Who: [livejournal.com profile] cheapblusuits and [info]everyone's favorite detective ARCHAEOLOGY PROFESSOR, WHY DO YOU KEEP USING THAT WORD
Where: Goldenrod City Café, somewhere near the Department Store.
When: February 3rd, around 2pm!
Summary: With the whole bear fiasco now ~ long behind them ~, Phoenix and the good Professor finally find some time to go on a date chillax and have AWESOME BRO BONDING TIMES. They could really use it.
Rating: PG.
Log:

So, really, who's bright idea had it been to go out for lunch on a day when it was GODDAMN COLD AND RAINY?

Because Phoenix was starting to have a subtle homicidal urge towards whichever one of them had suggested it. With a hasty rub at his forearms and a sneeze, the lawyer muttered a few choice words to himself and continued to meander his way through Goldenrod's icy streets, the freezing splatters on his hunched back doing nothing to improve his mood. Sure, there was nothing about the actual meeting itself that bothered him; he'd been rather looking forward to it, really...until he'd taken a glance outside his window that morning and silently cursed the weather gods of Johto. Really. Phoenix was starting to think that he couldn't ever look forward to anything, because something else would always come along and ruin it for him because obviously, the whole world was conspiring against his well-being.

...well. Either way. Phoenix shook his shoulders to knock away some of the moisture that had clung to the grooves of his hair and continued to truck forward. It's not like he could stand the Professor up.

And, well, what do you know -- following another sneeze, the lawyer glanced back up to see the dim outline of his destination through the rain. Finally

He elbowed the door open quickly, the sudden gust of warm air causing him to flinch involuntarily at the sudden change of temperature. Safely inside, he shook his head again -- not unlike a dog shaking it's fur after frolicking in the rain -- and shrugged the rest of the moisture off of his shoulders. He hoped his suit hadn't gotten wet on the walk over...he WAS wearing the nice one the Professor had gotten him for Christmas, after all, in honor of their get together. It seemed like a good idea.

Dry, now, Phoenix stood on tiptoe to see past the café's entrance barrier searching the crowd for a familiar top-hat. He couldn't be early, could he...? That would be a first.

To be quite honest, the Professor too had been looking quite forward to sit down to drink some tea and enjoy a very late lunch with Mr. Wright. After all, their friendship had been a little...well, on the off side, especially after the infamous Witch trail. Tensions were quite high during that whole adventure, especially in court. The Professor had to admit that his time in court with the lawyer wasn't at all been as successful as he wished. That had been putting a bit on a strain on their relationship, even after if they had teamed up to finally put a closed lid upon the case. So, after thinking that will be the last he will ever see of the man, it was-- to say the very least --quite shocking to see Mr. Wright once again in Johto.

Quite strange how fate worked.

Their friendship in Johto was quite better than back at home. Perhaps because they were no longer on opposite ends or that they may be able to speak without bringing up work that they could actually be friends like normal gentlemen should. Whatever the reason was, nevertheless, the two were on good terms and have been speaking to each other on a regular basis. Of course, that had come straight to an end when the good old Professor had fallen in a coma. Cue a rather dangerous plan of tying up the man to a bear. No matter how many times Mr. Wright or Luke might tried to explain themselves, it was something that the Professor never quite got over. Yes, he did forgive them and appreciate that they tried to do their best to transport him to a doctor, but honestly-- a bear? Even the greatest gentleman out there in the world might be a little rattled by it.

But since waking up from this coma and being untied from said bear, the Professor had been trying his very best to catch up on everything that he had missed in the previous month. He had been contacting all those he had once spoken to before, found out if there has been any large events, drinking tea with friends, and the such. While he had already spent quite some quality time with Miles, Luke, and others, for Mr. Wright, they hadn't spent any at all. Therefore, the only reasonable thing two young gentlemen (or rather one young gentlemen-- The Professor was gaining on the years and nearly forty now) could do was to sit at a cafe and take par in conversations of all sorts. Perhaps, order a cup of tea and a small dish of food as well for a late lunch, but mainly just discussing. Needless to say, Hershel had been looking forward to it. That is...

...Until he took a look outside.

Ice had covered the streets completely from the previous day's rainfall and it was still persisted to drizzle right now. Checking the weather channel on his small telly set in his hotel room told him that today was really not a swell day to head outside. However, today was the day that he had arranged to meet with Mr. Wright, and he surely could not stand him up when he was the one that has made February the third their day to sit and speak to one another.

So, dressing himself in his usual clothes of his orange turtle neck, brown jacket and pants, and-- of course, his beloved top hat, he made sure to bring along an extra jacket and an umbrella for the five minute trip to the café.

Making sure he has had his wallet and keys on him, he locked the door of his room and had setted off to the bone chilling walk. With the large gust of Winter winds blowing past him and the harsh raindrops, the walk had been surely not an easy task. To be quite honest, his top hat had nearly flown away twice and even with an umbrella, his jacket was getting droplets of water on it. Definitely not a very good day, but once the Professor had spotted the café, he had never been more relieved.

He opened the door and stepped inside, embracing just how warm it was. He closed his umbrella and left it by the door to dry off and patted his jacket of any excess water. Straightening his top hat, he made his way into the café and before he could even get to finding a table, it seemed as if Mr. Wright was already here. The Professor couldn't forget that strange spiky hairstyle or just how much taller the man was to him (Mr. Wright always did seem to be a head taller despite nearly the fifteen year gap between them).

With a small tap upon the lawyer's shoulder and clearing his throat, the Professor spoke.

"I apologize for arriving lately. I do hope that you didn't have to wait long, Mr. Wright."
puzzling: (You'll see soon enough Luke)

The Professor nods, tipping his top hat. His smile might not be as large of a grin as Phoenix's, but a smile nevertheless. It might be because the limp hair, but mainly because it's so good to see his lawyer friend again. It hasn't been all that long since they have last seen each other, but still a bit long for someone in the same city.

"Yes, I can say the very same myself," he replies. "Shall we find a table?"
