HOENNWEEN: BOSS BATTLE LOG
Who: Hoennween Plot Participants!
Where: Tohjo Falls!
When: Thursday, October 30th
Summary: You've taken the Elite Four's estate and reaped the (stolen? borrowed? requisitioned) benefits waiting for you inside it. But come morning, an earthquake signals the arrival of two incredibly belligerent Legendaries and the Team Bosses who've summoned them.
Rating: PG-13 in general; please mark threads that go higher accordingly!
Log:

YOU ARE HERE. YOU'RE FIGHTING THESE GUYS.
THIS IS STILL YOUR BACKGROUND MUSIC, AND THIS IS STARTING TO LOOK LIKE AN EPISODE OF JACKASS.
KEY:
• GRAY areas in the north are a range of mountains that form a natural barrier around part of the Tohjo plain where the Elite Four's resort is located. This is where you will find and battle Maxie, his Team Magma Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Groudon, all right.
• GREEN areas in the southeast and southwest are densely-packed forested areas interspersed by lakes and rivers that seem to be feeding into the main waterway into the area. It is both difficult and dangerous to venture into the woodlands proper, but this seems to be where a lot of the Team Aqua Grunts are stationed now.
• The BLUE area in the south is the massive lake that feeds the eponymous falls that give Tohjo its name. This is where you will find and battle Archie, his Team Aqua Grunts, and also obviously that sure is Primal Kyogre, all right.
• PINK diamonds in the east and west are the sites of massive formations of Mysterious Plot Crystals™ jutting up from beneath the surface; the Grunts will not be found around these today, so if your character is looking for a safe zone well away from the crossfire, they will want to hole up near these.
• The BROWN rectangle dead-center in the map is...the Elite Four's resort. It's even more unfortunately-located today than it was yesterday. However, people willing to risk the crossfire between the Legendaries and get into the house will have access to all of the battle and healing items discussed up here!
A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:
• As per Arceus's summon, there will be Gen VI Pokemon joining the battle on their own! You may NPC these Pokemon, within reasonable limits; you may not capture them in Pokeballs, and they are still wild so they will not take commands from characters the way a captured Pokemon would from its trainer. However, they do recognize that the portaled-in humans are fighting on roughly the same side as they are, so they won't attack player characters and might occasionally come to their aid if need be — you're free to NPC them as you like for purposes such as this.
• The aforementioned Gen VI Pokemon can be any Pokemon that swarmed during September, plus any of their evolved forms. They've had several weeks in the wild to get buff and settle in; now you can see what they've got to show for it!
• You may NPC the Team Aqua and Team Magma Grunts as you see fit; either one can reasonably be found anywhere on the map, though they're avoiding the crystals and keeping close to their bosses — that means Team Magma will be more highly-concentrated in the northern areas of the map, and Team Aqua will be staying to the south.
• Due to the nature of the battlefield and the fact that the team leaders are going to be defending their Legendary of choice, if you choose to fight the bosses, please select whether you are going after Archie or Maxie on this particular log - you may go after one but not both.
• However, there is no restriction on how many Aqua and Magma Grunts you may fight!
• You may forego Pokemon battling entirely and simply beat up the Grunts with physical violence yourself. If you KO a Grunt, they will white out and be warped to the nearest Pokemon Center back down in the regions proper, where they will be arrested by an officer of the Kangaskhan Police.
• FOR CHARACTERS INTENDING TO USE HONEDGES LIKE WEAPONS: due to the high volume of questions we have received on this topic (it's a popular inquiry!), we want to clarify for this Pokemon in particular —
If you choose to use a Honedge as though it were a traditional sword, the most that the Honedges will allow might be slapping the grunts with the flat side of the blade. They are still opposed to attacking/killing humans, opponents or not, and if you try to stab an opponent with them, you're going to get a really obstinate ghost sword going incorporeal and ineffectively going through them. There's also the fact that you're grabbing them by the head and swinging them around — they won't like that very much.
PLEASE NOTE: if you intend to use a Honedge in this manner anyway, we may ask that you experience light IC consequences for it later in the plot! We're not barring you from getting your sword skills on with your Honedges; we're simply pointing out that there may be natural outcomes that follow from those choices.
• UPDATE: if you would like to interrogate the grunts, check here for information you can learn from them!
~
☆ THE NUMBER TO MEET OR BEAT IS 37 PARTICIPANTS ☆.
REMEMBER: IF YOUR CHARACTER DOES NOT POST TO THE BOSS BATTLE LOG AT LEAST ONCE
(AS A TOP-LEVEL COMMENT OR IN RESPONSE TO SOMEONE ELSE'S TOP-LEVEL COMMENT)
BEFORE 9:00 PM EST on OCTOBER 30, THEY WILL NOT COUNT TOWARD THE 37-PARTICIPANT GOAL!

Mightyena gets zapped, but is able to recover, that's not the issue here. The problem is that approaching that thing is dangerous and all his ranged attackers are susceptible to Electric attacks. So swapping out's not really an option here. Instead all he can really do is just keep hitting it with Mightyena and hope he takes it out first.]
Sucker Punch!
[Here's hoping Jimmy was planning to use some sort of attack this round. If not, he just wasted his turn, which would be pretty embarrassing.]
no subject
Discharge!
[Another surge of electricity bursts from the Manectric, this time a lot less centered like Thunder was. This sortof bursts out in all directions, since he can't quite see where his opponent is coming from.
He starts kicking his legs again, trying to get himself back up onto his feet with a pained grunt, the Sucker Punch having struck him a solid hit.]
no subject
-Reverted a legendary to its primal form and sent it to destroy his enemies.
-Had a battle that involved Sharpedo divebombing a Charizard out of the sky.
-Had a trainer attempt to brush his Mightyena's teeth with Signal Beam
And now we have this bizarre game of trying to tackle what is essentially an electrical turtle at the moment. That's a strong contender for the craziest thing that's happened today.]
Mightyena-
[Actually wait, he's going to jump out of the way because that Discharge is going everywhere.]
Jump back in there and use Crunch!
[Not the world's brightest idea, but let's just try and keep that thing from using Discharge again.]
no subject
Between attacks, Leader is furiously trying to get back to his feet, but it's hard going. His body is a lot heavier now than he's used to, and he ends up digging a few deep gouges into the earth with his back feet instead of actually getting up onto them.
He lets out a yelp of pain when the Mightyena's jaws close around his neck, and before he can answer to any of Jimmy's commands he uses Discharge a second time out of reflex just to try and get him off.]
no subject
Mightyena gets blasted off of Manectric and maybe we shouldn't try and bite the giant electric discharging...thing.]
Take Down!
[But tackling it is apparently a fine strategy even if with the recoil...one more hit and Mightyena's probably going to faint.]
no subject
So, the only thing he can do is try to hit harder. Faster.]
Wild Charge!
[Leader lowers himself to the ground, his body starting to burn bright with electricity once more as he suddenly takes off, running as hard as he can with his body as bulky as it now is, aiming to meet the Mightyena head on.]
no subject
Honestly, he's just sort of impressed Manectric was able to get back up in the first place.]
I'm not finished yet, kid. There's still plenty more Pokemon where that came from.
[Like the Sharpedo, he's swapping Mightyena out for. Which quickly
digivolvesMega evolves into Mega Sharpedo.]Focus Energy!
[He'll just have it store energy for now. Between that and Mega Sharpedo's Strong Jaw, he figures he can unleash a particularly nasty hit on his next turn.]
no subject
Jimmy quickly calls out to him while the Sharpedo is storing energy, Leader's lips curling in a bit of a snarl. Gosh dangit he's dealt with a million Sharpedo today, and now this one is extra sharp.]
Thunder, one more time!
[He stands his ground and calls down another bolt of lightning similar to the first, directing it at Archie's Sharpedo.]
no subject
But Sharpedo's pretty fresh, so it's okay enough to attack in response, which it's going to with...]
Crunch!
[Mega Shark vs. Electrical Pseudoturtle. It's like a SyFy channel movie.]
no subject
Leader crouches beneath the blow, toppling over onto his side with a dull thud. His energy is spent, and the mega rhombus has been defeated.
Jimmy frowns and pulls out his Pokeball, quickly returning the Manectric.]
It's okay boy. You did a great job.
[He reaches down onto his belt, pulling off another Pokeball. He wants to fight with water? He'll give him water.
In a flash, a Floatzel stands on the ground facing the Sharpedo, his fangs bared.]
Lucky, Aqua Jet!
[He's off like a shot, rushing toward the Sharpedo for a full on tackle.]
no subject
[In other words, that's not going to be very effective, Jimmy. It'll hit for sure, but it won't do as much as those electric attacks were doing, that's for sure.]
You'd be better off trying to fight the tide itself. Crunch!
[Sharpedo's going to try and take a bite out of that now too. Maybe it got the words Floatzel and pretzel confused, who knows?]
no subject
Lucky skids to a stop after colliding with the mega shark, reaching out with both paws to grab onto its head as it suddenly rushes him and clamps down on his shoulder. He yowls and thrashes, but keeps hanging on as best as he can as he waits for Jimmy to call out to him again.]
Razor Wind!
[The Floatzel digs his heels into the earth and whips his dual tails around in an arc in an attempt to whip the Sharpedo's side and dislodge his vice-like grip.]
no subject
Night Slash!
[And Sharpedo's just going to slash with its...teeth? Spikes? Fins? However that works, it's doing it, then getting blown back by the Razor Wind.]
no subject
He hisses and doubles over, hunching his shoulders as he glares at the Sharpedo opposing him. He's strong, but as stubborn as he is even he knows fighting this Pokemon is a vain effort. He doesn't fully know himself what mega evolution is, other than that it's pretty nasty.
Jimmy grimaces, looking back up at Archie.]
Giving up yet?
[The tone of his voice is teasing, mostly because even Jimmy isn't dumb enough to think he's winning this.]
no subject
[Between him and Archie, they're probably the most stubborn villain teams out there.
And Razor Wind hits this turn, sending Sharpedo back towards Archie. This would normally be the part where he retaliates with Aqua Jet, but there's that whole type thing, so let's see. What else could he use...]
Ice Fang!
[It's better than a water attack, right?]
no subject
[Floatzels are fast, aren't they? Lucky braces himself when the Sharpedo comes rushing his way, making a move to attempt to leap clear. At the same time, Jimmy's wracking his brain, trying to think of attacks he could use. He has too many fire types, and his Furret wouldn't be a good match...Lucky is the best option other than Leader.]
no subject
Scary Face! Slow it down so it can't dodge like that again!
[...does there even need to be a sentence elaborating on the face Sharpedo makes? It's a giant torpedo shark, covered in spikes with razor sharp teeth, it's sort of terrifying enough as it is.]
no subject
Before he has too long to think about that, Jimmy calls out again.]
Double Hit!
[No more two turn moves for him; with his speed cut as it is, he can't afford to lose any more time. And so the Floatzel rushes forward with his tails raised again, significantly slower, but still coming on strong and head-on.]
no subject
Sharpedo!
[Uh, what actually should he go with here? Hmm. So many choices.]
Crunch!
[Apparently he's choosing to go with biting again.]
no subject
Without the speed he needs to dodge, Lucky takes the bite directly, reaching out with his paws to try to push the Sharpedo back. He's on his last legs himself, his body trembling as he struggles to continue to stand.]
Hang on! Double Hit, again!
[He swings his tails around a second time...but ends up overshooting and missing entirely, only sending himself further into the shark's gaping jaws.]
no subject
Crunch!
no subject
Jimmy is quick to return him in a flash of red light, pulling his hand back with a heavy sigh.]
...It's okay Lucky. You did a great job.
no subject
That's true. That Floatzel of yours definitely put up a good fight, but against Team Aqua, nobody stands a chance!
[The way Archie sees it, it'd probably take a literal act of god to stop Team Aqua today.
But what are the odds of that happening?]
no subject
[A whole heckton of a lot stronger than the one he has, that's for sure. Maybe that's because he got his when you caused them to get sucked from the ocean in the first place, oh Team Aqua.]
no subject
Of course it is. As the leader of Team Aqua, everything Pokemon I have has to be strong enough to combat the Team Magma menace!
