'Cause Baby, Tonight The DJ's Got Us Falling In Love Again...
Who: EVERYONE
Where: Scenic Tohjo Falls!
When: Friday, April 5 through Saturday, April 6
Summary: WHAT SUMMARY DO YOU NEED, IT'S POKEPROM
Rating: May vary by thread, please mark accordingly!
Log:
It's here! It's here! Clair's first-ever (and, Lance hopes, last-ever) Pokemon Prom is here, coming to you straight from scenic Tohjo Falls! You've packed your bags, you've hitched your rides, and now you're taking your first steps in to a super swank palatial PokeManor where, prior to now, only the pseudo-legendary best of the best had ever tread. Gosh, that must make you pretty special, huh? (Well, you and everyone else in the massive crowd that arrived along with you, that is.) Of course, you're all destined for greatness. But at the moment, your more immediate destiny is forty-eight hours of fun.
So get going!

☆ YOU ARE HERE ☆

KEY:
• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think garden party!
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since this is a house party and not a hotel party, but this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.
• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who would prefer to class it up a little more than just your standard garden party. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.
• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — a sculpture of Lugia, a painting of the Ecruteak City skyline before the Brass Tower burned down, some stone etchings of what might be Fossil Pokemon, and so on. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.
• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.
• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. Of particular note is a glass case with a broken Ultra Ball mounted inside; the brass plaque attached claims it's the ball Lorelei was using when she almost caught Articuno. On a lighter note, there are also pictures of the Elite Four themselves — your standard Official Portraits™, sure, but also some framed candids of them in various configurations hanging out with their Pokemon and engaged in various activities around the house (Agatha making waffles, Lance and Bruno clowning around in the pool, stuff like that).

THE ORIGINAL INFOPOST | QUESTIONS AND INQUIRIES HOTLINE
open
She reached up to fidget with her zubat mask (a habit she'd be in all night probably) and then sucked in a breath, turning her attention away from the dance floor for a moment. Maybe she could find a distraction to stop thinking about dancing...
no subject
"Hey, Kanaya!" Though they've spoken a few times since Christmas, John still can't help but feel like he's walking on eggshells around Kanaya. Especially at an event like this. But ignoring her or walking away wouldn't really help anything and he does want to be friends with her, so... "I like your dress. Did you make it yourself?"
no subject
"Ah, hello John." She offered him a little nod of her head, her gaze settling down on him. Either she was growing, he was shrinking, or she just hadn't noticed how much taller than him he was, but it actually made her feel a little better.
"Yes, I made the dress myself. Thank you," that made her smile, at least. She was rather proud of the dress.
no subject
Nope."It looks really good on you, you did an amazing job. Same with Rose's! I almost didn't believe her when she said you made it for her, I thought for sure it was store bought." He beams...though his smile falters a bit as he seems to realize that maybe that last bit didn't exactly come out as complimentary as he intended. "Not that...there's something wrong with home-made dresses or anything like that! I just meant that you are a very skilled seamstress."
Please don't tell him he already stuck his foot in his mouth this early in the conversation...
no subject
"Thank you," another little head bob, and a genuine smile this time, a bit embarrassed. "I wasn't certain I would finish it in time, so I am glad it turned out well." A beat. "I may have offered to make it without considering how much time I had before the dance."
She also may have spent an entire night sewing, but she was never going to admit that to anyone who wasn't already aware.
"I am glad you like it. And she likes it, I assume." That was the point, after all.
no subject
"Well I certainly wouldn't have guessed that it was a rush job. I am pretty sure that she likes it just as much as I do, if not more. But I wasn't the one who told you that, shhh." He holds a finger to his lips, giggling a little. "Because that's something you probably should hear from her, you know? So, are you enjoying yourself?"
no subject
"I prefer to have more time, but when I don't..." She shrugged, because she would manage regardless of the circumstances. She was just stubborn like that, honestly. And she can't help but smile at that, nodding her head. "I won't mention you said anything," she agreed. And she meant it, because she rather liked John. As much as she didn't want to.
"I am. Once I fished Sunshine out of the pool, at least, I have been. Are you?"
no subject
It's something he had accepted long before the whole SBURB thing. Kind of hard to go to a prom when you're homeschooled, after all. And he always thought he was okay with this fact, but now that he's actually AT one, he's really glad that he got this chance.
"So it's pretty great, yeah."
no subject
"I have to admit, on the whole I was fairly intimidated but as long as I focus on a smaller section of the event, it's...actually fascinating." She paused for a moment.
"Have you had a chance to dance?"
no subject
This settles it. He's going to redouble his efforts to become friends with her. No more being awkward. Fuck being awkward. Somehow that seems really dumb to him now.
"I have had the chance though, yeah. I wasn't about to let all of Valeria and Rose's dancing lessons go to waste, after all!" He grins. "Please tell me that you have too though. Because if you say that nobody has asked you to dance all night then I might be a little bit upset with everybody here because seriously. What the fuck."
no subject
"Ah...I have. Some." She can't decide if she knows what she's doing when it comes to dancing. "I never thought to take lessons though, I have simply been...muddling through as the situation requires."
There were some toe-stepping incidents.
no subject
"So my 'lessons' are actually, basically, a week-long crash course in learning the simplest classical dances and how not to step on people's feet. But uh...if you want we could maybe, erm...you know, like...do the thing..."
You know that moment when you know exactly what you want to say but you can't really figure out how you want to word it, yet you start talking anyway and tie your tongue up in knots? Yeah. John is having one of those moments. Complete with weird hand motions that are really not helping to make his point. Luckily, they aren't anything that could even possibly be construed as anything inappropriate but...seriously what are you pointing to, John, and what is that swooping gesture even supposed to mean?
"Okay, what I mean to say here is...Kanaya, would you like to dance with me? You don't have to if you don't want to! It's fine, I wouldn't take offense to that! I just...thought it might be, you know, kinda...fun."
Conversationalist of the year, right here.
no subject
But did she want to dance with him? It wasn't that easy a question...sometimes she was pretty sure she hated him, even if she knew she shouldn't, and didn't want to. Because none of it was his fault...it wasn't anyone's fault, in all honesty.
She drew in a breath finally and nodded her head, holding out a hand. "Yes, John. I'd like that."

"Ever been to anything like this before?" Did trolls have this? Right on the heels of that thought is a mental slap as he realizes if they did, the 12 didn't get to experience it. Wow, could he be any bigger of a dumb ass.
no subject
"Although the scenery is quite lovely," she conceded after a moment, though whether she meant the people or the place was hard to say. "And I have seen many dress styles I will have to try."
no subject
He looks around at the people and tries to imagine it. He can't. Dave shrugs to cover up his thoughts. "Take your time with it, it's a lot to take in."
no subject
She nodded at that. "At least I seem to have all the time I need, here," she said quietly. As she spoke, her silver ninetails came up next to her and butted against Kanaya's hip with her head, and the former troll set her hand down on the pokemon's head, scratching her lightly behind the ears. The creature always seemed to know when she needed a 'hug.'
"I half expected you to be trying to do the music though, Dave," she added with a little grin.
no subject
Not that he ever was the sort to play for the mainstream or follow it. Dave looks up as his three Eevees join them. Nicki, Jeff, and Geromy - Leafeon, Glaceon, and his normal Eevee. They circle around his feet before settling as he studies and nods at Kanaya's Ninetails. "...man, I didn't know which special you'd gotten but whoever handed those out picked well for you."
no subject
She glanced at Dave's eevees, and gently scratched Shimmer behind the ears before the ninetails slipped out to go over and sniff curiously at the cluster of little creatures.
"Isn't she lovely? I knew the general idea of what she would evolve into, but when she actually did..." It had been a couple days, and she was still enthralled.
no subject
He gives Kanaya a bit of a smile, thinking back to Lady B's evolution. "Yeah. I don't think that ever stops being cool. Even when you're prepared for it the moment it happens is always kinda, I dunno. Magical? What word would you use for it?"
Sometimes he thinks of getting a Dusk Stone and letting Seppucrow finally evolve. It's been really tempting lately. "Speaking of evolutions though, how are the rest of your pokemon doing?"
no subject
"They're fine. Sunshine keeps diving into the pool, which is apparently strange for a grass pokemon but if she's happy..." Kanaya was never going to understand the little roselia, no matter how close they became.
"The others are doing well. My bulbasaur is growing rapidly, in theory I will be able to breed the two of them soon and see what happens."
She does take a somewhat clinic attitude towards that sort of thing...
no subject
"Anyway, strange is pretty much the only way to describe it." He had some other words to describe the evolving thing. All of it didn't quite fit. Eh, not like he cared that much.
no subject
She just nodded at that. "Everything about these creatures confuses me, honestly. It really does seem to follow the rules of a video game, rather than an actual environment."
no subject
Wait. "Wait. Did you teach her surf? Can that even work?" Technically it should, possibly. If Snorlax could, why not a plant.
