breeder's con; (OPEN)

WHO: BREEDERS and other interested parties
WHERE: Goldenrod City, near the Breeding Centre
WHEN: February 15~16
SUMMARY: Breeder's Con!! Come sell eggs, goods, breed with strange pokemon you never met before, talk about shinies or egg moves, and all that jazz! Just don't mind that the decorations look like they belong at a Valentine's Day party
RATING: PG (will edit if it amps up more)
LOG:

[ When it came to parties with little purpose such as holidays, Saber found herself often struggling with creativity. Organizing a makeshift "bazaar" however was a thing a king can do and so she did. Not that she was experienced in the matters of the market, but from the stance she took as royalty during her reign, prosperity flourished within Britain so that was reason enough to feel justified in what she was doing. While the Breeding Centre wasn't nearly large enough to host a grand event, there was still enough space with the careful arrangement of tables and chairs to accommodate a larger population than the building was used to. Most of the loose Pokemon were placed away (even the murderous Scyther) and the place was decorated in various shades of red and pink.

Nero was going to love that, wasn't she? Saber thought about adding a touch of blue, but it didn't really seem to fit the theme.

For those who may be a bit more antisocial or have things they wish to trade or sale that were too large to keep indoors, there were a few tables set up in the yard under makeshift coverings from tarp. Not the most attractive job, but Saber isn't going to force people who might be wary of large crowds. Indoors, there's plenty of warm refreshments and a hot chocolate bar. All of the unoccupied rooms of the Breeding Centre have little signs hanging from the door knob just in case anyone wants to give their mons a bit of privacy too. How considerate! ]

Catch all log for the Breeder's Con. Feel free to make your own threads, mingle or otherwise. Just state in the subject if they're open or closed for the convenience of others. Feel free to gossip about the rampage or even the garden party that took place the day before. Thanks♥

[ Aradia gives him a perfectly cheery grin once she notices him, which should negate any worries about the attacks the other day. She actually managed to be nowhere near the goings-on, which was...well, probably lucky. ]

Kayneth! You can call me Aradia, you know - and I am, thank you! I know there was a to-do the other day, but I...well, I was out of town, training. [ Awkward shrug. She knows a few people who were in the mix-up, and uh. Whoops? ]

Are you okay? I mean, were you here when...?
enjoymyatelier: no seriously what are you doing (uhhhhhhhh....)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-02-21 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's... a bit overly familiar, though, isn't it?

[...granted, he does talk to her pretty frequently

but being on first-name basis with teenage plebes...]

I suspected as much, but it was worth asking. I happened to be caught in the middle of it, but it wasn't too difficult to deal with.

[...whether he is being honest or just trying to save face is to be determined...]

Is it? [ She's...never been that worried about formalities, although Equius also calls her "Miss" sometimes.

It must be a thing that highbloods do sometimes. ]
Well, I won't ask you to call me by my name if it makes you uncomfortable! I just figured that we talk often enough it's silly to use formalities.

And I'm glad you're okay! One of my friends has their arm in a sling from that. [ He...looks like he's in one piece, so. ]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

I suppose that's true on some level, but I can't help but find it somewhat strange.

[being emotionally distant, though!!!]

That's unfortunate, though not particularly surprising. While they didn't seem to have the best grasp of strategy, they were fairly strong.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (- this is stupid. :|)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-03-05 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it was probably that guy again. [ That's...actually said with a fair amount of distaste. ]

Since Bowser was the one who stole John and Rose's pokemon, I presume he was therefore behind the attack utilizing them. Besides, meaningless chaos seems to be his style.
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-03-08 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That... certainly wouldn't surprise me. Granted, there are other members of Team Rocket that may be responsible, given some things I've experienced, but given how that person is...
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (Default)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-03-30 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
He's probably a member of that team, then?
enjoymyatelier: zach. they're here. (migrane's a comin.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-04-05 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, it would be more surprising to me if he wasn't. Though there's always the possibility that he's acting independently... from what I've seen, he doesn't seem like the sort who would be particularly good at taking orders. Admittedly, I'm not deeply familiar with him, so I'm not sure if he would take the opportunity to use their resources at the expense of having to answer to someone or if he'd be far too prideful to do something like that.
timelymaid: art credit unknown, please contact (- say what?)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-04-14 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah...If those members are chosen like we are, though, I don't think taking orders would really be a requirement for a member, you know?

I mean, chosen at random and just...pulled here. Somehow.
enjoymyatelier: i am just done with this shit (ugh whatever)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-04-15 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose that's true, but one would think that there would be ways to leave... then again, perhaps they're more trouble than they're worth.

Anyway, whether or not he's in the organization barely changes anything, given how obvious he is. I really doubt law enforcement would do anything about it either way.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (Default)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-04-16 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps...although if you start off waking up here in a weird organization, it may be harder to get out than one would think!

The law enforcement here seems nice, but sort of, hm. Ineffectual?
enjoymyatelier: i am just done with this shit (ugh whatever)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-04-17 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose that's true, and I have to say that I'm quite glad nothing like that happened to me. All the same, I would hope that there is; I don't believe I've seen anyone leave and return in a different role from their previous one, but I'd rather that didn't happen to me.

Precisely-and really, law enforcement should probably prioritize effectiveness over being nice.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (+ 8D.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-04-19 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm...I can't say I've seen it happen, either! But I also haven't kept close tabs on the phenomenon. Perhaps I should start!

Well, this world seems to prioritize things much differently from...any other world, haha.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-04-24 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, who knows. It may reveal something useful.

...well, yes, that's true, and at the very least, incompetent police forces actually exist in worlds that aren't this one. It's not unexpected so much as it is frustrating.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (Default)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-04-25 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It's too bad none of us seem able to join the law enforcement agency on a professional basis. Perhaps we could effect change that way.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-04-28 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that truly is a shame. Granted, there do seem to be vigilante efforts to keep them in check, but it's doubtful that they're as well equipped to deal with an entire organization as an actual law enforcement organization.
timelymaid: art by <user name=spkolala site=tumblr.com> (= well!)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-05-02 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah...I'd heard about that, actually. Some sort of vigilante effort. It's better than nothing, I suppose, but I don't know how well it works.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-05-07 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I had briefly considered joining it, actually, but... that sort of thing doesn't exactly suit me.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (Default)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-05-31 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only heard of it, but, well...I don't think it's the most effective means of doing something, I suppose.
enjoymyatelier: just imagine the crossed arms and this is von karma as balls (are you cross examining a parrot)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-01 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I feel the same way. Something more centralized might be, of course, but that would be difficult to organize in this kind of situation.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (+ archaeology! ready to dig.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-02 11:08 am (UTC)(link)
It might be, but I think it would be well worth the effort! Though I've not really got experience in organizing that sort of thing with other people being aware of it.

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-04 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
I have experience with organizations that aren't known to the general public, but they've been in place for centuries and I have no experience with getting them off the ground. Furthermore... there's no guarantee of any kind of stable leadership, given that anyone here can be returned to their own world without any sort of warning.
timelymaid: art by <user name=strovi site=tumblr.com> (+ wink. yeah it's cool.)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-07 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
...That's true enough. But I think that stability is occasionally overrated! Or at least not doing something because you might return home seems a little pointless to me.
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2013-06-11 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, it's not something I'd be deterred by, but it's definitely something that needs to be taken into account in this scenario. I wouldn't be surprised if it's part of the reason the vigilante groups that pop up aren't as effective as they could be-Team Rocket, by all accounts I've heard, existed in this world before people from other worlds arrived, so they probably have some sort of stable native leadership in place. It's something of a natural advantage.
timelymaid: art by <user name=kaymurph site=tumblr.com> (+ oh my!)

[personal profile] timelymaid 2013-06-15 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
They have the natives on their side, basically. Whereas the non-Rocket affiliated have to deal with the gym leaders and the like, who don't seem to entirely trust us...?

If that's the case, it'd probably be best to go into making a group that has some sort of structure that expects any and all of the members to be gone at the drop of a hat. Flexible organization not resting on one person who may not always be there.
