there are two rules no murder and no giftboxes
Who: Dangans of all kinds, other non-Dangan invited guests. Anyone who would be at the designated location who wants to party-crash. Although the designated location is, uh...
Where: Goldenrod City, in the Johto equivalent of Chuck E. Cheese
When: Forward-dated to the evening of March 14th.Because Lucy's going to be busy this weekend.
Summary: Nanami uses her birthday to take a bunch of people who wouldn't normally go to a kid's place to a kid's place (though she also invites some people who would be totally chill with it). There is an actual ball pit, what the hell Nanami.
Rating: PG13 at most for some people's language probably KUZURYUU.
Log:
It's pretty obvious by the time the actual location other than "in Goldenrod" is disclosed (though Nanami hands out the address and location so it's possible you could get there without realizing where you're going) that Nanami was completely the one who picked out where they're going. If Kuzuryuu or anyone else she brought up "eating dinner" with thought she would choose a nice sit-down restaurant or at least a legitimate restaurant, they were sorely mistaken. She has, of course, chosen the Johto equivalent of Chuck E. Cheese. Which is, of course, over-the-top with the Pokémon theme. Hands are stamped at the door to show that you've paid to be there.
There are arcade games, playable with tokens purchased and handed out at the door. Tickets are given over from the games based on winning or how well one won, and can turned in at the main counter for ridiculously cheesy prizes that mostly only children would be interested in. There are games other than arcades, such as skee ball and air hockey. There are claw machines with prizes within.
There's also a full-on child's playplace with climbing things, tubes to crawl through, slides, nets, etc. This includes a full-on ball pit.
The food is mostly pizza, although the menu also offers cold-cut sandwiches, buffalo wings, salad bars, and desserts. There's also cake, obviously, which was brought in with the party, as well as a pie. ...There is probably an animatronic show as they eat dinner because this is what Nanami picked and she's totally turning seventeen, the cake says so. There's a table decked out and reserved for the party, so claim a seat for your breaks and eating times and go have a blast! Clearly this night can only end gloriously.
Everyone not in the know of trigger lists would have been warned at some point prior to the party by Nanami not to bring gift-wrapped boxes (bags are apparently acceptable if they are plainish and not involving a lot of giftwrap, as are unwrapped things) with zero explanation of as to why this was.

a) the arcade b) the ticket counter c) the playplace d) the party table, taking a break or eating pizza [ ALTERNATELY, CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE BY MAKING UP YOUR OWN SCENARIO. ]
A!
She wants to try and learn how to play these games via example, and the best example she can think of is watching the SHSL Gamer beat them.
And her ulterior ulterior motive is just that she wants to hang around her friend as much as possible.]
You're so amazing, Nanami-san! You make these games look very easy.
[They're not, before anyone tries to say anything. They are all impossible, she's pretty sure.]

Unfortunately, what with being on the road near constantly until just recently after being picked up by Joker and and the rest of the circus group, Jimmy hadn't had time to try to find her a present.
Sooo...]
How 'bout we combine our tickets to get something really cool? Something for you, for your birthday!
[Cherry hops up and puts her front paws on the counter with the tickets still wrapped around her neck, her ears twitching as she looks up curiously at Nanami. It must be...quite a sight to see, since Nanami is 17 and Jimmy is 15...yet he's a good few feet taller than she is, somehow.]

[Joker was not invited, but when has that ever stopped him? He's just tagging along with Jimmy because it seems fun. Birthdays are always cause for celebration, anyway. What's that saying... 'The more, the merrier'!]
[With the exception of his Rapidash, most of Joker's current team is out. The Zoroark hiding awkwardly behind his back, the Meowth and Purrloin napping in his makeshift sleeve sling, the Furret snatching some pizza... and the little Mime Jr. cheerfully bouncing up to Nanami to offer her a tiny little box with a little Beedrill pendant inside. Joker doesn't really know Nanami or what she likes, so he just went into a little shop and found something pretty. Hopefully she likes bugs???]

this doesn't have to be an actual thread, i just realized i never actually mentioned what he got her
[This smaller bag contains a silver chain bracelet with charms modeled after the Galaga ship and some of the enemies. Yeah...he basically just recognized that it matched her hair clip. So clearly that means it's something she'd like, right?]
[As for her birthday present proper: a phone charm for her Pokégear and a Robot Rapidash Plush. Yes. It's a robot and it has a flaming rainbow mane and it absolutely plays the irritatingly catchy tune from the game when you press its right front hoof. Kuzuryuu doesn't know much about games but this struck him as the kind of weirdly adorable thing Nanami would like and he has zero doubt that she's played this game, whatever it is.]
you tried, gold star: open to anyone!
STARBUCKSA HUGE BOX.This is it. Okay, she tried to make this 2 times, and it took her ages for the design and making all the chocolate lather together in a way (Saionji thought) looked great. THIS IS IT, OKAY, THE EPITOME OF THIS FUCKING PARTY!!!]
Happy birthday, Big Sis Nanami! [BAM she slams the whole fucking thing on the birthday dinner table. And she's opening it, to reveal...
...um
Well, at least with John's tutorship the day before, she managed to make it actually taste pretty good.] Do you like it, Big Sis? I needed to change out three times before I could finish it, I was waaay too generous with the chocolate, teehee.

Ah, thanks...for the birthday wishes.
[ Aaaaaaand then she opens the box.

You know, Saionji, you're lucky that you're trying to give this to Nanami, because the other girl actually smiles. ]

[Surprisingly? Tsumiki can be found in this area pretty often. She's flitting between the games, watching others play them or, when she's pretty sure no one's going to watch and there isn't a line, playing them herself once in a while. She's still trying to get the hang of playing video games, so she's getting in all the practice she can. Plus it's a great way to avoid most of the other party goers.
She won't runaway if you approach her though, and you might find her sort of glancing over your shoulder if you're playing too.
Which means you also have a gaggle of Pokemon watching you, because she of course brought all of them inside. Her Pichu especially, who is excited by every new game they come across. She even tries to play a few! Meaning she messes with the buttons and is convinced the demo running is totally her.]
B) Party Table
[This is also a popular place to hang out for the SHSL Nurse, who's a bit overwhelmed by all of the party options. A bit overwhelmed by the entire establishment really. So sitting nervously at the table is the best option, sipping at the soda provided. Maybe eating a piece of pizza or two. Generally doing her best to behave and be invisible.
Vitamin D the Deerling stays pretty close to the table as well, but she's there because she just enjoys socializing with everyone! Her Rattata, on the other hand, is probably begging you for food.]
C) Choose your own
[Other than that, she mostly wanders around and just. Looks at things. She doesn't approach or try too many of these things that she looks at, but she does look at them. Her Audino is pretty close to her heels the whole time, as is her Eevee. The other three are investigating the play place. You can totally allow a Deerling in there, right?]
B
He's not exactly surprised to see Tsumiki here, if for no better reason than he's rather aware that classmates tend to attend these things - he doesn't know whether she even likes Nanami, but he suspects she'd be here even if she didn't because that's how these things tend to roll. It's sort of a moot point, maybe, because everyone seems to like Nanami, but still.
Just the same, it's a bit...strange to see her in a party setting; not like he's doing much better because he's likewise over here doing a spectacular job of wallflowering it up and watching everybody.
...look, we can sit here and suck at parties together, okay.]
Tsumiki-kun - are you enjoying yourself?
[...he tried.]

A
Particularly Tsumiki's Pichu, whom Cherry approaches as she spots the little Pokemon "playing" one of the consoles. Don't mind her as she leans back on her hind legs and puts her paws on the console so she can watch. Hey, it might just be the demo, but it sure does look like she's enjoying herself!]

[It is probably not possible to be more sorely mistaken than Kuzuryuu is at this very moment. Had Nanami said she just wanted to have a party, he honestly would have guessed some kind of arcade as the venue. But no. No, she had worded it as wanting to go out to dinner and that just brings a completely different mental image to mind. One that distinctly does not involve ball pits and animatronics and seriously why is this happening. Though the fact that he had no idea what he was getting into MIGHT explain why he's wearing a suit in a place like this. Though...then again he's basically always wearing a suit so maybe that's not actually that surprising.]
[For a good majority of the party, Kuzuryu can be found sitting at the party table, Pawniard standing ever at his side because Pokémon covered in blades are totally appropriate for a place like this, you can't convince him otherwise. His Houndoom is seated on the floor at his other side, resting her head in his lap as he idly pets her and scratches her behind the horns. He's watching you. Every last one of you because if ANYBODY starts shit there's going to be hell to pay.]
[
No he's not being a stick in the mud who doesn't know how to enjoy a party, why would you even suggest something like that.]B. The Arcade
[Eventually though, Kuzuryuu and his Pokémon disappear from the table, only to be found skulking around the arcade instead. His Houndoom has since been returned to her ball, but his Pawniard is still right as his side as he glances at the various machines.]
[He totally doesn't want to play them or anything though, he just came in here to stretch his legs. And check and make sure nobody's starting shit in here. Maybe see how Nanami's doing, you know, stuff like that. Definitely has nothing to do with the games though, nope. Not at all.]
B
Kuzuryuu-san...do you have a moment?

[Well, Ishimaru can...usually be found at the table for the majority of this thing, if for no better reason than wow these are a lot of Dangans. He seems to be trying to dress like a normal person today, if for no better reason than it's obviously an occasion to attempt being casual; that doesn't mean he's doing well at it, however - some days he looks halfway classy, other days he looks sort of like a hot mess, and between the black pants, the white-and-red hoodie with black accents with way too many zippers that was really really obviously given to him by Naegi, and the ever-present military-style boots, this is definitely a case of the latter but holy hell did he try.
The hood seems weighted down where it's dropped back over his shoulders; seeing him at the right moment would indicate that that would be because there's some sort of...cat...in there...? ...Yep, that's a cat. A really runty Meowth from the look of it. Just chilling.
Okay, Ishimaru, you do that.
At risk of seriously understating it, though, he's never been the best at socializing, and the last couple of months have made it harder than usual; the majority of the people here are Nanami's friends besides, people he doesn't know very well. He's perfectly willing to be there, however, if a bit awkward about it, and he's actually okay remaining where he is and keeping an eye on everyone; if they're enjoying it, that's fine and that's what matters.
And hey, as long no one is starting a fight with, accidentally triggering, or unintentionally overwhelming the birthday girl and making her cry, then this party is officially more successful than all of the 78th class' attempts so far! Most excellent good job, everyone, keep it up.]
B. Ar...cade?
[He does venture away from the table eventually, though he doesn't have much interest in the video games themselves; he's more interested in things like the air hockey table, which he is studying like it came from another planet - he knows what it is, he's just not entirely sure he wants anything to do with it. The Meowth from earlier has abandoned the hood and is currently parked on his shoulders like the world's most inconvenient wrap, as cats do; she doesn't seem terribly bothered by all the noise, at least.
Anyway, if Dangans have proven themselves good at anything when it comes to parties it's holding up the walls; he's at least...attempting to get away from that by actually being in the general vicinity of people, and there are people in here.
He is so good at this.]
A
...Though the only other person here yet that he doesn't know, persay, is Kuzuryuu, and he definitely doesn't seem all that approachable. Of course that hasn't stopped Jimmy before. Hm. .....maybe later.
Time to wheel around and find someone he does know! Which happens to be Ishimaru, who he had been wanting to meet in person anyway. He approaches with a small wave and a grin, with Cherry the Furret following close by his side. The rest of his team are currently in their balls, most of them rather exhausted from traveling for nearly a week and a half (and Lucky can't be trusted in a place with this many people).]
Hi, Ishimaru!

As her perusal takes her past the booth that seems to have been designated as the gift-holding area, she quietly drops off a plain bag containing two gifts for the birthday girl, and then goes on about her business: ]
A) Holding Up The Wall
B) Shooting Baskets in the Arcade
C) Showing You Her Moves
There's room for two on the pads, but she seems happy enough to play on her own as well, which is a fairly impressive feat considering she's doing it in those stupid boots of hers, and that doesn't make the rapid footwork demanded by the harder difficulty levels very easy.]

[ Every so often, you can find Naegi sitting at the table helping himself to the buffalo wings, dessert and soda. His Furret is at his side, its eyes on the food in people's hands. The second something falls to the floor, said oversized noodle ferret is there to snatch it up and down the hatch it goes.
That said, Naegi's going to say hello and chat with everyone who comes by to grab something to eat. ]
B) Arcade
[ This is where you're going to find Naegi most of the time; he'll be trying out one of the pinball machines or one of the many video games. Pokémon Kart seems to be the one game he keeps coming back to for yet another round. Sometimes he's just wandering around in the area, wondering what to play next. ]
Hmm. That one over there looks fun...
C) ...Ball pit?
[ There's a reason Naegi is rolling around in the ball pit right now and it's not for fun.. The poor guy lost his left shoe and he has reasons to believe one of his Pokémon decided to hide it there for shits and giggles. Kagura, one of these days you're going to get thrown in a lake. ]

[After terrorizing the poor admission attendant into stamping a piece of paper for her instead of her hand (if he thought he was coming anywhere near her with that filthy stamp...), Celes appears to have made herself comfortable at the party table - near the end, in a quiet-ish spot. She's reading a book about south-east Johto and taking the occasional bite of a small piece of cake, accompanied by a cup of tea in a Litwick-themed cup she obviously brought herself. Fittingly, her Lampent is hovering around her head, providing her with a steady source of reading light.
Feel free to bother her - she's in a surprisingly good mood.]
B - ARCADE
[Having spotted the game she was interested in after a bit of perusal, Celes has settled on it and appears to actually be enjoying herself; it's hard not to, after all, when you're constantly hitting the jackpot. No matter how fast the light spins around the circle, Celes manages to make it hit the highest number with ease. It's gotten to the point where the light is practically a blur, and she's got a small crowd of mesmerised children watching her work.]
Ah...it appears I win again. I always did enjoy this game...

But she does make it to the party on time, warmly dressed in jeans and a heavier jacket than the one she arrived in, with her two Pokemon trailing behind her. Hi, friends and people she's yet to meet, hi.]
a) the party table
[...Yeah, if anyone thought Asahina wouldn't make a beeline for the food they clearly don't know her. She's very happily munching down her third slice of pizza. She's...going to be here a while.
Don't judge her, she's starving.]b) arcade
[SHSL Swimmer she may be but this is also the girl who balanced being on four sports teams, including basketball. Asahina can be found alternating between shooting hoops like a champ and tossing balls up the ramp at skee ball. Based on the growing pile of tickets by her feet she's doing pretty damn good.
Donut seems to be off doing his own thing but Aoi the Floatzel is sticking right by her new trainer as her personal cheerleader.]
c) ticket counter
[Choices are hard, especially when you're making them for someone else. She has more than enough tickets to get a nice gift for Nanami and maybe a little something as a thank you to Ishimaru for helping her get here (and to hopefully make seeing him in person a little less awkward which ha ha ha good luck, Asahina).
Donut is still off being a Slowpoke, while Aoi has become the designated ticket weasel and curiously peeking over the counter at the many prizes.]
Hmmm...
d) ballpit
[This answers the question of where Donut went. The Slowpoke is slowly and contently doggypaddling through a sea of plastic balls, happy as a clam.]

Oi, it's the lass who was stuck in cold weather!

this is stupid and late
[Listen, do you have any idea how annoying it is to keep a present secret when you can't put it in a box, much less one that squeaks and jabbers on?! The way Souda manages it is to have her walk behind him, but even then he has to glance down at her ever now and then!
All right, all right. So during the month of preparing for her birthday, Souda went out and made a brand new version of Monomi. Granted, she was more like a certain other mini mecha he'd made before in terms of simplicity. It wasn't like she had a pre-programmed voicechip! You try gutting a stuffed rabbit and shoving all sorts of things in it!
When Souda's ready enough, he clears his throat.]
Happy birthday, Nanami! I want ya to say hello to Monomi 2!
[Souda lifts her up, and she squeaks in an overly familiar matter:] Don't give up, Chiaki-chan!
That's...kinda mostly all she's gonna say for now 'til I get more stuff added. She says more, but it's like she's stuck on that one. [All day. All damn day, that's all she's said.]
B) How 'bout them fancy animatronics?
[Considering how sore of a loser Souda is, he's watching the animatronic show with his Totodile, Chevrolet. Seeing as he couldn't have her out much while Monomi 2 was walking with him, she's actually more tame than usual. ...Save for constantly trying to steal his coke and pizza.
Both look strikingly similar when sipping from a straw, though.
Out of everyone, Souda is probably only the one who truly appreciates this sort of thing, not for the music, but for the animatronics themselves.]
B
He looks over at Souda in the midst of it with a curious frown, resting his head in one hand with his elbow propped up on the table.]

[Absol really is misunderstood. Monomi had to go back in her ball because they wouldn't let Hinata in otherwise. He promised her he'd save something for he and took Kaze the Pidgey in with him.
Hinata is easy to find when you might want to. He frequently returns to the party table to talk to anyone there and make sure things go smoothly. He takes time to listen before he heads off to see how everyone else is doing. Even if the trials and everything else was far behind them, he couldn't forget that they survived by running together towards the future.
His gift is with a pale blue bag. The first is a travel pack with pouches for stones, supplies, and pokeballs. It contains two potions and an antidote. The second is under the first, with a tag that says Thank you for the chocolate, Nanami. I don't remember it but, that doesn't matter. She might already have one but Hinata got a plain set of rain boots and rain coat. Spring coming means rain showers.]
Arcade
[Ah, here is the reason Nanami chose the place. (Aside from the place itself. He really was expecting this sort of place from her when she mentioned sit down and eat. Poor Kuzuryuu.) He's not that bad at some of the games but he's not great at it either. He can be found at the shoot and score game once, and drifting through trying the others (but avoiding anything puzzle or tank oriented).]
The ticket counter
[It's all so silly but here he is with a small amount of tickets and studying everything.]
The playplace
[One look at the playplace and Hinata makes himself check up on it in his rounds. He can't go inside but he can be around to help someone out if they get stuck. Someone might get stuck. He just hopes they'll get out easily. The problem is he can't let Monomi out and Kaze...will not help matters.]

She beats Jimmy to the counter, propping her paws up on it right next to Hinata. Don't mind your arm sinking into a mass of fur there, Hinata. She's harmless and might snuggle you to death if you're lucky.]

ARCADE
[Guess who's surprised? No one? They should, since Atsuro love games and is definitely checking out what they have and PLAY THEM ALL.
If he's not playing a game, he might be walking around and watching people. Or speak up for a match.]
Hey! Up for a game?
PARTY TABLE
[He's munching happily on the pizza and the food. More so if there's any meat on them, since he loves meaty dishes. But he can't say no to the rest of the food. Just...as long it's not healthy salads full of veggies.
He might strike up a conversation with you, whether you're a friend or not.]
Playplace
[BALL PIIIIIIIIT.
Guess who's playing inside with a Porygon-Z? Aw yeah, it's this adult. Even twenty years old people can have fun playing with all of these balls.
And just for this, Atsuro's even going hatless for the ball pit. He doesn't want to lose his precious hat, alright?]
Head's up, Fortran!

But this was a party, and a party for one of his best friends at that! With a lot of his other friends there, too! So of course he's having the time of his life.]
[A: The arcade]
[Of course Shaun's going to try his hand at getting all the tickets, although he's definitely no Nanami at the games. He does well enough, especially on Whack-A-Bidoof and its foot-based counterpart Spinarak Stomp. Skee-ball is a different story entirely, his swings going wild - sometimes wild enough to jump onto the next ramp over, though the rolled back down so that he could throw them again. He's sticking his tongue out in concentration, brow furrowed as he slaves over the games.]
[B: The playplace]
[He's getting a little old for things like this, but he's still small enough to fit, and he's having plenty of fun going down the slides.]
[C: Pizza!]
[No but seriously what 12-year-old boy turns down pizza and cake.]
C
It's been a while since the two of them last talked, so Naegi decides to start a conversation while they're enjoying the pizza. ]
Enjoying the party, Shaun-kun?
