breeder's con; (OPEN)
WHO: BREEDERS and other interested parties
WHERE: Goldenrod City, near the Breeding Centre
WHEN: February 15~16
SUMMARY: Breeder's Con!! Come sell eggs, goods, breed with strange pokemon you never met before, talk about shinies or egg moves, and all that jazz! Just don't mind that the decorations look like they belong at a Valentine's Day party
RATING: PG (will edit if it amps up more)
LOG:
[ When it came to parties with little purpose such as holidays, Saber found herself often struggling with creativity. Organizing a makeshift "bazaar" however was a thing a king can do and so she did. Not that she was experienced in the matters of the market, but from the stance she took as royalty during her reign, prosperity flourished within Britain so that was reason enough to feel justified in what she was doing. While the Breeding Centre wasn't nearly large enough to host a grand event, there was still enough space with the careful arrangement of tables and chairs to accommodate a larger population than the building was used to. Most of the loose Pokemon were placed away (even the murderous Scyther) and the place was decorated in various shades of red and pink.
Nero was going to love that, wasn't she? Saber thought about adding a touch of blue, but it didn't really seem to fit the theme.
For those who may be a bit more antisocial or have things they wish to trade or sale that were too large to keep indoors, there were a few tables set up in the yard under makeshift coverings from tarp. Not the most attractive job, but Saber isn't going to force people who might be wary of large crowds. Indoors, there's plenty of warm refreshments and a hot chocolate bar. All of the unoccupied rooms of the Breeding Centre have little signs hanging from the door knob just in case anyone wants to give their mons a bit of privacy too. How considerate! ]
Catch all log for the Breeder's Con. Feel free to make your own threads, mingle or otherwise. Just state in the subject if they're open or closed for the convenience of others. Feel free to gossip about the rampage or even the garden party that took place the day before. Thanks♥

He's not really actively selling so much as he is just sort of enjoying the atmosphere of the day, nodding and smiling at passerby and putting his small collection of eggs on display for anyone curious enough to inquire after them. Being here unofficially, he can leave at any time, and his house is just across the yard; a polite and unobtrusive exit won't be difficult.
But for the moment, he'll just sort of soak in the social atmosphere while he can get it. He really should get out more.]
no subject
A young woman wearing a Victorian gown (and clearly a corset underneath, if her insanely slim waist is any indicator) slowly walks towards his booth, eyeing his eggs.]
Well, these certainly look interesting, but I am afraid you will need to inform me what they hatch into, exactly.
[No introductions, no nothing. Let's get to the point, says she.]
no subject
I regret it's not quite the selection that some of my fellow sellers are boasting. However, they're interesting creatures nonetheless — these here will hatch into a Shinx with a fair complement of egg moves, and these are a more recent acquisition called Sigilyph, a Psychic/Flying type.
no subject
Quantity is not what I seek. [She pulls her hand away, turning her gaze to him.] I am afraid I am not familiar with most of these creatures yet, as I only arrived a small while ago. What are Shinxes and Sigilyphs?
no subject
A Shinx is a sort of electric cat. When evolved, it will grow to be roughly the size of a small lion, if that gives you some frame of reference. A Sigilyph...I'd call it a bird, but it's rather a creature that must be seen to be believed.
[He pauses, frowning slightly at the pile.]
And there ought to be one more, but it seems to have gone missing.
no subject
And, of course, that fake smile turns into a fake frown of concern.]
Well, I haven't the faintest where it might have gone. Perhaps someone stole it? Are the eggs particularly valuable?
no subject
[But wait. There, from across the lawn, a small...well, what appears to be a boy, at least, emerges from the Tennis Haus and comes toddle-running toward the tent as fast as his little legs can carry him, an egg clutched in his stubby arms. And from the way Yagyuu perks up at once, it's evident he knows this newcomer to the scene.
Possibly unsurprising, considering he's practically the spitting image of Yagyuu, sans glasses.]
...ah. Or perhaps I simply left it at my house by mistake. How fortunate that Jack was here to come to my rescue.
no subject
Your son, I take it?
no subject
A member of my roster, actually. Inherited from an acquaintance. One who, ah, didn't take quite the same approach to training as I subscribe to.
no subject
[Justine steps away from the strange child with a tail--she doesn't like kids much either--but she examines him, one hand going to her lips.] What is he?
no subject
[When Jack arrives, he retrieves the egg and places it among the others, then bends down and gets the little boy around the middle — making him shift back, abruptly, into his true form: a Zorua standing on his hind legs.]
He's a Zorua. One by the name of Jack Frost.
[Still, while he's not pleased with Jack's antics, girls do tend to like cute animals, and Jack is assuredly adorable and vulpine. So he ends up holding the Zorua the way one might a puppy, cradled in one arm and secure against his chest.]
I find him much more amenable without the guise, don't you?
no subject
[Justine isn't usually partial to cute things, but she's partial to fascinating things. She approaches slowly, a smile flickering on her face as she looks at the fox.]
Well, while he has impeccable taste in his choice of man to imitate, I believe I prefer him this way as well. [She gives Yagyuu a wink.] He can't quite pull it off while looking like a child, now can he?
no subject
[Jack's a fairly friendly sort, luckily, and he likes being held by Yagyuu, so he doesn't squirm very much as he's held, and he regards Justine as she draws nearer with big dark eyes.]
He makes an admirable attempt, doesn't he? But I'm afraid his...illusion leaves a great deal to be desired.
[And there's something odd in the way he says that word, "illusion", but if there's something amusing about it, Yagyuu's not in any hurry to share why.]
no subject
[Justine examines Jack, resting her fingertips on her lips, her eyes hard to read.] Indeed, it does. But still, quite the attempt.
Would you happen to have a Zorua egg?
no subject
[While she's examining Jack, he's quietly appraising her — deliberately overlooking the strange and elaborate costume in an attempt to read the person within it. If she'd simpered, he would've smiled and agreed just as politely. The pleasure would be mine to oblige you. Words so practiced they're effortless by now.
He really can't stand girls who simper.
But she's not. This is a woman, well-spoken, polite. Flirty, if that wink was any indication. New. And most of all, curious.
Well, why not. He's bored enough, anyway.]
Arranging for one, on the other hand...
[He shifts Jack to his other hand and reaches over, pushing up his sleeve to close his hand around his watch — and when he pulls, it comes away with his fingers in a glob of purple ooze.]
That's a different matter.
no subject
[Although the watch glob earns some raised eyebrows, then an amused smile. This place never ceases to amaze.]
What might that be?
no subject
[Two can play at that game, madam. Fingers still curled around the glob, he holds it out palm-up, letting her see the beady black eyes peering out of it.]
It's called a Ditto. They're curious creatures in a number of ways, but their one benefit is in facilitating breeding. They're...ah, compatible with any Pokemon; it makes producing an egg of the desired type quite efficient to have one around, really. I have three, personally, but this one is the oldest of the lot.
