• You should have also received a highest match ID number; it ought to be the person who shares the same first letter of the ID number as yours! Click that link on the table to be taken to their profile and meet your match!

That...sounds rather like someone I used to know, I think. Caught up in mysteries and puzzles and such.

And yes, I do read! As much as is proper, at least; it's not at all seemly to have one's nose in a book all the time, of course.

What types of books do you like to read when you do, then?

[occultigen]

Well, books of poems and some of the classic plays, certainly, and...of course, ones on good housekeeping and whatnot.

[And sometimes romance novels, but you can't just say that, especially not to a stranger.]

[samsa]

I see! You know, I think I have come across a few poem books at the bookstore recently. There may be some of classic plays as well, but...some books here seem to be themed differently than they are back home. It's, uh...interesting.

[I mean, who doesn't want to read something written by Shakespearow?]

[occultigen]

I suppose there's likely a great deal more literature out there than I'm used to, anyway; a century and then some is a long time to build up a body of work, I would imagine.

[samsa]

[Huh...well that's interesting.]

A century?

Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking? ...if that's too personal, though, you don't have to tell me.

[occultigen]

From London, actually! When...last I recall, we were just coming up on the Queen's Diamond Jubilee — the year was 1897.

[samsa]

Wow...that's really interesting. I knew that people could come from any place and any time, but you're the first person I have talked to who is from that far back.

Do you like it in London?

[occultigen]

[Answer: no.]

I do! It's very pleasant there. Have you ever been, or...?

[samsa]

I haven't, but I have read about it before. It sounds like a nice place. I've never traveled outside of Japan before, actually...

...though I guess if you count being here as traveling, then I have.

[occultigen]

I've only seen pictures in the albums of Japan before, myself, but I'm told it's a pleasant enough place itself.

It's...rather far away from where I live, of course.

[samsa]

It is a nice place. Busy...but that's expected of most big cities, I think. I would recommend visiting to anyone, if you ever thought you would get the chance.

[...as long as you're not going to his Japan, of course. You'd probably be fine.

Does it look very much like any of the cities here?

[samsa]

It depends on where you are. Goldenrod is big and populated enough to be a lot like Tokyo. To tell you the truth, though, the only places I've been so far are New Bark and Goldenrod, so I couldn't say about the other cities.

[occultigen]

...Well, and Cherrygrove, surely. There's no place to stay in New Bark, and when one must go somewhere, it's really the only city to head for, isn't it?

[samsa]

Actually, some...friends of mine here arranged it so I would be brought straight to Goldenrod. It was snowing pretty heavily when I first got here, and I'm not sure if I would have been able to travel through it.

[occultigen]

Oh, I see. How very kind of them.

[samsa]

Yeah, it was. I was a little surprised to...see them here in the first place, actually.

[For more reasons than one.]

Is there anyone here from your home?

[occultigen]

...There isn't, no. At least, I've not seen or heard of anyone in all the time I've been here.

[samsa]

I see. Well, they may show up sooner or later, during your time here.

[He pauses for a moment there, then continues.]

I'm sorry...I've been talking to you all this time and I haven't even asked you your name.

[occultigen]

[There's something of a long pause on her end, as well, after he sends those particular messages — long enough for her to remind herself that she's fine, and safe here where she is, and that she'll not be under any sort of threat from them even if they do arrive someday.]

Perhaps so.
