You have no chance to survive
Who: Rocket Grunts, Magma Grunts, and Aqua Grunts! Basically all the Grunts!
Where: The Whirl Islands and Cinnabar Island
When: February 1st
Summary: Pretty much this
Rating: PG-13? It doesn't need to higher than that? Right, guys?
Log:
The orders are pretty simple. Go in. Wipe out the Team Aqua and Magma Grunts. That's it. So there's not going to be any farewell speeches or anything like that from the Admins because they're of the opinion that you guys have totally got this.
And if you don't...
Well, don't worry about that for now.
Instead, just worry about getting to the nearest base and boarding a helicopter. After that, you've got a short (or long, depending on which base you're heading to) ride ahead of you to some islands in the middle of the ocean, inhabited by a bunch of Aqua and Magma Grunts who have no idea this surprise is on the way. So just do what you do best, Rockets!
And as far as the Admins are concerned what you do best should be to win at all costs. Anything less and well, that would just be an embarrassing return to the region for them. And nobody wants that.

[These two aren't messing around, it seems...
...good! Emmy can feel adrenaline starting to pound through her body, and she clenches her fists, trying not to act too excited.
...she's still pretty excited. She'd be more excited if she wasn't stuck battling with Archer, but, well...it could be worse.
...somehow.]
Slow me down all you like, it won't matter! Simon, use Brick Break!
[That Lvl 42 Mightyena should probably brace itself; he may be plodding along, but Simon is still rather determined to see his Brick Break attack connect.]
no subject
[Archer smirks at that, but the expression quickly fades when the Alakazam lets him know exactly how powerful the Pokémon they're facing are. What kind of Grunts have Pokémon that are this strong??
The Alakazam uses Protect to block the attack, then counters with Disable. Because you know, it's Archer. And clearly he has to try to be a jerk to these Grunts.]
no subject
“No way!”
However since her partner's annoyed with Crunch being disabled, he'll change things up a bit.
“Taunt Scrafty! Try and get it to hit you so we can wash it away!”
Unfortunately no one explained to this Grunt that Taunt just makes the Pokemon attack for several turns and doesn't actually...draw its fire towards a specific Pokemon. How he ended up with a Pokemon in the 80s and never learned that is anyone's guess. Apparently no one explained that Mightyena can't actually wash anything away either.
Meanwhile since he's attacking Scrafty now, she'll go after Alakazam.
“Assurance!”
And there's a headfirst charge directed at Alakazam now. They're both trying, at least.
no subject
[With a smug look at Archer, Emmy returns her focus to the battlefield, where Simon is currently looking furious thanks to that Taunt. It was certainly an...odd choice of attack, admittedly, but if these two are less than competent, she's hardly going to complain.]
Use Brick Break again!
[Why mess with a good thing? Besides, Emmy has always been the sort to prefer just getting in there and attacking with all her might, rather than getting too strategic. Simon has a clear advantage over these two, so why not take advantage of it? Now to see how he'll do against that clearly stronger Mightyena.]

It connects, but even with Alakazam's low defenses, she manages to stay standing. She still looks bored, but she counters moments later with Dazzling Gleam. Good thing he bothered loading up his Pokémon with useful TMs because otherwise this Alakazam would be doing nothing. She's definitely not going to be able to take another hit from that other Mightyena though, so that's definitely something to look out for.]
no subject
What, were you expecting Water Pokemon from Team Aqua?
“Roar! Switch that Scrafty out for something else!”
Looks like they're switching again since it's the female Grunt giving that command. And on the other side of things since it seemed to work okay for her Pokemon, he'll just copy what she did last turn.
“Assurance! Take that Alakazam down!”
no subject
[Emmy can't help but take a surprised step back as Simon disappears back into the Pokeball at her belt, thanks to that Roar. The one who then pops out happens to be her Greninja, who looks rather pleased to be getting the chance to fight.]
Right! If that's how you want to play it - Fiona, use Water Pulse!
[She'll aim her attack for that female grunt's Mightyena, then!
...
...seriously do these guys have any Water Pokemon, or]
no subject
Queen, Iron Defense.
[And she'll promptly boost her defense as ordered.]
no subject
“Don't take that from these Rockets! Hit that Greninja with Bite!”
Which confuses her teammate here.
“We're not switching this time?”
“No way, I don't have anything that can hit that Bisharp! He's all yours.”
“Seriously? Ugh.”
He doesn't really have anything that'll work on it either, but he'll try and just not deal with it for now.
“Use Roar! Switch that out for something I can actually hit!”
Wow, just announce your failures to the world, why don't you?
no subject
I never thought I'd say this, but I think we actually make a better team than these two do. Fiona, finish that Mightyena with another Water Pulse.
[And Fiona does just that; she's not very impressed with her opponents, so her attack will be strong and fast.]
no subject
...also guess who's back out again and not looking too pleased.]
Alicia, just use Reflect. This is getting ridiculous.
[The Alakazam complies and sets up the barrier. She still looks completely bored.]
At least you brought some useful Pokémon for the job.
[That remark is directed at Emmy. It's probably the closest to a compliment you'll get from Archer, so hooray?]
no subject
“Assurance! Come on, hit! Take that thing out!”
Mightyena's going to make another run at Alakazam. Which isn't going to get any less boring, but hey, it doesn't have to be exciting so long as Team Aqua wins.
But the other Grunt seems to have an idea, which might change things up a little.
“Hey, give me one of your Pokemon.”
“What?”
There's an eye roll directed at her teammate.
“Do you want to face the two of them on your own?”
“Well, no, I...”
“So give me one.”
“Fine, here.”
He just grabs one at random, and she tosses the ball out, revealing...a level 94 Golbat. And he doesn't look very happy about that for some reason.
“All right! Air Slash!”
Golbat flaps its wings, sending super sharp air currents at their opponents' Pokemon. Could things actually be turning around for the Aqua Grunts?
no subject
[...okay, apparently none of the Double Battle teams can get along at the moment, but...at least they're winning!!
...well, sort-of. That Golbat looks powerful and Emmy isn't too happy to see it. Fortunately, she's got someone who would be perfect for this job.]
Henry!
[She lets Fiona take the Air Slash - it's more important that her Heliolisk keeps his health, considering that's how they're going to beat that Golbat.
...because clearly Archer is useless!!]
Thunderbolt! Take out that Golbat!
no subject
...Then the Air Slash hits and well. So much for Archer's Alakazam. He looks irritated by that and once again calls out the Bisharp.]
Iron Head, Queen. If that Golbat's still standing after that attack, I want it wiped out.
[So she'll go charging in after that attack, then!!
And NO U EMMY you try fighting a high leveled Pokémon when yours has a serious type disadvantage okay!!!!]
no subject
“Hey, I'm still here! Let me remind you by hitting that Heliolisk with a Take Down!”
Mightyena darts forward towards its new target because, let's be honest here, anything against that Bisharp isn't going to do much damage.
“Golbat! Confuse Ray on Bisharp!”
Yeah, they can't really hurt it. But maybe they can confuse it so it hurts itself? Clearly these two are master strategists.
no subject
...
...okay, very stupid. Besides, Archer would probably laugh at her, and we can't have that!]
Thunderbolt again, Henry! I'm getting tired of these two!
[No sense in changing a good thing, after all; once Henry is back on his feet after that Take Down attack (which hurt, darn you!), he immediately fires off another Thunderbolt at that Golbat. Fighting Flying types is his favourite!]

And leaves both Grunts without a Pokemon on the field, so this time, he's just going to hand her a Pokeball before she asks, but oddly enough he still doesn't look, confident is probably about the right word, confident in their chances of winning here.
“All right! Let's finish this!” she exclaims throwing the Pokeball and sending out...a Poochenya. A level 3 Poochenya. His Pokemon? A level 12 Zubat. Yup. That's what they're making their last stand with.
“Why did you even bring these Pokemon? Didn't they just hatch a couple weeks ago?”
“Yeah, but how was I supposed to know we'd get invaded today?”
Bickering ensues instead of y'know, giving any commands or anything.
no subject
...she'll think about that later. At this stage, it's pretty clear that the two of them are going to win. After all, isn't that...just a puppy...?
...this feels really cruel, but...]
Use Thundershock on the...Zubat.
[Please don't beat up the puppy too bad, Archer...]
no subject
The Gallade looks a little appalled by his order, but he carries them out. He rushes forward in an attempt to land a Close Combat on that poor Poochyena because apparently Archer just isn't satisfied without overkill.]
no subject
“...we lost.”
The male Grunt just sort of throws his hands up because yeah, that happened.
“It's your fault. You're the one who brought your stupid baby Pokemon. Wait till Archie hears about this.”
And she's going to Escape Rope out of here, leaving him to try and run out of the room to go...grab one since apparently he forgot one today. Most competent Grunts ever!
1/2
Hah! We won! Take that, Team Aqua!
2/2
I...!
[Right, Archer is still here, um. Right.
...god, this is kind of awkward-]
...well. I guess that's that, then!
[...what. what now]
no subject
That said, Archer doesn't bother trying to stop them, instead recalling the Gallade. Emmy's remark earns a look, but he doesn't seem all that bothered now.]
...You were better than I thought you'd be.
[ARCHER YOU DID NOTHING THE WHOLE BATTLE, SHUT UP]
no subject
[That was nowhere near as grumpy as it could have been, however, so...!
...
are we really just going to stand here being awkward WHY THIS-]
...you're not using Alekhine anymore, then?
[THIS IS REALLY AWKWARD]
