It was a nice night.

Probably the most simplistic description ever, but it was the best description Twilight could think of. Seated outside, mug of hot chocolate in her hands, watching the Illumise and Volbeat mating dance above them, that was the best description she could think of. Nice.

She'd come out here to just enjoy the night and think for a while, not ever having been one to go in for Hearts and Hooves Celebrations anyway, but as time passed and she watched the bug Pokemon, she found herself thinking that there was really only one thing that could make this moment better.

I also have all the different types except for Rock, Dark, and Ice, so that's not much of an argument. As for Apus, she was... a left behind Pokemon. From someone who went away from Johto. Whenever I see her, I'm reminded of... them.

[She's not even going to talk about that other idea.]

[She just looks up for a few moments, then sighs, deciding to just give her the answer. Not like she hasn't mostly dealt with the pain anyway.]

It was the Princess, Rainbow. It was Celestia.

(She had mentioned on a few occasions the Princess was here for a short time...Twilight better be prepared for another hug, then. And she's not pulling back this time.)

...Sorry, Twilight. Guess I shouldn't have asked, huh?

It's fine... I cried most of my sadness out on Fluttershy's shoulder when she left, anyway. And it's not like you weren't inevitably going to ask anyway. As soon as you got interested in Apus, you'd have asked where I found her.

Haha, Fluttershy's a great support in that way. But, yeah -it would've came up.

...Speaking of Fluttershy, she didn't mention exactly what happened right? No details or anything?

Well, no, just that you'd told her your feelings and she'd told you why she couldn't return them... and that she felt awful for that, by the way. Why?

Hahaha~! I didn't tell her my feelings, not like smart ponies like you would. You heard me earlier when I said that's not my style!

... Wait a minute, so what exactly did you do then?

(Rainbow responded by doing exactly what she did with Fluttershy: closing her eyes, leaning forward and pressing her lips against Twilight's.)

WHAT THE HAY? Twilight's brilliant mind just kind of... collapses upon feeling Rainbow's lips against hers, and her eyes bulge. She doesn't even push Rainbow away, she's too surprised for that, she just stands there dumbly.]

(Rainbow's kinda surprised too, but doesn't pull back at all. She simply holds onto Twilight gently while maintaining the kiss that's gone well past 10 seconds.)

[Okay her mind is back now, jerking away and also pushing Rainbow away.]

Rainbow, what the hay? You- you could have just told me "I kissed her"! I didn't need a demonstration!

(Rainbow blinks repeatedly for a second or two before crossing her arms.)

Yeah, saying that is one thing. Showing you is way different!

[Because she's kind of surprised Shy didn't faint if that's the case.]

(She first responds with a 'Whatever!' expression before shaking her head.)

Of course not! I barely even kissed her before she pulled away. I got like 1-3 seconds out of it.

Well, you can't really blame her. She must have been utterly shocked.

[She just... raises a hand up to her forehead. She has a feeling it's going to stay there a while.}

So that's how it happened. You kissed her and she rejected you, do I have that right?

(She sighs while raising a hand to her face, blinking a few more times as she notices her heart's beating slightly fast.)

Uh, I kissed you and it's your choice. You said you weren't looking for romance, but things change...how was it? Did you like it?

[Okay, that question confuses her. She just... stares at Rainbow as though she'd just said her shoe tastes good.]

Like it? You just kissed me out of nowhere just to demonstrate what you did to Flutter... Shy...

[She stops there, and just stands there stupefied for a moment. Oh no. No no no she cannot be serious.]

Rainbow, have you been... drinking or something? Because you clearly aren't thinking straight right now if you're asking what I think you are.

(Rainbow eyes Twilight in turn with a semi-serious look on her face.)

Of course not! I'm just asking what you thought of it, and you say I went drinking?!

(And that's when her eyes narrow in near-disbelief once her brain catches on. Not that she wouldn't consider it, but...with Twilight?)

...If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, we're totally different!

Well what were you asking me then? Or rather, what was the point of asking me that question? It came out of nowhere and was completely awkward, even if I had wanted to kiss you I probably wouldn't have liked it!

[She shakes her head in disbelief and no small amount of irritation.]

Rainbow, just what are you getting at here? What is the point of this conversation? I feel like we're barely even talking about the same thing at this point.

Aghhhh, I just wanted to know what you thought about the kiss! And now I know...even if it didn't make things totally awkward you don't like it. Or you just don't like it coming from me.

(Rainbow turns away, an irritated frown mixed with a pout shown on her face.)

...I won't bring this up with the others. We can just forget it ever happened.

Rainbow, I told you. I don't think about romance, and I'm perfectly fine being that way. Why would one awkward kiss change that?
