breeder's con; (OPEN)

WHO: BREEDERS and other interested parties
WHERE: Goldenrod City, near the Breeding Centre
WHEN: February 15~16
SUMMARY: Breeder's Con!! Come sell eggs, goods, breed with strange pokemon you never met before, talk about shinies or egg moves, and all that jazz! Just don't mind that the decorations look like they belong at a Valentine's Day party
RATING: PG (will edit if it amps up more)
LOG:

[ When it came to parties with little purpose such as holidays, Saber found herself often struggling with creativity. Organizing a makeshift "bazaar" however was a thing a king can do and so she did. Not that she was experienced in the matters of the market, but from the stance she took as royalty during her reign, prosperity flourished within Britain so that was reason enough to feel justified in what she was doing. While the Breeding Centre wasn't nearly large enough to host a grand event, there was still enough space with the careful arrangement of tables and chairs to accommodate a larger population than the building was used to. Most of the loose Pokemon were placed away (even the murderous Scyther) and the place was decorated in various shades of red and pink.

Nero was going to love that, wasn't she? Saber thought about adding a touch of blue, but it didn't really seem to fit the theme.

For those who may be a bit more antisocial or have things they wish to trade or sale that were too large to keep indoors, there were a few tables set up in the yard under makeshift coverings from tarp. Not the most attractive job, but Saber isn't going to force people who might be wary of large crowds. Indoors, there's plenty of warm refreshments and a hot chocolate bar. All of the unoccupied rooms of the Breeding Centre have little signs hanging from the door knob just in case anyone wants to give their mons a bit of privacy too. How considerate! ]

Catch all log for the Breeder's Con. Feel free to make your own threads, mingle or otherwise. Just state in the subject if they're open or closed for the convenience of others. Feel free to gossip about the rampage or even the garden party that took place the day before. Thanks♥

It's too bad none of us seem able to join the law enforcement agency on a professional basis. Perhaps we could effect change that way.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-04-28 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that truly is a shame. Granted, there do seem to be vigilante efforts to keep them in check, but it's doubtful that they're as well equipped to deal with an entire organization as an actual law enforcement organization.
timelymaid: art by <user name=spkolala site=tumblr.com> (= well!)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-05-02 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah...I'd heard about that, actually. Some sort of vigilante effort. It's better than nothing, I suppose, but I don't know how well it works.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-05-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I had briefly considered joining it, actually, but... that sort of thing doesn't exactly suit me.

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-05-31 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only heard of it, but, well...I don't think it's the most effective means of doing something, I suppose.
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-01 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I feel the same way. Something more centralized might be, of course, but that would be difficult to organize in this kind of situation.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (+ archaeology! ready to dig.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-02 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
It might be, but I think it would be well worth the effort! Though I've not really got experience in organizing that sort of thing with other people being aware of it.

I have experience with organizations that aren't known to the general public, but they've been in place for centuries and I have no experience with getting them off the ground. Furthermore... there's no guarantee of any kind of stable leadership, given that anyone here can be returned to their own world without any sort of warning.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (+ wink. yeah it's cool.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-07 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
...That's true enough. But I think that stability is occasionally overrated! Or at least not doing something because you might return home seems a little pointless to me.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, it's not something I'd be deterred by, but it's definitely something that needs to be taken into account in this scenario. I wouldn't be surprised if it's part of the reason the vigilante groups that pop up aren't as effective as they could be-Team Rocket, by all accounts I've heard, existed in this world before people from other worlds arrived, so they probably have some sort of stable native leadership in place. It's something of a natural advantage.
timelymaid: art by <user name=kaymurph site=tumblr.com> (+ oh my!)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-15 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
They have the natives on their side, basically. Whereas the non-Rocket affiliated have to deal with the gym leaders and the like, who don't seem to entirely trust us...?

If that's the case, it'd probably be best to go into making a group that has some sort of structure that expects any and all of the members to be gone at the drop of a hat. Flexible organization not resting on one person who may not always be there.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-17 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely, on both counts. Perhaps having a number of higher ranking officials in the group as a council of sorts could work-there's less of a chance that they would all disappear at once, and if one did they could probably be replaced with someone who seemed promising.

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-22 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
A council sounds a lot more efficient than a single person or persons would be, I think - for the purposes of what needs to be done, at least. It's a bit silly to expect people not to disappear from this place, after a bit, so planning for it...

...I'd be more likely to sign up for that sort of organization than an organization hinging on one or two people being here and not leaving.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-23 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Precisely. It still provides structure via leadership, but it's far less likely to be destabilized.

...Of course, given that I was contacted by this vigilante group without being given that much information, it's entirely possible they already have something like this worked out. Who knows?
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (= thoughts on a breeze.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-07-03 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you were contacted by them? I assume you didn't respond positively...
enjoymyatelier: i am just done with this shit (ugh whatever)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-07-05 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I was actually somewhat interested at the time, as I'd been hoping to get some information out of them... but it didn't seem particularly forthcoming, and I have no idea if it would have actually been worth it.
timelymaid: art by <user name=light-brights site=tumblr.com> (+ creeptastic chatter.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-07-13 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. Well, I haven't heard much about them beyond knowing they exist, so...I can't say!

[ basically she has yet to see proof of anything the resistance team has done. ]
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-07-17 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that's about all I got out of my conversation.

[...same for him...]
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (& john. what are you two even doing.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-07-20 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose they could be a really effectively covert organization, but given how...outspoken some of the Team Rocket members are, I find it hard to believe those members wouldn't have called the group out somehow, in one manner or another.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-07-23 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
You'd think that, yes... though, who knows. I'm not sure when they were established... perhaps they were more open before I arrived and suffered for it then.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (= embarrassed.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-07-28 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
...I guess speculation on this is pretty useless without more information, unfortunately. And I can't imagine asking about it publicly would get us any further info.
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-07-30 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
True enough... and I have no intention of joining this organization just to find a few answers that probably don't mean that much in the long run.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (Default)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-08-03 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
I don't, either. I don't actually like joining things without knowing what I'm signing up for, though.
enjoymyatelier: i am just done with this shit (ugh whatever)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-08-06 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Me either, honestly. It just seems like a recipe for disaster.
timelymaid: canon art (= what am i looking at here.)

Basically. It's like signing something without bothering to read the fine print.
