SUMMARY: Breeder's Con!! Come sell eggs, goods, breed with strange pokemon you never met before, talk about shinies or egg moves, and all that jazz! Just don't mind that the decorations look like they belong at a Valentine's Day party

[ When it came to parties with little purpose such as holidays, Saber found herself often struggling with creativity. Organizing a makeshift "bazaar" however was a thing a king can do and so she did. Not that she was experienced in the matters of the market, but from the stance she took as royalty during her reign, prosperity flourished within Britain so that was reason enough to feel justified in what she was doing. While the Breeding Centre wasn't nearly large enough to host a grand event, there was still enough space with the careful arrangement of tables and chairs to accommodate a larger population than the building was used to. Most of the loose Pokemon were placed away (even the murderous Scyther) and the place was decorated in various shades of red and pink.

Nero was going to love that, wasn't she? Saber thought about adding a touch of blue, but it didn't really seem to fit the theme.

For those who may be a bit more antisocial or have things they wish to trade or sale that were too large to keep indoors, there were a few tables set up in the yard under makeshift coverings from tarp. Not the most attractive job, but Saber isn't going to force people who might be wary of large crowds. Indoors, there's plenty of warm refreshments and a hot chocolate bar. All of the unoccupied rooms of the Breeding Centre have little signs hanging from the door knob just in case anyone wants to give their mons a bit of privacy too. How considerate! ]

[Mostly there at the beginning of the day? What a coincidence! That's when an older man in a black sleeveless coat decides to take a look at the eggs, Houndoom at his side.]

That's a pretty impressive egg pile. I guess your team didn't need any encouragement?

[ Aradia does recognize him after a second, by virtue of video chats about money-making cats - although if that hadn't happened he'd still just be a line of text to her. ]

Not too much! Or I like to think of it as gentle encouragement? [ She sets them up on dates. It's pretty ridiculous actually. ]

[Video chats are great indeed, as otherwise he couldn't recognize her at all without red letters. Such is the curse of text messages.]

Gentleness certainly didn't keep it from being successful. How many species did you end up with?

[Counting them all looks like it would take a while.]

Around...thirty-three? But since it was the convention, a lot of people decided to help out, you know? I doubt it'll get that big unless something else pops up! We figured separate booths was sort of silly.

No one can accuse you of not offering a good variety of products even if it's the result of a team effort. If anything, that makes it even more impressive. Do you have any Normal-types in there?

[Because Normal-types are the best, obviously.]

Eevee, Togepi, Sentret - and then Pidgey and Pidove are dual-types, Flying as well as Normal. So, yes!

That's great. I already have a Pidgeot, a Tranquill and a Furret-

[Said Furret chooses this moment to come over from... wherever she was and attach herself to her trainer's leg.]

-but both Eevee and Togepi look interesting. What are the parents like?

[timelymaid]

I actually have Mylo with me today! [ Albeit in a pokeball. She'll just retrieve that, and when the pokemon is released, there stands a shiny Eevee. He's a bit reserved and shy, but he sits up straight on the table - so he can be seen, that's where Aradia released him - curling his tail around his paws. ]

This is Mylonite; he's the father of the Eevee eggs. He's very well behaved - aren't you, boy? [ Yes, she's scratching beneath his chin. ] A little reserved, but...very sweet. I don't have any of the others on me, but the Togepi's father is very, very energetic and friendly. He's tried to make friends with Aerodactyls before, actually.

Well-behaved, sweet and adorable. That's a very promising combination.

[Dark Hound doesn't seem to care much about the new arrival, but Scarf offers a friendly wave.]

Aerodactyls are the purple Rock-types, right? How did that work out for him?

[timelymaid]

Actually not as badly as you'd think! But I'm pretty sure Serket and Sapphire were just confused about what was gong on, so they didn't...well, do anything. Heliodore is one of those people - well, pokemon! - who's just good with others, you know?

I really hope that's a trait he'll have passed on to his offspring. A nice friendly egg would do my team some good, considering some of my more recent captures.

[timelymaid]

You've got some solitary types? [ She sounds reasonably sympathetic - it's something she's experienced herself, off and on. ] I think it ought to be - Togepi in general seem to be very happily-natured; I've never come across one who was less than cheery, actually.

[captainash]

Solitary and aggressive types both. A bridge or two is needed, if I want to avoid fights every time I take those out. How much would it cost for both the Togepi and the Eevee?

[timelymaid]

6500. [ That's said pretty promptly - although Aradia's open to haggling, since, well - she isn't strict about that sort of thing. ] And bridges are definitely a good thing - I'm lucky that I've got several peacemakers, really.

Got it.

[He doesn't bother haggling as he takes out the money. Good eggs are more than worth the full price.]

Otherwise the damage costs would surpass the money you'll make selling those eggs?

[timelymaid]

I wouldn't say that! If it was a problem, I'd have to find a way to fix it, right? Just like you're doing, now.

I just hope I'm fixing it quickly enough. I've only had my worse trouble makers for a few weeks, but they're already starting some nasty arguments.

[timelymaid]

I think you are! And if you have a pokemon with flamebody, it'll go even quicker.

[captainash]

Flame body? That's not what Dark Hound has. Do you know which species know that?

[timelymaid]

Let's see...Magmar, Slugma, Litwick, Larvesta, and all related evolutions, if I remember correctly.

[captainash]

I'll have to keep an eye out for those once the eggs I'm buying now are a little older, then. Thanks for the info.

No problem! If nothing else, I can breed you a Litwick at some point - Jake and I both have one.

Both of you? With that kind of egg batches I guess you need a quick way to keep them all warm at the same time. I'll be happy to buy one from you someday.

We both caught them at separate times, before we joined up, actually - so it was more a coincidence than anything else. But that does mean their children are born knowing...well, a lot of moves. [ the wonders of same-species eggs? ]

But at the same time it means they don't learn any while they're growing, right? Do they mind that?
