[Well that causes his expression to sour a bit, but he does his best to keep it level otherwise. He's certain that Elsa is relishing having so much knowledge over him about this place, and he's not about to let her get wise to how much this is bothering him.]
Who is there to fool? It is as you said; this isn't Arendelle. It doesn't matter.
[Oh, you better believe she's enjoying being the one with more control right now.]
Oh, I don't know. You seemed to have every other dignitary and ambassador convinced you were who you pretended to be, so I just assumed you manipulated everyone you met.
[There's no hint of a lie in her voice. She's being a hundred percent honest.]
Unlike some royals, I don't exactly take pleasure in dragging the names of my enemies through the mud. You weren't here, so there was no point in mentioning you at all.
[...wow okay this conversation isn't going the way he had anticipated at all.]
...I see. If it is all the same, it would be no offense to me if I didn't have to stay here.
[Especially not when she's here, even though it's nicer than what's going on back home. Neither scenario is very appealing all of a sudden, but it seems like he doesn't have a choice either way.]
Oh, you're more than welcome to find a way out. But there are people that have been here going on five years and they haven't found so much as a clue on how we're brought here or how we leave.
So you might just be here for some time. Who knows.
[She won't mention that people do get sent home often. She's not going to give him something that he could possibly rub in her face.]
[She doesn't believe him. Not one bit. Why should she, after the things he's done?]
It's as I said, I won't attempt to drag your name through the mud. [She looks down at Fenrir, who has since stopped growling, but is following Hans's every little movement, the thick fur on his neck raised in clear agitation.] And I'll keep my companions in check.
[She takes a single step towards him, and it's only then that the slight crackle of frost can be heard beneath her shoe.]
But if I see you trying to deceive or manipulate any of the people I've come to care for here, I will not be so lenient.
It does. No matter how fiercely you guard a secret or a memory.
[... If he's trying to play the sympathy card here, it's not going to work. Maybe if he hadn't left her sister to die a slow and painful death all alone that might have tugged on her heart a bit. But no.
Elsa tries to be kind, but there are limits, even to that.]
[Anyone who regrets their actions at all wouldn't have gone as far as he did, so. There weren't any questions there.]
Such words would normally anger me, but as any and all damage you did has been reversed and dealt with in the few weeks between my coronation and when I arrived here... well. Reacting in such a way would be pointless.
[It's... a bit of a bluff. There's still a lot of psychological and emotional damage left by his actions, and that's not going to go away anytime soon... but like hell is she going to mention that.
Besides, every time she thinks on that she can just recall the memory of Anna punching him in the face. That definitely helps fight off any bitterness that begins to creep up on her.]
[Elsa flinches just barely noticeably at that, but... she knows his words would hurt a lot more if she didn't have Anna here. She was terribly homesick, yes, but she knew everything would be all right as long as she and Anna were together.]
You truly think returning to a life destined for imprisonment is lucky compared to the life offered here?
I wouldn't know. You see, I'm not the one who has apparently lived the life offered here.
[He answers, a bit of an edge to his words.]
This isn't Arendelle, you said so yourself. Even if you can't return by your own volition, you can't tell me that being here would be better than being in your homeland.
I'm making the best of what was an unfortunate situation to begin with. Can you really fault me for doing that instead of simply sulking about and waiting for something to happen?
[She was passive long enough at home. She wasn't going to keep doing that.]
Of course being here isn't better. I may enjoy myself here, but my home is still my home, and I would freely admit that I miss it.
[Hans opens his mouth to argue, but the moment he does he feels a nudge at one of his gloved hands as his Ponyta puts her nose into it, sniffing. She very much dislikes the feeling of animosity between these two that only seems to be getting worse by the passing second.
He eventually sighs, moving his hand to sortof stroke over the top of the Ponyta's head, careful to avoid the flames even though he knows they won't hurt him.]
I would ask if you and I are the only two here from back home, but I don't think you'll tell me.
[... She can't really walk out of that one, can she? She could lie, but would he really believe her? She could tell the truth, and refuse to explain further, but she's sure he would assume that the other one here with them was Anna. Who knows what might happen then? Unless Anna approaches him first, there's no way in hell or any of the godly realms that she'll let him anywhere near her sister.
She could also be dodgy, but that would probably tip him off as well. Either way, she's sort of at a disadvantage here. She might as well just make things difficult for him.
She sighs heavily, crossing her arms.]
I'm sorry, but I don't feel obligated to tell you that.
[He seems unsurprising by the answer, his gaze wandering as he fights the urge to roll his eyes.]
I figured as much.
[That's fine. If he's obligated to stay much longer, he'll figure it out for himself soon enough.]
Be that as it may, I did mean what I said. Even if you truly are the only other person from Arendelle here, I don't intend to keep up much of a rapport with any of you.
[That ship sortof ends up sailing when you try to murder people.]

I am still royalty, you realize. I don't need to pretend.
[You know, just...literally everything else about him wasn't genuine.]
But if you have been here for months, I'm sure you have already taken the opportunity to sully my name, so you don't have anything to worry about.

I'll be sure to get right on that, then.

Good luck.

[He says after some time, his expression shifting just a bit.]
I don't like this any more than you do, but if you stay out of my way, I'll stay out of yours.

I do not know what you expect me to do. I'm not going to lie.
[Hans' expression darkens a bit as he continues.]
But I'm not going to be terribly open about my past, either.
no subject
Believe me, this place has ways of bringing out things you don't want other people to see.
no subject
[He murmurs, glancing away for just a moment.]
Well. It isn't as if I have much to return home to, do I? It will be preferable either way.

Of course. And if you think I regret anything that happened, I don't.

[That's the only thing he can agree with her on, really.]
Maybe I'll end up leaving this place soon. Then we'll both be lucky in that regard.

I would be surprised if you did, your Highness.
