well the way it works here is that
youre locked into the gig for five days tops
after that youre free to keep at it or leave or jump ship to a different position
so you can sort of think of your job as an ultra mundane and boring and undangerous field mission

I don't suppose you have any who are psychic types, ghosts, or otherwise have an affinity for machines or technological devices, do you? From what I've observed here, it would seem that those types are most inclined towards picking up such skills, though it's certainly not impossible for others to learn.

For that matter, apparently through sufficient effort and practice it's possible for them to learn to speak, at least in some cases.
