Envy | Fullmetal Alchemist
'On' being the key word there, because he's not inside in the passenger cars. No, he's crouched on top of one of the cars, head up and the wind making his hair stream out behind him. He doesn't seem to be having the slightest trouble staying balanced.
The train is traveling through a dense pine forest, with no visible civilization or anything manmade to be seen other than the train and its tracks, stretching out ahead and behind.
Because this is a good idea, right?
Ever the one to leap before he looked, Duo started to climb. He held on for dear life and as he peeked over the edge of the car, he noticed a person. His eyes went wide.
"Hey! You're gonna fall off!"
He started to point at the person there, but he nearly lost his balance and had to grab hold with both hands again.

Lightning Farron | Final Fantasy XIII
At last, the scenery changes to the sleeping city of Luxerion. She steps off of the train, taking off her sunglasses and looking around. "... This is the North Station..." Why was she here? She walked into the city, trying to desperately figure out why she needed to be here right now, and what she was looking for.
[[ooc: if you don't want spoilers, i recommend not tagging this since it's third game based.]

But then she'd ended up here, in a completely new place. It's quiet, and quite unlike anything she's ever seen. It has a distinct sense of gloom to it, and Naminé finds herself vaguely unsettled by the whole place. Part of her is expecting to find no one. The other part is hoping she does.
That voice is familiar. She turns and relaxes visibly, a little smile tugging at her lips.
"Lightning."

Carter Blake | Heavy Rain
He's not sure what he's headed toward. Away's more important. The curves in the road take all his attention, so he doesn't need to think. To the left cliffs fall away into the sea, and the air smells like fresh salt, and wooed hills spread to the right.
Speed limits are for civilians.
He leans into the turns and doesn't pay any attention to the animal crossing signs bearing silhouettes that don't look like deer.

It would be a shame if something...
happened to it.
So a pegasus swoops down and starts flying low next to Blake in the wrong goddamn lane, because hahaha, what even are travel lanes? Her rider is from Fantasy Not Europe and what is this. They're going so fast that Cynthia isn't sure if Blake would hear her, so she's just going to try and wave.

This is where Nagi finds himself as he walks slowly ahead with his Lunatone hovering behind him, her bright blue eyes providing an extra bit of light in the already ethereal gloom. There is no one else here other than Nagi, and the most immediately recognizable fact is how quiet everything is. His footsteps don’t make any sound as he walks, and neither will anyone else's who happens upon this endless hallway. But it must lead somewhere...
Cecil Harvey | Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Dissidia: Final Fantasy)
And as far as his world is concerned, there is no greater style than the Lunar Whale soaring through space, on its way to...
To be honest, he's not quite sure where he's going.
But it's been years since he's last been able to appreciate the bizarre thrum of the ship beneath his feet, or the way the control crystal glows with every touch and thought. He's all alone at the moment, but that's fine. The night is young, and there are plenty of beds ready for future passengers.

Plus, there was someone familiar on board, as well...
"This is certainly unique. Where are we, exactly...?"

Heather Mason | Silent Hill
The world seemed to get a lot smaller once you earned the right to Fly, and it was easy to forget the long dusty roads that stretched through miles of mountains and grasslands between each of the cities.
It's one of these paths that Heather's found herself on after finding her way out of wherever she'd started this dream journey in (Rust. Broken locks. Don't ask. Silent Hill shit), a broad yellow path cutting through a field, with dark green smudges of trees in the distance, promising shade.
The sun beats down and Bug-types chitter and whirr, unseen, in the long dry grass.
She can feel blisters on her heels and dirt under her fingernails, and a heavy ache where the strap of her backpack cuts into her shoulder.
Heather smiles.
She'd forgotten how much she liked the trip.
Bouncing the pack a little higher, she keeps walking, puffs of dust kicking up off the toes of her shoes as she goes.
She can see flashes of orange and black popping out of the grass here and there only to disappear again-- Cujo's already run ahead, chasing Sentrets. She doesn't bother calling him.
They're both headed for the same place.

- well, that sure is a red-tailed hawk chasing the Braviary, wheeling around so that he comes back towards Heather.
<Hey!> He lets out a shriek, wild and joyful, as he lands on the Ursaring's head.

Before Rise could call him back, there went Fukuro. Himiko let out a delighted squeal and ran after him as fast as her little legs could carry her. This just forced Rise to run after them. "W-Wait!"
The trouble with Fukuro was that his balance was terrible. He lands in front of Heather just fine... and then proceeds to fall over even though he was on both feet. He hoots at Heather like this didn't bother him.

But then, he's not human here either. The dirt road doesn't bother his feet even without shoes, and the sun isn't going to burn him. He could walk all day and carry a whole campsite on his back and not get tired.
Very convenient. But somehow, it's almost lacking something.
But if you're going traveling in Johto, it's always best to do so with friends, and when he sees Heather up ahead on the road he grins and puts on a burst of speed to catch up.

Carlos the Scientist | Welcome to Night Vale
I am so sorry!
However all was not lost. In the distance he sees a familiar face and he quickly rushes over to the dear sweet Carlos. His footsteps are quiet and calm. It isn't long before he gently taps upon the scientist shoulder]
Carlooooossss, why hello!
Don't even worry about it I've been waiting for this haha ;)
YES! SHALL we go to the prom together dear?
HISSSSSS
I'll brush your hair!!!
Okay that's nice but I don't trust you
Gosh trust is so overrated!
Hahaha yeah. That trust thing doesn't matter. Nope. No way.

Phoenix Wright | Ace Attorney
Which was just PERFECT, of course, because -- because it was his premier court case today, right? That's why he was running down the sidewalk in such a rush, after all. He had just got his badge back, he couldn't possibly be late --
-- except Phoenix doesn't exactly remember being in this part of the city before. Nothing seemed familiar. In fact, it seemed...dull and indistinct. He couldn't make out the features on any of the buildings, and the street just seemed to...well, it never seemed to end. Phoenix slowed down to a quick walk, confused, bewildered.
"Ai?" Prin coos, the Aipom and his Shinx ambling along beside the lawyer. Phoenix bends down to scoop her up, and is struck by a sense of unease. Something was off, but what was it, exactly? Pokemon were allowed in court, right? Why wouldn't they be? (And even if they weren't, he could probably sneak them in.)
But the more Phoenix thinks about it, and the more he walks, he slowly starts to realize that he may not be going to court after all. Wasn't his big court debut months ago...?
no subject
This city is not one she has ever been in. What makes it stranger is that somehow some of her Pokémon had followed her. Ambling along beside her was her pride and joy, Vanille, who was now a Ampharos. On the other side was Sinopa, her Vulpix, who looked as confused as her trainer about being here.
The last had flown ahead of them. Her Noibat, Anima. She's spotted something and was heading straight for it. The small Noibat was rather rash at times and zooms right past Phoenix's head at full speed. Realizing she's overshot yet another target, she stops herself and turns around. So now there's a Noibat in your face, Phoenix, chirping with interest.

Anyone first entering the dream will find themselves standing on the street before the sound of trashcans being loudly knocked over shatters the silence and a figure goes running past at the far end of the alley. Kaneki is very clearly running from something, taking as many detours and back alleys as he can. Slamming into the trash cans has obviously slowed him a bit, eyes wide with terror as he staggers in his haste to get moving again. He can't stop because he can hear that he's being followed, high, faint laughter following him as well no matter where he goes.
[OOC: Kaneki's being chased here, and depending on how threads go and if what's after him happens to make an appearance there may be some mention of blood but no gore or anything above PG13 and absolutely no mention of cannibalism or anything of the like.]

And running along the path was Atsuro on a Cerberus, clutching tightly with one hand and his other holding onto his Lanturn. An Arcanine was running beside him while a Dedenne was holding on tightly. They're running towards something. Or was it away from something?
Atsuro don't know, just that he got to keep on moving.
Ryner Lute :: The Legend of the Legendary Heroes
Just a single horse, and far less fancy than anything your typical nobleman would ride. It's basically a box with a simple tarp to fit over it, to be honest. But it keeps the food dry when it rains, if nothing else, and Ferris will have a fit if this dango delivery goes anything less than perfectly.
He's keeping the pace slow and calm. There's no rush. And might as well enjoy the nice day, right? The birds are chirping in the trees, the sun is warm but not overly hot...
no subject
"On your left!"
And, indeed, should Ryner look to his left as those hoofbeats pass, he'd see a certain silver-haired king astride a white horse.

She sighed, glancing down at her feet. The last time she had been on a journey like this, she at least had a companion with her.

saber. fate/stay night. garden of avalon spoilers.
No, that isn't true for the most part. Kings were often ambitious men who thrived off of desire and wanting. These thoughts are what would guide them to conquer others and grant them remarkable feats worthy of being passed down in history. For Saber, dreams were nothing more than training to be a good king.
This was the fate passed down to her. The fate she gripped tightly in her hand and withdrew from the stone. The fate that came with the guidance of the all knowing incubus known as Merlin. The fate that eventually rewarded her entry into the safe haven created at the end of the Age of Gods.
Dreaming for Saber has simply never existed for her beyond Johto. When she was here last, there was a pink Pokemon who consumed whatever dreams may have been and since her return, sleep has just been peaceful. With a feather in her possession however...
... so does anyone need a ride? Saber's riding skill is surprisingly well, but she might ask for some money so that their ride can continue. Yes, it does take coins. ]

Her dreamscape is a forest in winter, trees bare of any leaves, no sign of civilization, just endless dead vegetation in any conceivable direction.
And maybe, flicking out around the edges of perception, there are things that look like some sort of predatory animal... But then, they could just be a trick of the light. It's hard to tell, really.]
