Summary: Neku asks his friend to come hang out. Wires get crossed. It's certainly not a date

[Neku was still learning how this whole 'friend' thing went- but he knew hanging out was part of it. Him and Nagi talked mostly over text and snapshots. He liked it that way honestly. But occasional meet ups were nice. Ones where he didn't have to worry about a fight as much.

And honestly he wanted to see this world's version of movies for awhile. From what he's heard they were much shorter, so multiple series were often shown together. Perfect for a casual thing. So there he stood, checking the time on his Gear occasionally as he waited for Nagi]

Oh.

[He turns red as his hair, looking away and at the ground. Anything but Nagi. Wow, wow he was an idiot. of course Nagi would come if he thought he was getting a fight outta it. Stupid]

[...it's about the moment that Neku realizes that it clicks for Nagi as well, his eyes widening a touch. Neku never said anything about looking for a battle, did he? Even he found it strange that he'd suggest the movies for a venue, of all things.

...now it's his turn to turn red as he quickly looks away as well, his shoulders tensing.

His psychic Pokemon exchange a brief glance but they hang back. Kosumo hasn't been around as long as Kodokuna to know that this isn't really something either of them can help. The Lunatone had already learned that it was best to let her trainer work things out for himself.]

[He starts, suddenly at a loss for words. He has to stop and start again, but the words come so fast he's not even sure himself what he's said.]

...wanted to watch a movie?

Erm... if you want?

I mean, we can battle too. I have my new line up pretty much worked out now, so...

[It takes Nagi a moment to answer, as if he has to consider. In the pause that follows, he reaches onto his belt and pulls off two pokeballs...returning both Solrock and Lunatone for the time being. Then, he clips the balls back into place.

Perhaps the promise of a battle appeased him? ...it's hard to say, given what he says next.]

I...haven't watched any movies here, yet. I've just heard that they're not the same as the ones back home.

[If it's anything like the videogames...]

[Neku watches... then smiles. Bright and open and honestly surprised]

I hear they're really goofy. Kinda thing you don't wanna see alone.

[Nagi runs his fingers idly over the surface of the pokeballs he just put back as Neku talks, his gaze wandering over to the theater nearby.]

...I guess it's worth seeing if they're really that bad, if nothing else.

[Neku smirks, leaning forward]

And if it's REALLY bad we can just ditch.

[He turns, going in, assuming Nagi will follow]

[He watches Neku as he goes inside, turning his head to glance back down the sidewalk the way he came. Only when he's certain that nobody else is hanging around does he follow.

He did want a break from the kittens...]

[By the time Nagi reaches him, Neku is buying some snacks]

[Nagi just sort of...stares at him for a moment.]

N...no, I'm fine.

[He shrugs, popping his straw in his mouth, obviously thinking nothing of it as he makes his way down the lobby]

Come on, we're gonna be late.

[He follows quietly- if a bit awkwardly- as Neku leads the way to the theater proper. He can't help but be hyper aware of all the rest of the people in the lobby as they walk, but it's not like he's going to see anyone he recognizes in here. Still though...]

[Oh Nagi, scared someone from the team might see you with an ex-member? or something else...? Neku doesn't seem to notice his nerves just yet- and once in the dark of the theater he probably won't]

Care where we sit?

[Well, he can certainly think of several good reasons as to why he'd be nervous right now, and that's just to name a few. Not to mention all of the questions Neku keeps asking.]

It doesn't matter. You pick.

[RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE THEN YOU'RE WELCOME]

[...oh screw everything this day is deciding to be, oh my god.

Still, Nagi can't complain; he told Neku to pick where they sat, after all. He really has no choice but to reluctantly follow, hesitating just long enough for it to be noticeable before taking a seat. Once he does he keeps his attention riveted on the screen in the hopes that it's either started by now since they came in late, or they'll have walked in just as it was starting.

...he also regrets not thinking to bring his bag or something so he could keep the other seat next to him occupied, like a tool but who cares not Nagi.]

[Yeah, he notices. And while he was amusing himself with the slight trolling he's not MEAN. So he leans over, slightly into Nagi's space, whispering]

...we can leave. Honest. I won't get mad...

[Nagi tenses slightly, glancing down into his lap. Why would he offer to leave now, after all of that...?]

...it's fine. I thought you wanted to see how ridiculous these movies were?

I do, but you look like you wanna throw up.

[...what is it?]

...I've never really...done this before.

[Schuldig has taken him places on occasion (usually when he pretty much had to), and that was usually to get something to eat, or to get a new video game. And sure, he's gone to the game corner to play with Nanami before, but...something about that felt...different? He's not sure how, but they were constantly playing games.

...competing. Maybe that's what it was.]

Relax. No one can even see us now that the lights are down.

[...well when he puts it like that, that just makes him want to sink down into his seat even more.]

If it get to be too much just poke me and we'll go, okay?

[And look, the movie is starting: Invaders]

[Nagi doesn't really say anything else, but he fully plans on taking Neku up on that.

As far as the movie itself goes, well...it really is pretty goofy. But it's interesting for Nagi largely because there's so many Pokemon and quite a lot of battling involved.

...a LOT of battling, apparently.]

[A lot of battles. The films are so short it flows from one series to the next- and even more so then 'real' life everything is solved with battles.

Neku chuckles a few times, obviously enjoying himself]
