Who: John Egbert and Rose Lalonde (And introducing the new friend: Dave Strider)

Summary: Rose wakes up from her spontaneous coma (canon update) and John takes her on a highly romantic date in a Dragonair gondola. Be jelly.
Rating: PG for language and teenage butt-touching.

Since this wasn't the first time it had happened and, overall, it was hardly a rare occurrence in this world, John hadn't been too terribly worried when Rose passed out the previous Sunday. He knew she'd be back up again in a week or so, though that still hadn't prevented him from spending more time inside the room than out. After all, what if she woke up early?

He was pretty sure that was a thing that could happen, so better safe than sorry!

But there was one thing that he did have to leave the room for that he just couldn't avoid and that was work. But it was honestly a good thing he had, because if he had called out? He probably wouldn't have been able to concoct the date plan he was currently waiting to put into motion. It just needed one last thing, and that was a conscious Rose.

Okay, well technically a conscious John as well. Because at around 8 in the morning, he was just as unconscious as Rose, lying next to her in the bed with an arm over her and Michael J. the Zorua nestled between them. Rose's face is covered in a variety of marker doodles, the most prominent being a proclamation of "i love butts." scrawled across her forehead. Though there's also some kitty whiskers and more than likely at least one penis because apparently Dave wanted to play too. Seems the boys got a little bored while Rose was unconscious.

Aaaa lazy Sundays. Aren't they great?

She pauses, then smiles softly and pets his head. "Well then, how about you tickle his nose a little? Or smother his face with love? That should get his arm to move."

Yap! All too happy to oblige, Michael J. wriggles his way up to John's face and proceeds to cover it in wet, slobbery foxy kisses.

"Mnnghh!" Sure enough, as Rose predicted, this is enough to get John to move his hand. Because, dammit, five more minutes! Trying to sleep here!

She quickly pulls away, putting a pillow in her place for now. "Thank you, Michael. I'll be sure to get you a treat once I've returned." With that she kisses his forehead, kisses John's cheek and moves to the bathroom. First up? Shower.

Except wait, what is she seeing in the mirror? Seems someone enjoyed her week long coma. Examining the doodles on her face, she tries washing one of the whiskers off. Thank god, whoever it was (because she has no idea who it might possibly be) was kind enough to use washable marker.

"...'I love butts', huh?" With a smirk, she forgoes the shower for now. Though she does at least fetch the Zorua a treat before returning to the bed. Putting it down on the mattress for him, she crawls back onto the bed, sitting behind John this time.

And then she lays a hand softly on his lower back. "John."

Well no, he didn't enjoy it persay. I mean, he would totally rather have her conscious any day. But you know...she was there and unconscious and this was the second time this has happened and basically he couldn't resist. But yes, he was at least kind enough to go with washable instead of permanent. So kind, huh?

Michael J. takes the treat all too happily, tail wagging wildly as he eats it right there on the bed. Probably getting a whole bunch of crumbs on the sheets. Oops.

John, on the other hand, didn't actually wake up from the onslaught of licks, just hugged his pillow girlfriend-replacement and went right back to snoozing peacefully. Rose's hand at his lower back gets a small face scrunch and a sleepy grunt, but that's it.

"John, come on. Wake up." What if she were to pet his ear a little with her other hand? The one resting at the small of the handsome young man's back, however, begins wandering further south.

"Mmnoo..." He swats at he hand at his ear, burying his face in the pillow and attempting to scoot away from Rose a little. Five more minutes, come on. At least. Ten would also be acceptable.

Or like...you know a few more hours.

She scoots after him, finally letting her hand rest over his posterior. "John. Wake up, or I will make you wish you did."

Nope! Still out like a light. And attempting to swat that other hand away now. He's not conscious enough to realize what's going on but...hand. No touchy. Sleep good.

What if she...kind of gave it a little squeeze? Does that get his attention more than for a slap?

If not, perhaps the giggling that's accompanying it might.

It gets him to make a surprised sort of noise and start a little bit, but it's not enough to completely rouse him. Sorry, Rose.

By now though, Michael J. has finished his treat and is staring intently at John's face, tail swishing back and forth. Should he assist by pouncing Dad's face? Would that be acceptable? Or should he leave this to Mom?

Rose glances up at J, and then chuckles a little. If he wanted to help, he would be allowed to. She's just going to give that butt a few more rolling squeezes. Come on, John. With how against this kind of thing you probably are, how is it not waking you up?

That looks like the go ahead to him! Okay, just going to nibble on John's ear...which promptly gets him swatted away once more. Stirring, but still not waking up entirely, John lets go of his pillow-girlfriend, rolls over onto his stomach, and smashes his pillow over his head with an irritated whine. Just let him sleep!!!

But hey, at least this means he's getting closer to full consciousness.

It also puts his rear in a more advantageous position. Just going to move to straddle his back, facing his feet, and start kneading his derriere with both hands, unable to help the soft laughing at this point.

Oh my god Rose what the hell? Are you a cat suddenly? Of all the things you could have done to that ass, why would you knead it?

But at least between that and her sitting on his back, John finally wakes up. Pulling his pillow off of his head, he twists awkwardly to try and see just who the hell is touching his ass, completely and utterly ready to smack them upside the head with his pillow.

"Who the fu-- Rose!" Suffice it to say, this is enough to get him to abandon all thoughts of pillow-doofs. "You're awake!" He's so happy that he's completely forgotten about the butt touching thing.

At least for now.

"I am." She's also still touching your butt, that didn't stop being a thing. Though now she's just kind of squeezing it idly in both hands rather than full out kneading it. "Good morning."

"Good mor--oh my god stop, what are you doing?!"

That is...definitely his butt.And she is definitely touching it. While sitting on top of him. Yeah this is happening and now he's just trying to twist out from under her.

"I am expressing my, and do forgive me for using such plain language, 'love for butts'." And she grins back at him, doing her best to keep him in place with her legs kind of. Squeezing against his sides a little. "Especially yours."

"..."

Oh so that's how they're going to play this, huh? He stops struggling, more or less accepting his fate. Rose will have her vengeance for now.

"Well as long as mine is the most favored butt I guess that is really all that matters here. No but seriously, can you get off of me, please? I promise I used washable marker on your face. Just hop in the shower and it will come right off!"

He does't have his glasses on since he just woke up so...guess who can't tell that she washedone of those whiskers off?

"Really?" She stops her squeezing for a moment. "I tried to wash them off in the sink, but none of them came off. Are you sure it was washable?" She's doing a good job at making herself sound convincing, though she has to stare at his rear instead of his face, because her smile would give her away. Even if he can't see it very well.

"I am not only sure but absolutely positive, nice try, Rose! I bet you didn't actually try to wash it off at all."

"I did. I'm not lying. I tried very hard, because honestly do you think I want the network to know the dark secret that I," she pauses for a squeeze, "like," and another, "butts?" This last word is punctuated by the littlest of buttslaps. And then back to just resting her hands there.

It is at this moment, the door opens and Dave sticks his head in. Just before that slap which will haunt his nightmares for the rest of his life. "Hey John, how is she-" He trails off, his mouth forgetting to shut for a moment then clicking shut without a sound. There's nothing he can ever say to bridge this gap of awkward. Fact of the matter is, he really wants to just retreat right the hell now.

But life has taught Dave Strider that when he attempts to back pedal or flee, there will be something blocking his treat. Right now it's his own frozen brain that can't seem to let go of the doorknob.

"Rooooose!" It comes out as something halfway between a whine and snort of laughter. Sure, this is somewhat embarrassing, totally emasculating, and Rose is awful but it's also kind of funny. Besides, it's not like anybody is going to see this.

"Quit iii--"

The color drains from John's face as his stomach sinks to a new location somewhere in his right foot. He slowly turns his head to look back at the door. Please say he was just hearing things, please say he was just hearing things oh god he wasn't just hearing things Dave is standing in the doorway.

Hey, the frozen brain club has a new member holy shit this is pretty much the most awkward thing that has ever happened to John in his entire life. He's pretty sure there will never be a more mortifying moment than this one right here.

Rose, meanwhile, doesn't miss a single beat like the boys do. She just glances up at Dave, giving him a warm smile. "Good morning, Dave. I'm doing quite well, thank you. And yourself?" Her hands are remaining firmly in place, as is the rest of her, and she simply waits for a response.

Of all the sights, his sister straddling his best friend to get a handful of rump was not one he'd expected! Consciously, Dave knew they were dating and engaged but the behind closed doors part never entered his mind. He really wishes he was that blissfully ignorant again. He liked being the mushroom in a dark corner. He opens his mouth to say something and shuts it again. "What are you doing? Attempting to star in a rodeo?"

Oh god, he just ran with the first thought that went racing through his head. "Uh, I mean, do you want me to turn away and pretend this never happened? I can wait until later to see you. Say hey sup you're awake! Get snarked at for drawing on your face and oh my god will you stop touching his butt until I'm out of here again??"
