[ Because seriously, that's way too many Eevees for one household. Thankfully their excitement is starting to wear off and some of them are retreating back inside the house. Their work here is done, let's do something else until somebody else shows up. ]

Sandiego-san, right? I'm Makoto Naegi.

[AND LIKE THAT, THE FLOOD TIDE RECEDES. The relative oddity of it all draws a laugh out of her one last time, and then she seems to shake it off and start working to get back to her feet — an endeavor aided by Chief, who divides his attention between bag-holding for a brief second to give her a light psychic push back upright.]

That's right. And while I respect your devotion to good manners, Naegi-kun, just "Carmen" is fine, if you'd rather.

[She says, with a smile.]

And I don't think you've met my Kadabra yet; this is Chief, my starter.

Nice to meet you, Chief. [ He gives the Pokémon a small nod in greeting. ]

Lunch.

[For one simple word, it certainly gets a grin out of her.]

I thought you kids could probably use a treat. There's rice, noodles, a few different meats, steamed vegetables. An assortment, really.

Y-you didn't have to bring us lunch, you know. [ Still, he can't help but light up and smile -- especially at the mention of meats. ]

Thank you, Carmen-san. I really appreciate it. By the way, have you ever tried nikujaga?

Nikujaga — that's meat and potatoes stewed in sweetened soy sauce, isn't it? It was invented by naval chefs in the 19th century.

[Thank you, Wikipedia-san. Don't mind her as she just sort of finishes dusting herself off, and Chief nonchalantly floats the bags over toward Naegi at a leisurely pace.]

No, I've never had it, actually. My visits to Japan usually prompted a somewhat more...commercial fare.

...I didn't expect you to know that. Anyway, we're having nikujaga for dinner tonight and I'd like you to join us.

[ The Eevees in his arms are starting to squirm so he quickly sets them down and allows them to rejoin their brethren in the house. He then takes the bags floating toward him and motions for Carmen and the Kadabra to head inside. ]

You'll get used to it.

[She doesn't even have the decency to look sheepish; she's too busy being pleased with herself.]

Are you sure you'll have room for one more at dinner? I was under the impression there were quite a few of you kids staying here.

Several of the others are out traveling right now. There's plenty room.

What a shame. I was hoping to meet everyone.

[Ah, well. Just an excuse to come back another time, really.]

Not that I'm one to complain about an invitation to a home-cooked meal.

Some other time, maybe? Most of us left after Ishimaru-kun woke up, so the house's kinda empty right now.

[ Sure, they still have the Eevees and approximately a million other Pokémon but with half of the Dangans out of the house things have been a lot more quiet than usual recently. Once they're inside, Naegi shifts the bags around in his arms so he can close the door behind them. ]

He's getting better, by the way. He's...not like he was before yet but he's a lot better now than he was in the school.

I hope he doesn't feel obligated to come out and see me just because I dropped by for a visit. If he's more comfortable staying put, I certainly won't be offended.

[Meanwhile, Chief kind of gives Naegi a look, as if silently inquiring whether or not he'd like some additional psychic assistance. He's a smart boy, that one.]

Yeah, I hope so too... we'll see if he decides to come out or not.

[ Some assistance would be appreciated, yes; Naegi's hold on the bags is precarious and he looks like he might drop them any second now. ]

[Without further ado, gravity suddenly ceases to have a hold on the aforementioned bags, and Chief has a clawed hand extended almost lazily as he takes charge of things.]

In the meantime, how are you doing? Handling things all right, I hope?

I'm doing all right, all things considered. I've been looking after Ishimaru-kun the best I can.

[ Bless you, Chief. You are a true champion and Naegi likes you a lot already. :|a ]

Um, do you want me to show you around the house?

[Actually, let him just peel off to go find the kitchen, since that's probably where this goes, isn't it. He doesn't bother to look to Carmen or Naegi for confirmation of that idea, either; he's been trained to be fairly independent, and this just seems like a reasonable judgment call for right now.]

I wouldn't mind a tour, if you're up for it. Or if you leave me to my own devices, I'll probably find just about everything on my own, anyway. You might say I'm a bit nosy that way.

[The way she's smiling also pretty much gives away that she's teasing.]

Eh? [ Naegi arches an eyebrow and tilts his head slighty to the side, studying her in silence for a second. ]

...You're free to look around on your own if you want -- just be careful if you decide to enter the garden. The Carnivine and the Leafeon are really protective of it.

You have a man-eating plant guarding your garden?

[The implication here is who in god's name does that belong to and why did they ever think it was a good idea.]

...No roaming Cryogonals, though, I hope.

Audrey II came with the house. The previous owner was... a very strange individual, I think.

No, we don't have any Cryogonals here. Why're you asking?

...Well, whoever it was, they had good taste in pop culture references.

I once lived with a man who kept one chained up in his backyard. They're...interesting.

As interesting as a four-foot levitating carnivorous snowflake that turns into water vapor to hunt can be, anyway.

[ Oh god, sometimes Pokéworld has the weirdest shit and manages to find new ways to surprise him. ]

So what does Audrey II reference to? The name doesn't mean anything to me.

It's a reference to a musical called "Little Shop of Horrors"; the main character works in a florist's shop and, over the course of the narrative, raises a plant that feeds on human blood. He names it Audrey II, after the girl he's secretly in love with — a friend of his, named Audrey.

[Which is kind of morbid, if you really think about it.]

That's kind of disturbing... [ He says, as he shows Carmen into the study. ]

Why did he raise a plant that feeds on human blood?

He didn't intend to, as the story goes. The plant just sort of appears out of nowhere one day, and he feeds it blood on accident, after he pricks his finger on a thorn and the plant reacts to it.

[...that is a really weird place to start explaining, hold up.]

The idea is that the plant is so rare, it's making the florist's shop famous. As the caretaker of the plant, that means it's also making the hero famous. The problem is, he has to keep the plant healthy as a result, because if the plant dies, so does the popularity — and he'll take all the blame for it.
