It's here! It's here! Clair's first-ever (and, Lance hopes, last-ever) Pokemon Prom is here, coming to you straight from scenic Tohjo Falls! You've packed your bags, you've hitched your rides, and now you're taking your first steps in to a super swank palatial PokeManor where, prior to now, only the pseudo-legendary best of the best had ever tread. Gosh, that must make you pretty special, huh? (Well, you and everyone else in the massive crowd that arrived along with you, that is.) Of course, you're all destined for greatness. But at the moment, your more immediate destiny is forty-eight hours of fun.

☆ YOU ARE HERE ☆




KEY:

• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think garden party!
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since this is a house party and not a hotel party, but this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who would prefer to class it up a little more than just your standard garden party. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.
• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — a sculpture of Lugia, a painting of the Ecruteak City skyline before the Brass Tower burned down, some stone etchings of what might be Fossil Pokemon, and so on. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.
• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.
• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. Of particular note is a glass case with a broken Ultra Ball mounted inside; the brass plaque attached claims it's the ball Lorelei was using when she almost caught Articuno. On a lighter note, there are also pictures of the Elite Four themselves — your standard Official Portraits™, sure, but also some framed candids of them in various configurations hanging out with their Pokemon and engaged in various activities around the house (Agatha making waffles, Lance and Bruno clowning around in the pool, stuff like that).

[Having escaped any and all people who have been after her to get her to dance, Jane all but hides out by the refreshment table. Dressed in something simple, but bright, she balanced a plate in her hand while munching quietly on some crackers. Overall, the party was nice and it did feel nice to dress up like this, but it just isn't.... her thing. Jane feels all sorts of out of place still, even if she blends in.

It doesn't help that her glasses got confiscated and a pretty matching bird-like mask planted on her face. Sure, it pulled the outfit together and made her feel like she was in disguise, but she was sorely missing her mustaches.]

[Protip, Jane: when trying to hide from your Poppop/ectoson, anywhere that there is food is a terrible idea. Because guess who is standing a few feet away, scoping out the snacks and reaching for a plate?]

[And though the masks may be throwing him off a little, you're one of the people he can recognize with little difficulty. It would take a disguise of the highest cleverness attribute to throw dear ol' Poppop off your trail.]

Ah! Jane! [He abandons his quest for food, instead making a beeline straight for Jane. He can eat later.] I was wondering where you had disappeared to! How's it going?

[Blinking on hearing her name and squinting through the mask, Jane gave John a quiet little smile.] Hey John, sorry to sneak off, hoo hoo. It's going well enough, I suppose!

[Avoiding the ballroom? Oh yes she is, because she doesn't want to accidentally encounter anyone she isn't really prepared for, which is harder without her glasses.]

Psshhh, no need to apologize! It's a free country, you can go wherever you like! I was just hoping to get a dance out of you before the night is over. That's all.

[Aww, come on Janey. Proms are supposed to be fun.]

[ he hasn't spoken to her in a while and it's pretty hard to recognise her in the mask and dress. but Yoonjae is staring because gee, who is this bird lady? just staring...without blinking...and then she starts to hiss.

Joonhee just notices that she's doing it again. ]

Yah, Yoonjae! Stop that... [ he smiles sheepishly at the (not really) stranger. ]

Sorry, she does that sometimes.

[The hissing makes Jane start briefly, before laughing gently and shaking her head.] Oh, it's alright! I probably look nothing like what she's ever seen before.

[It takes her a moment, but with some squinting, Jane gets enough of a look of his face to smile a bit brighter, realizing she knows him.] Joonhee? Oh gosh, I wish I had my glasses on. From what I can see at least, you look very nice tonight!

[ he recognises her voice! ] Miss Jane? I couldn't tell it was you at all!

[ maybe Yoonjae likes the mask, she keeps making weird gurgling noises at Jane. Joonhee laughs a bit at that and kind of holds a hand up to...cover his forehead? he's not used having it showing! ]

Ah...thank you but I think Miss Jane is the one that looks really good tonight. [ not that she's not usually pretty! she just looks all glammed up tonight. ]

[Sheepishly smiling, she knows that voice well enough, even if she can only see so well from a distance.] A-ah, well, I'm just.. still taking a break, you could say?

[Mayu was trying to get away from all the commotion in the heavily populated areas by retreating to the refreshment table. At least there she was able to get something to eat.]

[As she approached the table, she saw a familiar face. She had to double check to make sure if she's got the right person to prevent any confusion.]

[Turning on hearing her name, Jane squinted a bit to try and see the person talking to her.] Yes? [Curse her need for glasses.]

[If Mayu's memory recalled correctly, she remembered the girl was wearing glasses when she's spoken to her so she walked a little closer so she could have a better look at her.]

I don't know if you remember but I believe we've met before. [She lifts her mask up so her face is more clear.]

[Why, yes, that sure is Dirk approaching. It's pretty obvious it's him. He's opted to go without a mask, and he's still wearing his sunglasses, so he's visible even to someone who's had their glasses stolen the way Jane has.

The orange accents probably help too.]

Long time no see. You look great.

[It's nice to be able to see a familiar face, shades and all, despite her blurry vision. Setting her plate down to smile and move in and hug him, Jane takes a moment to look him over, then reach and fix his tie a little.]

Yeah, long time no see yourself! You're the one who looks great, silly. Too bad none of the masks would work so well with your sunglasses on, hoo hoo!

[It's been a while. Long enough, apparently, that Dirk has no hesitation in giving her a quick hug back before she goes to fix his tie.]

I could've made one, if I wanted to. Or gone without the shades. No one would've recognized me then.

In all seriousness, though, he approaches Jane somewhat shyly and gives her a smile.]

You look prettier than a magnolia in May, Jane! Have you been enjoying the prom?

[She didn't see him coming, blurry vision and all; at least, she didn't realize it was Jake approaching. Jumping a little and juggling the paper plate in one hand and her snack in the other, Jane smiles nervously. They haven't spoke, let alone seen each other since he made his decision, and the compliment just didn't help her get over the damn English charm.]

Goodness, what a hefty compliment. Thank you Jake, I'm uh.. it's alright, the party is really nice. A little crowded, but everyone seems to be having fun.

[She doesn't even need to squint to know he looks dashing as always, and to at least make use of her idle hands after setting the plate down, Jane reaches to gently straighten his tie.]

I am! I mean, it's certainly more crowded than I expected....

[Jake's almost been wilting under all the shyness.]

But I'm glad you and everyone else are here! I've missed you.

[ Escaped? As if Valeria would ever allow such a thing. No, she's taken care to keep tabs on her daughter dearest Jane throughout this affair and while she has lost her a time or two upon being uprooted herself, it's fairly easy to find her again if only because the young woman is sticking to the same general area where Valeria herself has put roots down. That? That just won't do, so she'll be moving across the floor to claim a place at Jane's side, taking care not to allow her dress to be caught under anyone's feet. Silver jewelry accented by orange sapphires, long gloves, and an off-colored Butterfree-styled mask complete her ensemble ad she moves fluidly, cutting through the crowd as cleanly as a knife through butter, her Riolu following quickly with a confused expression upon his face. ]

[ Really, she can tell if only because that plate could easily serve as a shield, deterring dance requests if not providing an out. Oh, Janie. ]

A young lady as lovely as yourself really should be on the dance floor, you know.

[Jane can't help giving Valeria a sheepish smile, her eyes only lifting from the plate to shake her head at the comment of dancing.]

Oh no, I am quite good right here! You look pretty smashing yourself though, have you needed to beat boys away with your Pokemon's help?

[ It's both an answer to Jane's first statement and the question she's posing. She waves a hand dismissively, then pauses. ]

Really? I'd have thought you'd be tearing up the dance floor with Dave and John. I'd thought for sure they'd have swept you out by now. [ Subtlety, she's trying at it. ]

[...yeah, Kayneth has seen that look of "not exactly in my element" before. ...usually on people who tend to get eaten alive in the Mages' Association, but that's neither here nor there...

Well... perhaps it is. It's not his responsibility, but Jane was pleasant, if kind of quaint, and it's not like she could compete with him in any fashion.

...that, and he tended to be more altruistic when there was alcohol in his system, so... even if she isn't the heiress to a Proper Mage Family, he really can't help but assume these heir things go pretty similarly regardless of what sort of fancy thing you're the heir to, and... she'll... probably be easier to coach than Eridan was the last time he was here, before Kayneth stopped having any idea of what to do with him upon learning he effectively committed genocide.

That was awkward.

She had to laugh, even if it was with a touch of nerves. It's silly to be nervous, but then again she still lacks all sorts of ability to see, plus she's still dealing with emotional baggage that meeting said source did nothing to alleviate.... yeah. Still, this was a voice she recognized for how distinct he was, so she gave a little curtsy.

"How are you enjoying all this, Lord Kayneth?"

well, he'd be fine with either!!

"Perfectly understandable, if you're not used to this kind of thing," said Kayneth with a casual shrug. "Though, they're certainly worth getting used to. If nothing else, it's far easier to avoid the main areas of activity at this party than many others I've been to..."

He pauses, then grimaces in annoyance.

"...though the host seems rather fond of forcing you back to the main areas if you spend too much time in, say, the library. I'd be enjoying this affair far more if not for that."
