirk is trying to pin him down, he's just seeking to roll them and maybe if the chance comes up kick out to knock the other Strider loose.

If he does get pinned (your choice) he's going to raise an eyebrow.]

[At takes a while, and he almost loses a couple of times, but eventually he does get Dave pinned.]

Do you yield?

If I say no are you going to put that elbow against my throat like we're hardcore motherfuckers? You already kicked my ass, the fight was over the moment I was down and out. Let me up already I'm feeling cold in places that have no right to be getting frosty. [He could in theory get free. There are several ways but the fight had been to see what Dirk knew. And to engage him when it was just them.]

No, but I might take advantage of all this snow around here to rub your face in it.

[But Dave's not struggling more, so instead Dirk moves off of him, stepping back and brushing snow off his coat.]

Rude.

[He sits up the moment Dirk's stepped back and adjusts his coat so the snow can fall out of the back. What's left of it that is.] I have no idea why people are crazy about this stuff. Ugh.

[Nevermind that he you know basically exploited it to get his shots in.]

You're welcome.

[Dirk looks around and shrugs.]

Because they are less receptive to freezing and therefore are insane. Who knows. We'll just have to get used to it.
