[The hug only lasts a few moments, at least, before she leans back, taking a look at him, and smiles, slightly embarrassed by that perhaps. Her arms eventually fold behind her back.]

Sorry. It's, uhm. I was just surprised to see you.

[A slightly awkward pause.]

Oh. Someone told me you were here...which isn't quite the same as seeing you, I think. [Alive. She doesn't know what he knows so she's leaving that bit out.]

Uh. Right. How are you? Have you been here long?

...Uh, a few months. Been busy lately, training and shit, but it's starting to pay off. I have a few Badges now, they're pretty cool, I guess. [He shrugs.] Probably why I missed you when you arrived. [Wait-- fuck, he didn't even ask when she arrived.]

[She shakes her head.] I have only been here for a few days.

[Also, please ignore that awkward phrasing, because he didn't; Sollux noticed it just a second too late. Somehow he managed to keep his expression neutral.]

[Kanaya notices that also and looks a bit awkward for a moment.] I...uh, yes. I've been okay. Karkat came and picked me up in New Bark Town. I've just been here since.

[She hesitates, and then turns around and reaches into the pile of gifts and emerges with a carefully wrapped blue one, which she holds out to him.]

Here, this one is yours.

[Awkwardness DEFEATED.]

...You got me a gift? Even though I might not have even been here?

[Oh fuck, he didn't even remember any of the gifts. And he didn't even know Kanaya was here. Fuck. Fuck. Double-fuck.]

[Well, someone's getting a huge apology gift sometime in January, and it ain't going to be Eridan.]

...Thanks. [He sounds really in awe that she would do such a thing, and more than slightly confused.]

[Let him just casually... take that present. And stare at it.] We opening them now?

[What was that about the awkwardness being defeated?]

[She shrugs.] Aradia said you were here, so you were on my list. If you hadn't shown up, I would have mailed it to you.

Ah...[She doesn't know.] If you would like? I don't believe there are any rules about it.

[And then Sollux saw the Fucking Ugly Stuffed Bee. They fell in love immediately and ran off to East Alternia, and lived happily ever after.]

[Yeah no. But he is going to take it out and cradle it in his arm.]

Yes, of course. And considering how cold it is here, everyone needs a sweater. Or three. I would have made more but I ran out of time.

[She hesitates. She didn't quite know what the reaction to the bee was going to be, so slipping it under his arm was a plus.]

...The honeybeast was karkat's idea.

[He bounces the FUSB in his hand a few times.]

...It's cute.

[She can't help but smile in relief.]

Good. I wasn't certain you would...

Yeah. [He tucks it under his arm again.] I obviously... can't get any of my bees back, so this is the next best thing.

[He did come to love those bees, yes. Even if they made potentially dangerous mind honey, they were pretty much his constant companions, and he was more than a little upset when he lost all of them.]

[Kanaya nods in understanding. There were a lot of things they could never get back.]

I...well, I'm glad it helps. [She hesitates.] Are there bee pokemon?

Yeah, Combee and Vespiquen. [And Beedrill, but Beedrill is pretty weak.] I've got one already, though all the Gyms I've used so far have made life pretty shitty for a Bug-type... [Some of the old venom is starting to creep back into his voice.]

[She hasn't read enough to really understand the type vs type thing, she she frowns.]

Perhaps they simply need to be trained stronger? I will admit, all I have is Sunshine and she...well, she isn't very useful when it comes to fighting.

Who's Sunshine? [Kind of a girly thing to name a Pokémon, in Sollux's opinion, but considering Kanaya's track record of hobbies and interests (as well as the fact that she's a girl), he cannot call himself surprised.]

She's my...there she is. [The little Budew comes running happily out from wherever she'd been hiding, only to be scooped up by 'momma' Kanaya.]

This is Sunshine.

'Sup, Sunshine. [Sollux looks down at the Budew with much the same lineface as he's been wearing since he got the bee, but he has to admit, it is pretty cute.] I haven't got a Grass-type. Closest is probably... her.

[Sollux flips the FUSB to his other hand and brings out a Pokéball, and from it comes an Eevee. Sollux tries to pick her up, but she insists on climbing up his arm instead. Once situated at an acceptable height, she looks Kanaya and Sunshine up and down with an exceedingly sassy look on her face.]

This is Eevee. I haven't decided on a name yet -- she won't accept anything I pick out. [He shakes her a little bit, and she whips her tail huffily.]

[Sunshine peers at the Eevee happily and gives a little tiny wave.]

She's an Eevee. I was looking at those in the gear...[She peers at the little creature for a moment thoughtfully.] Everyone seems to like them. I will have to find one, I think.

[Kanaya is already making breeding lists and plans, oh yes.]

Eevees evolve into a whole bunch of different Pokémon, so I've been trying to figure out what I should turn her into. I'm thinking a Grass-type right now, but... who even knows.

Did you check the Breeding Center? I bought this chick there as an egg from Riku, he's practically famous.

Karkat mentioned it, but I haven't yet. He told me I have to get a fire type.

[She smiles faintly.] I believe he dislikes the cold here almost as much as I do, so I can't argue with his logic.

Fire-types are awesome, get one. [Sollux can't stand the cold either. Warm climates for the loss.]

Anyway, battle-wise, you should get a Water-type too. Sunshine there is a Grass-type, so he'll get trashed by Fire-types, and you need someone to counter that.

I am still learning the basics of all of this, to be honest. I assume I will need at least one of each...type...if I am going to effectively breed them.
