A menagerie of the tragedy that I've caused
Who: Solf J Kimblee (
explosivecombat), Frank Archer (
sadisticwarfare), and anyone in the Ecruteak area who wants to engage them – OPEN LOG, don't forget to do the thing and tag yourself in!
Where: Ecruteak City
When: Forward-dated; morning of November 14, 2014
Summary: They've declared war.
Rating: PG-13 or thereabouts. ...Look, if this goes badly, it's basically going to be MICHAEL BAY PRESENTS: THE LOG.
Log:
It's a lovely day out.
While the last attack had been delayed by too much snow to be pleasant, it seems that the weather is with him today; the sun has been out and the temperatures high for the season, and overall, he finds that he can't complain.
The bombs have been set. The residents of Ecruteak have "forgotten." And unlike the hotel room he was holed up in last time, the room he's in is very, very dark.
It's not to say that there's no light; the device in his hand is offering a light ambient glow from the numbers adorning its face. There are a few of them; he allows his fingers to trail over them idly while he waits. Exactly what he's waiting for is a little difficult to say; perhaps it's just a matter of dramatic timing.
Some of those numbers are pressed down after a while, codes of some sort. He pauses for a moment; catches his breath.
Clicks the red switch at the top.
Hopefully no one was particularly close to the museum, as that explosion is going to be a nice one. Not enough to take the building down, mind you, but more than enough to take out a good portion of it. (Sorry about the lawns on those houses nearby, by the way; they're going to be looking a little rough after the fact.)
He closes his eyes once it's done, a light smile crossing his features underneath the hooded mask; it's been a while since he's done this, but the sound is just as beautiful to him as it always is.
Let's begin.
[OOC: Notes on how to play are here! If you have any questions, feel free to throw a comment on that post and I'll get to it ASAP.
Right now, the goal is to pick a location within the city - and literally any of the major landmarks are fair game - put it in your top-level, and we'll lead you from there!]
[OOC PART II: Here's your progress tracker, guys.
Bomb 1 - museum: DETONATED
Bomb 2 - location currently unknown: STILL ACTIVE
Bomb 3 - location currently unknown: STILL ACTIVE
Bomb 4 - pokémon center: NEUTRALIZED
Bomb 5 - location currently unknown: STILL ACTIVE
Bomb 6 - outdoor soundstage: DETONATED
Bomb 7 - bell tower: STILL ACTIVE
Bomb 8 - location currently unknown: STILL ACTIVE
You've got your work cut out for you, Hero Squad. Godspeed. :|b ]

Up next is floor #3 which is where things start to get a little weird. Hope you brought your bike, Kayneth!
...Nah, just kidding. There aren't any weird holes in those beams there, you can walk straight across them. They are kind of narrow, so hopefully you don't fall!]
no subject
...he's admittedly starting to get a little tired at this point, but like hell if he'll stop. Again, if his Pokemon find anything amiss, he'll head over to it... but if not, he'll continue his ascent, and his Pokemon will follow him up.]
no subject
You might pick up on the smell of smoke before you hit the fourth floor, but even if you don't it'll be obvious that there's a lot of smoke here. There are flames around the central pillar, spilling out toward the west, blocking off the paths to reach the ladder in the northwest. You might be able to get to the ladder in the southwest if you want to get near the flames. The ladder in the southeast is perfectly safe, however.]
no subject
he is alone and the only people who will hear him are his Pokemon.]
God damnit, Seth!
[HE'LL... SEND HIS QUAGSIRE OUT FOR NOW, PREPARED TO RECALL HIM AS SOON AS HE GETS TO THE SOUTHEAST LADDER]
Use Rain Dance, quickly!
[That handy dandy indoor sprinkler system might help keep the tower from burning down, even if he's taking the safe route to the fifth floor. Like hell he wants to break through the floor walking on fire-weakened beams...!]
no subject
It might look like everything is perfectly fine here - nothing's on fire, at least - but you'll soon find that someone really doesn't want you to make any more progress here. The beams leading over to the central tower have been destroyed. Getting over to those ladders on the western side of the room is going to be difficult. It's definitely too far of a gap to jump over.]
no subject
like on top of everything else
on top of everything else... well, he can take that out on Seth if he ever runs into him. For now, he's going to let out the previously recalled Noctowl and see if she can... fly him over, then.
She doesn't actually know Fly, but for such a short distance she's perfectly capable of carrying him to the central tower's platform. He'll head for the next ladder up, then...!]
no subject
Floor #6 is mostly free of those thin platforms, but now you have a new addition to the architecture here: bridges! Well, you would have bridges if someone hadn't cut them down in the middle. Whoops.
The bridges are still intact on both sides, but the ropes connecting them have all been cut. So now what?]
no subject
like he was considering it until he realized he could do that
...she is seeming a little tired at this point, though, so if there's something similar on the next floor he might have to come up with a different solution...]
no subject
Good job using your head, Kayneth! You saved yourself some valuable time and now you're on floor #7! You might want to watch your step since it looks like someone decided to freeze the floor.
Oh, but a frozen floor isn't the only thing you have to worry about here! There isn't a ladder here leading up to the next floor! Instead there are some weird glowing panels on the floor. Investigate?]
no subject
...he will experimentally poke it with his foot.]
no subject
thankfully the panel will be generous and teleport all of you and not just your foot. You're now standing in that middle platform on the western side! Watch your step on the ice, because of course it's over here as well. Seth clearly doesn't go halfway here.]
no subject
Let's see where the next panel goes!
no subject
Floor #8 has... some bridges and warp pads. The bridges are once again cut in the center, so hopefully your Noctowl is feeling rested! You're starting at the warp tile in the center to the north that's sort of hidden behind the pillar; which way will you go?]
no subject
no subject
Implying I'm not making this up instead of doing my research? HAHAHAHAIt'll take you to the middle where the central pillar is! Unfortunately there's nothing here. No items, no destruction, nothing. Looks like you found a dead end!]
no subject
...that would be a disappointment, but from the central pillar, it's a quick flight to the one almost immediately to the west. What's this glowy do...?]
no subject
There isn't any ice here, no fire, and no missing sections of the floor. That's good! What's not-so-good is the bomb sitting up against the central pillar near the ladder leading upwards. It's not ticking, but there is a red light that blinks occasionally on top of the bomb.]
no subject
...honestly, he'd been wondering if there even was one, but.... well, now that it's blinking and whatnot, he'll head over to the glowy panel to the west on that same platform, as that'll conserve Artemisia's energy. Where does that take him?]

he's still in a dream...

...with that said, given the urgency of things, she flies Kayneth across the one last gap as Grey floats over, uncertainly holding the bomb a foot or so in front of him like a particularly fragile, particularly unpleasant rotten egg
fortunately, as soon as they get outside, Kayneth has a plan of what to do with the bomb until he can figure out a way to detonate it, if that's necessary... but for now, the last ladder. He climbs up first, while Grey and the bomb float behind him.
He can't really stop to think about things, but after... all of that, he's aware that something extra might be waiting for him at the top. Well, if he didn't have full confidence in his abilities, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere, would he?]
