explosivecombat: (What we are in the dark)

A menagerie of the tragedy that I've caused

Who: Solf J Kimblee ([personal profile] explosivecombat), Frank Archer ([personal profile] sadisticwarfare), and anyone in the Ecruteak area who wants to engage them – OPEN LOG, don't forget to do the thing and tag yourself in!
Where: Ecruteak City
When: Forward-dated; morning of November 14, 2014
Summary: They've declared war.
Rating: PG-13 or thereabouts. ...Look, if this goes badly, it's basically going to be MICHAEL BAY PRESENTS: THE LOG.
Log:

It's a lovely day out.

While the last attack had been delayed by too much snow to be pleasant, it seems that the weather is with him today; the sun has been out and the temperatures high for the season, and overall, he finds that he can't complain.

The bombs have been set. The residents of Ecruteak have "forgotten." And unlike the hotel room he was holed up in last time, the room he's in is very, very dark.

It's not to say that there's no light; the device in his hand is offering a light ambient glow from the numbers adorning its face. There are a few of them; he allows his fingers to trail over them idly while he waits. Exactly what he's waiting for is a little difficult to say; perhaps it's just a matter of dramatic timing.

Some of those numbers are pressed down after a while, codes of some sort. He pauses for a moment; catches his breath.

Clicks the red switch at the top.

Hopefully no one was particularly close to the museum, as that explosion is going to be a nice one. Not enough to take the building down, mind you, but more than enough to take out a good portion of it. (Sorry about the lawns on those houses nearby, by the way; they're going to be looking a little rough after the fact.)

He closes his eyes once it's done, a light smile crossing his features underneath the hooded mask; it's been a while since he's done this, but the sound is just as beautiful to him as it always is.

Let's begin.

[OOC: Notes on how to play are here! If you have any questions, feel free to throw a comment on that post and I'll get to it ASAP.

Right now, the goal is to pick a location within the city - and literally any of the major landmarks are fair game - put it in your top-level, and we'll lead you from there!]

[OOC PART II: Here's your progress tracker, guys.

enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[...welp, if it's basically the same as floor one, he'll... look around the central pillar a bit and have Grey look in the other corner, but if there's nothing there, he'll head straight for the next ladder up.]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 07)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Thankfully this is not Sprout Tower and the central pillar isn't moving! In fact it's completely ordinary. Grey won't find anything in the other corner either. This floor is empty as well!

Up next is floor #3 which is where things start to get a little weird. Hope you brought your bike, Kayneth!

...Nah, just kidding. There aren't any weird holes in those beams there, you can walk straight across them. They are kind of narrow, so hopefully you don't fall!]
enjoymyatelier: no seriously what are you doing (uhhhhhhhh....)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
[...oookay, this is getting a bit strange... well, time is of the essence, so he'll step up the observation. He'll leave out his Noctowl and Altaria, too, and Grey will tell them to start looking around the other three corners of the room while Kayneth again heads for the ladder up.

...he's admittedly starting to get a little tired at this point, but like hell if he'll stop. Again, if his Pokemon find anything amiss, he'll head over to it... but if not, he'll continue his ascent, and his Pokemon will follow him up.]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 02)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
[Aside from the weird floor here, there really isn't much to see.

You might pick up on the smell of smoke before you hit the fourth floor, but even if you don't it'll be obvious that there's a lot of smoke here. There are flames around the central pillar, spilling out toward the west, blocking off the paths to reach the ladder in the northwest. You might be able to get to the ladder in the southwest if you want to get near the flames. The ladder in the southeast is perfectly safe, however.]
enjoymyatelier: by which i mean not at all (KAYNETH used FRUSTRATION!)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[...

he is alone and the only people who will hear him are his Pokemon.]

God damnit, Seth!

[HE'LL... SEND HIS QUAGSIRE OUT FOR NOW, PREPARED TO RECALL HIM AS SOON AS HE GETS TO THE SOUTHEAST LADDER]

Use Rain Dance, quickly!

[That handy dandy indoor sprinkler system might help keep the tower from burning down, even if he's taking the safe route to the fifth floor. Like hell he wants to break through the floor walking on fire-weakened beams...!]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 02)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
[Smart man! The fires will definitely die down thanks to the rain. On to floor #5!

It might look like everything is perfectly fine here - nothing's on fire, at least - but you'll soon find that someone really doesn't want you to make any more progress here. The beams leading over to the central tower have been destroyed. Getting over to those ladders on the western side of the room is going to be difficult. It's definitely too far of a gap to jump over.]
enjoymyatelier: fistclench. (GET BENT)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[...he's so fucking pissed that you've had your merry way with a cultural landmark

like on top of everything else

on top of everything else... well, he can take that out on Seth if he ever runs into him. For now, he's going to let out the previously recalled Noctowl and see if she can... fly him over, then.

She doesn't actually know Fly, but for such a short distance she's perfectly capable of carrying him to the central tower's platform. He'll head for the next ladder up, then...!]
sadisticwarfare: (Default)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[No problems there! Good thing you had a Flying-type!

Floor #6 is mostly free of those thin platforms, but now you have a new addition to the architecture here: bridges! Well, you would have bridges if someone hadn't cut them down in the middle. Whoops.

The bridges are still intact on both sides, but the ropes connecting them have all been cut. So now what?]
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
[...why should he fuck around with broken bridges when he can have his Noctowl fly him right on over to the platform right next to him

like he was considering it until he realized he could do that

...she is seeming a little tired at this point, though, so if there's something similar on the next floor he might have to come up with a different solution...]
sadisticwarfare: (Default)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh sure, go for the easy solution I see how it is!!

Good job using your head, Kayneth! You saved yourself some valuable time and now you're on floor #7! You might want to watch your step since it looks like someone decided to freeze the floor.

Oh, but a frozen floor isn't the only thing you have to worry about here! There isn't a ladder here leading up to the next floor! Instead there are some weird glowing panels on the floor. Investigate?]
enjoymyatelier: what is that thing doing here... (>warily regard bullet)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[HE'S GETTING REAL TIRED OF YOUR SHIT, SETH... well, okay, he'll carefully head on over to the first glowy panel that doesn't involve any having a Pokemon fly him over or what have you, to give Artemisia a rest.

...he will experimentally poke it with his foot.]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 02)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[KAYNETH NO THAT'S A DAMN GOOD WAY TO LOSE A FOOT

thankfully the panel will be generous and teleport all of you and not just your foot. You're now standing in that middle platform on the western side! Watch your step on the ice, because of course it's over here as well. Seth clearly doesn't go halfway here.]
enjoymyatelier: actually, it totally will. (aha! a plan that will not end in failure)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[...ah! Well, that's how it works, then! Well, he'll just go ahead and go to the eastern side, moving slowly and clinging to the wall to keep things from getting too precarious.

Let's see where the next panel goes!
sadisticwarfare: (Default)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
[The next panel takes you to an entirely new floor! Hopefully your Pokémon are either in their balls or they're following you.

Floor #8 has... some bridges and warp pads. The bridges are once again cut in the center, so hopefully your Noctowl is feeling rested! You're starting at the warp tile in the center to the north that's sort of hidden behind the pillar; which way will you go?]
enjoymyatelier: actually, it totally will. (aha! a plan that will not end in failure)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[...well, that did give Artemisia a bit of a rest, so he's able to head southeast and fly over that bridge, landing on the glowy panel that's there! WHERE DOES IT GOOOOOO it's been forever since I played HGSS]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 02)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
[Implying I'm not making this up instead of doing my research? HAHAHAHA

It'll take you to the middle where the central pillar is! Unfortunately there's nothing here. No items, no destruction, nothing. Looks like you found a dead end!]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[...yeah i get you

...that would be a disappointment, but from the central pillar, it's a quick flight to the one almost immediately to the west. What's this glowy do...?]
sadisticwarfare: (Default)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Congratulations, you've been transported to floor #9! You're starting in the northeast near all those statues.

There isn't any ice here, no fire, and no missing sections of the floor. That's good! What's not-so-good is the bomb sitting up against the central pillar near the ladder leading upwards. It's not ticking, but there is a red light that blinks occasionally on top of the bomb.]
enjoymyatelier: what is that thing doing here... (>warily regard bullet)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[...ah... there it is. the bomb.

...honestly, he'd been wondering if there even was one, but.... well, now that it's blinking and whatnot, he'll head over to the glowy panel to the west on that same platform, as that'll conserve Artemisia's energy. Where does that take him?]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 02)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[That'll set you down on the opposite side of the room, in the east. There's a bunch of those skinny platforms you can walk on, or you could just fly on over to the middle platform.]
enjoymyatelier: actually, it totally will. (aha! a plan that will not end in failure)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[He will just go ahead and fly on over, then! Now, that means he can get a bit of a closer look at the bomb... and he'll recall Artemisia and send Grey back out. He expects to be able to carry it with teleknesis, but first he needs to know if there's anything that seems like it'll trigger if he even does that... so he'll examine it a bit.]
sadisticwarfare: (Default)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
[The bomb is about the size of a person's head and it's nestled right next to the central pillar. The outside is a smooth black metal and aside from the light on top, there's really nothing to note about it. Your Pokémon might be able to catch onto a chemical smell. It's not bound to the pillar or the ground, it's just sitting there.]
enjoymyatelier: cue the red exclamation point over kiritsugu's head (jiiiiiiii...)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-12 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[...right, then. First thing is to get that thing out of the building, and the easiest way to do that is to have Grey pick it up via telekinesis and carry it up behind Kayneth as he climbs another ladder. He may have a good idea of what to do about it from the roof when he gets there, but for now...

he's still in a dream...

snake eater...]
sadisticwarfare: (♕ 02)

[personal profile] sadisticwarfare 2014-11-12 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, you've made it to the tenth floor! The first thing you'll probably notice is that there's no way across to the platform with the ladder; the wooden beams there are gone!]
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2014-11-13 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
[...at this point Artemisia just looks kind of cross when Kayneth lets her out of the Pokeball, because how many times are you going to do this. be more creative, sir

...with that said, given the urgency of things, she flies Kayneth across the one last gap as Grey floats over, uncertainly holding the bomb a foot or so in front of him like a particularly fragile, particularly unpleasant rotten egg

fortunately, as soon as they get outside, Kayneth has a plan of what to do with the bomb until he can figure out a way to detonate it, if that's necessary... but for now, the last ladder. He climbs up first, while Grey and the bomb float behind him.

He can't really stop to think about things, but after... all of that, he's aware that something extra might be waiting for him at the top. Well, if he didn't have full confidence in his abilities, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere, would he?]
