☆ YOU ARE (STILL) HERE ☆




KEY:

• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think garden party!
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since this is a house party and not a hotel party, but this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who would prefer to class it up a little more than just your standard garden party. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.
• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — a sculpture of Lugia, a painting of the Ecruteak City skyline before the Brass Tower burned down, some stone etchings of what might be Fossil Pokemon, and so on. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.
• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.
• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. Of particular note is a glass case with a broken Ultra Ball mounted inside; the brass plaque attached claims it's the ball Lorelei was using when she almost caught Articuno. On a lighter note, there are also pictures of the Elite Four themselves — your standard Official Portraits™, sure, but also some framed candids of them in various configurations hanging out with their Pokemon and engaged in various activities around the house (Agatha making waffles, Lance and Bruno clowning around in the pool, stuff like that).

[He's not sure if he should have a bad feeling about this, but rather than questioning it he darts along with her, even if he's not sure of just where Imogen is taking him.]

*You're about to go exploring the giant resort home of the Elite Four with a girl who has worn zipper pulls for earrings. At least she has a direction in mind. The main stairs were an easy spot when they arrived, she'd been wanting to check out upstairs, now was as good a shot as any.*

*Her smile says trust her, but... yeah, bad feelings might not be such a wrong reaction.*

... Where are we even going?

Upstairs. *Imogen thinks a moment, then pauses a few steps up to explain.*

The party is outside and in the main ballroom, anything cool or important would have been squared away the furthest from the party. Which would be up here.

They can't be as absentminded as Mom or the Jennies, they have to know something about where we come from, why we show up here! Or about Team Rocket, or about something important and useful!

[She's checked the ballroom, she's checked the garden, she's checked the stupid parking lot trying to see if he'd managed to get himself into a fight. No Sasuke anywhere to be found. If he'd gone exploring without her...

Low-heeled sandals clicking against the floor, she finally spotted them both -- Sasuke and... Imogen? Her brows furrow as she darts ahead, running forward without any trouble at all.]

Hey! Sasuke! [Immediately she grabs his hand and gives Imogen an apologetic smile.]

Sorry, I have to borrow him. It's really important.

[beforethedarkness]

[The surprise hand-grab and tug get him on alert, and Sasuke blinks before frowning at Tenten. That smile's fake, and he knows it is. What's got Tenten so worked up? It's probably serious...]

... Mm.

[It doesn't seem like he's going to protest to getting dragged away, at least not right then and there.]

*Imogen plays up her disappointed sigh as she lets Tenten run off with Sasuke. She was so close to getting Sasuke to maybe have some fun. Smile a little! Something! It's clear something's up, but it's probably ninja business she can ask about later.*

Oh fine! I'll go exploring without you, if I find candy I won't share!

*But she smiles at the end, and sways gleefully as she hurries toward the rest of the house to explore.*

I'll see you later, Imogen!

[She just offers a quick wave before her fingers tighten around Sasuke's, tugging him back the way she'd come. Not back toward the more crowded areas, though; nice as it would be to ask him for another dance, she just couldn't, looking around before finally finding a deserted section of hall. She doesn't let go of his hand, instead pushing her other against his chest to push him against a wall and meet his eye.]

What happens, Sasuke?

[He frowned, a little stunned but not pushing her hands off of him.]

What are you talking about.

[usedswift]

Naruto-kun won't tell me. About the future. He just said something bad happened, and he's going to fix it. What happens?

[beforethedarkness]

[Oh... He's quiet for a moment, looking at her evenly and coldly.]

... I defect from the village in the future.

[Don't let the uncaring look fool you, Tenten. It still seriously bothers him.]

[usedswift]

[That look makes her flinch for a moment before her grip tightening in his shirt. So what if it was probably wrinkling that nice shirt?]

You...

That's ridiculous. He's lying. Or he's just wrong.

[beforethedarkness]

Naruto wouldn't lie about something like that.

Then he's wrong. It could be... I don't know!

[Her fist tightens in his shirt as she meets his eyes, trying not to flinch again.]

What if it was undercover? Then he couldn't possibly know.

The reason I left was to go after him. I apparently made that perfectly clear.

[usedswift]

[She opens her mouth to ask who him is, but stills when she realizes that she doesn't have to. She's quiet for a moment after that, still trying to meet his eyes.]

You won't. He's wrong.

[beforethedarkness]

To go after him...

[A sigh as he looks away, his eyes narrowing at the ground.]

Sasuke...

[She swallows hard and draws her hand away from his chest, gently touching fingertips to his cheek to get his attention.]

You're not alone.

[beforethedarkness]

... Not now, no.

[usedswift]

And not later, either. You're good at this whole cool act, but I for one? Not letting you go on your own. Not now, not then.

[Finally realizing she had a hand on his cheek, she pulled it away and clasped both hands behind her back.]

Okay?

[beforethedarkness]

[If he minded the hand on his cheek he doesn't show it, just looking away from her in silence when she did.]

...

[usedswift]

I said okay?

[That hand comes around again, but it's not on his cheek again, instead going back to his collar to bring his attention back where it belonged, on her.]

[Again he fails to answer, still not quite looking at her and only giving a little hum in a meager attempt to placate her.]

[Nope, this is the girl who shook an unconscious-and-clearly-injured-Rock-Lee back to wakefulness.]

Sasuke.

[beforethedarkness]

What do you want me to say.

[He's still not looking at her, his eyes closed as he tries to make himself colder.]

Even if you say that now, you won't ever understand what it's like to be that alone - to have everything ripped away from you, with your only hope of moving on and living again being revenge against the person who caused you that pain.

That -- to me -- is worth more than anything else.

Even my loyalty to Konoha.

[That's probably what's bothering him the most about it. It's horrible, but the worst part is that he can see himself doing it. Going that far for revenge... Hating Itachi enough to give up everything else... He can see it.]
