happy birthday from all of us to you
Who: All the Dangans + Parker!
Where: Violet City
When: 8/31, evening
Summary: It's Ishimaru's birthday and his classmates are throwing him a surprise party. This can't end badly.
Rating: PG-13 for language. I'll update this if there are any changes!
Log:
Never again. Mondo is never planning a party this big ever again. Of course the original plan didn't take into account the arrival of five classmates, so originally this would have been easy enough to handle. Now, though? He'd practically run himself ragged making sure that everyone was here and everything was ready.
The hotel was kind enough to lend them the Conference Room for the occasion, and it was quite a large room that should easily fit all of the Hope's Peak classmates and Alice. All the food is spread out on a table by the wall (it's entirely vegetarian, since that's what Ishimaru likes) and the tables are situated nearby so that the guests can actually sit and eat. There's plenty of open space in case anyone wants to dance to the music that's been set up (though Mondo doubts Ishimaru will set foot on the dance floor, it's mostly to entertain the other guests). The gifts are all piled in the back corner and there's even a large TV for the guests to watch. All in all, it seems like the perfect place to hold a party.
All that's left is for Fujisaki to bring Ishimaru to the location, so Mondo fires off a quick text to his friend, letting Fujisaki know that everyone's ready and in position. This is gonna be awesome.

Pre-Gifts and Cake | Wallflowering Near A Table
Still, that annoying feeling of forced aloneness (she's not calling it "being lonely", she refuses to call it that) has been lingering, and she's fairly certain it will only get worse if she misses this event, and either way she's at least competent enough to realize that if she's already shot herself in the foot, deciding to take up tap dance lessons out of spite is just kind of a really dumb idea.
So she's here. Lingering near the wall, yes. Observing the crowds (and pointedly refusing to look in the general direction of wherever Mondo is), sure. Listening to music and maybe even occasionally sneaking a bite to eat? Absolutely.
But this isn't her show, and she feels better when she's out of sight. So she'll just be over here, holding up this wall — content to amuse herself with her thoughts and ponderings as company, and that's just fine with her.
Really.]

Chihiro wavers approaching for just a few moments (because Kirigiri looks like she might be immersed in her thoughts and he'd hate to interrupt?!) but eventually the urge to say hello and talk wins out and he heads on over. His secret apparently isn't a secret at all today (or anymore really), as he's ditched his usual skirt for pants.
When he's close enough, he waves a hand lightly in greeting.] Hello, Kirigiri-san. Have you had any of the cake yet?

In time though, he starts to notice that he's not the only one not lingering with the crowd. Though Kirigiri's probably already noticed him ages ago, this would actually be the first time he's properly looked at her face-to-face since the trial. He's...unsure what to do. Go over and say hello? Or ignore her completely? He's not too sure if he even wants to talk to her or, god forbid, she discerns something about him based on his general, tired countenance.
So here he is at the opposite wall, just...chilling and trying to pointedly stay out of everyone's way.]

Just the same, he does want her here; he knows that he should probably acknowledge her directly if he wants to express that much. He isn't exactly sure how, and he's become aware over his time here that he's not the best at just improvising these things, but after some hesitation he manages to get up and approach her anyway.]

totally laying claim to one of those tables for the time being
1. about to start crying,
2. about to start screaming,
3. about to start doing some sort of unholy combination of both,
4. not sure which of the previous three options he prefers but he's certainly going to do something.
In the end, option 1 wins out (thankfully not accompanied by screaming but definitely warranting more tissues than anyone likely has on them in one go), and it's going to take him a while to get over the tears and the general vibrating he's doing and the...uh, more tears, but at least it's a good reaction. Mostly. Kind of stressed, but mostly good. Although just as a warning, anyone in the immediate vicinity is probably going to get hugged.
Yes, even if it's you, Togami-kun, so back up if you care about your suit. However, once he's calmed down some he'll...mostly be sitting at one of those tables, managing to be both at least okay with being there and weirdly distant about actually being there in the same go; he'll go talk to people properly after a while but for the time being he's pretty content to not be in the middle of any sort of crowd. On the plus side, though, this does open him up for private conversations for the time being; come get your free-time events, guys, should you want them.]

Either way, he drifts his way on over to Ishimaru a little while after the initial surprise (and after he's had a chance to sneak his gift onto the gift table-- enjoy that girafarig when it hatches, Ishimaru
don't let it bite you). He's even wearing slacks for the occasion! It's all of his classmates (and Parker) after all, there's no need to hide.]Ishimaru-kun?

Having nipped out to the bathroom to clean himself up a little because geez Ishimaru gross sobbing much, he returns to the ballroom tears and snot-free. Everyone else seems to have gotten into the swing of the party, so hopefully no one will notice if he walks over to where Ishimaru is with a hastily-wrapped box in his hands. If he can get this over with fast enough then he can rest his conscience, grab some food and then leave.]

CAKE
Who thought it was a good idea to let the guy with anger issues wield the large knife anyway??There are three cakes: a white cake with vanilla icing, a yellow cake with chocolate icing, and a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. The cakes actually look pretty good despite the fact that Mondo sucks at icing. He's perfectly content to serve cake to anyone who wants it, though if you just want to chat he's up for that as well!]
no subject
Oowada-kun, [brightly, in greeting. He came over for a chat!! Though he is eyeing the cakes inadvertently in admiration.] It looks really good in here... [The set up, and how he'd managed to get the conference room!] It all worked out, didn't it?

Her trainer is subtly watching, of course. Victoria wouldn't dare do anything without Celes' permission...or orders. Her trainer knows she wants some cake, so she's decided to take advantage of the situation.
It's a test. Let's see what your results will be, Oowada-kun.]

[Note: Parker is probably going to need a chocolate intervention before this day is out, given that trusting her alone with chocolate is like sending a crack addict to a cocaine festival. Still, she is bright and perky and has her plate and fork all ready to go!]
Hey, those look really good.

Taking that third table, like a boss
After his initial conversation with Ishimaru, he's not entirely sure he wants to wish the boy happy birthday, or whether it would even be appreciated.
He did miraculously manage to spare about P650 to get Ishimaru a book of Pokemon folk tales, which is wrapped in plain parcel paper and unmarked on the pile of gifts, ashamed as he is of the fact that he, Togami Byakuya, couldn't afford better.]no subject
Um-- Hello, Togami-kun. [Courteously! Chihiro's always on that cusp of uncertainty when he talks with Togami, but given their conversation when he'd arrived wasn't too bad, he's less nervous than he'd be back at the school.
So here the programmer in question is-- dressed up (or is it down?) in slacks for the party. He moves to stand with his back to the wall by him, leaving a polite distance, hands folding behind himself.]

As awkward as interacting with Togami directly would be - possibly for both parties involved - in perspective it might not be quite so bad; given that there's Kirigiri, the Hero of Drywall, on one side of the room and Celes...well, being Celes on the other...
And really, Ishimaru had planned to go into politics one day; as little as he hates being disingenuous, making nice with the stupidly rich people that you really kind of dislike is one of those things that goes with the territory. And on some level, he can appreciate that Togami even bothered to be here, as opposed to deciding that the whole thing is beneath him...he doesn't think that it's through any sort of actual sense of friendship, but it's better than nothing. Right?]
...Togami-kun.
[He's not going to join him at the table, and he's keeping a reasonable distance as opposed to getting all up in Togami's personal space; just the same, an attempt is being made.]

SCREW VEGETARIANISM | Near The Food Table
So if it just so happens that a couple of super-size pizzas from the local Pizza Paras-dise franchise (Meat Lover's, Zesty Buffalo Chicken, and their signature Cheeseburger In Paras-dise varieties), well.
HOWEVER DID THOSE GET THERE.
It certainly wasn't Alice-san, oh no.
She's definitely not on her third slice of that Zesty Buffalo Chicken right now, either.]

Celes, that's creepy...... | Side of the room
As it stands, however, she isn't going out of her way to socialise with any of them, instead choosing to stand near the side of the room, nibbling on one of the vegetable-infused snacks that have been prepared (hopefully not by Oowada, if the cakes are anything to go by). She hasn't eaten properly in a while - not since arriving - so the food is appreciated. It's also free, which is, sadly enough, even more appreciated. Her current financial situation isn't one that she likes to dwell on for very long, but she's not so deluded that she'd ignore free, healthy food (well, hopefully healthy...) when it was offered to her.
At her feet, Victoria the Gothita is also nibbling on a snack, taking care not to spill any of it on her trainer's shoes. Her starter has become a constant companion for Celes, and she honestly quite enjoys having her around - Vee-chan has a tendency to perform tasks that Celes is yet to ask for...as if she'd read her mind. The thought should bother her, she knew, but it just made her smile. If Victoria was going to spend her time tapping into her mind, she would hopefully enjoy what she found in there.
In regards to the...occasion, Celes hasn't gotten Ishimaru anything too expensive; she'd had no idea it was his birthday, after all. But she had found something she felt was quite appropriate.
A single red rose, sitting neatly on top of the other gifts. She hadn't bothered to attach a card - he would know whom it was from.
Smiling slightly, Celes finished eating and daintly wiped her hands on a napkin, passing it down to Victoria, who promptly tossed it into a nearby bin. As her Pokemon trotted off, Celes neatly folded her arms and continued to observe.
She'll speak if spoken to, but seems content to endure the proceedings as a spectator, rather than a participant. Victoria, standing loyally near her feet, does the same, her stare wide and unblinking.]

and not really, but no one's cleared that up with Leon just yet!!, all the rest of them were really into being wall-flowers and staring.Leon sits at one of the tables, poking his cake with a fork. It had looked appetizing at the start but after a few bites he had looked up and accidentally met Celes-san's blank but intense gaze. Recalling their conversation over the Gear is enough for him to lose his appetite for the time being. He's discontent to let her get away with taunting him, but he's honestly too tired to start an argument and especially not on Ishimaru's birthday.
So there's no confrontation. Just a lot of poking and trying his best to ignore her lazer gaze.]

at the TV area!
Even though he and Leon got in town a few days ago, this has been his first real chance to relax. And this is how he relaxes, apparently. After being stuck in Hope's Peak for ages and then being transported to the sticks of Pokeland, TV is practically a luxury at this point, and he's going to take advantage of it.
