Summary: It's Rise's birthday. And with the Fourth Wall wackiness, she forgot to tell anyone. So here's a depressed Rise who now feels too awkward telling anyone.


Locked Prompt for Crocker

[Rise had found a bakery in the quieter part of Goldenrod. She was sitting at a table in the corner, surrounded by her Pokémon. Her Sylveon, Himiko, and her Umbreon, Chiisai, sat on either side of her, and a newly evolved Glaceon, Jin, laid beside Chiisai. Her ever present Meowstic, Nanako, was trying to cheer up her trainer by floating a burning candle and making it move in complicated patterns.

There was a very small smile on her face, though she still looked sad.]

[Rise's out and about town now, her usual smile very brittle. She'll nod to people she knows, but keeps walking, her Pokémon always at her side. If anyone pay attention, she's wearing a pair of black glasses, with small bands of color on the frames, a red Alice band, and a set of headphones around her neck. There's also a blue hat attached to a studded belt, buttons on the hat, and a random red rose attached to the band in her hair, and last, a black tie with barrettes attached. (Of course she's wearing clothes to match this look) These are not the usual things she wears, but items from her friends. She had wished for keepsakes from home, and they had been on her bed that morning.

At least something was going right today. Her thoughts are all over the place, so it'll be hard to get her attention.]

[Once they reach the top of the building, Kairi steps outside to look up at the sky.]

[She just smiles at that reply. Frankly, she still felt like some might find her pretentious or annoying.

Rise takes a deep breath, choosing to look over the city.]

I love this place.

I've never been up so high before, besides flying.

[And she usually has her eyes closed for that.]

I haven't flown yet. Don't have the badge or the HM. But I'm looking forward to it!

[She walks over to the railing and leans on it. This was higher than the roof at her school.]

It feels like I can see forever.

It's like this a lot. Most people are too busy shopping to come up here.

[She sits down on a nearby bench.]

Oh well, we get this beautiful view all to ourselves.

[It takes her a while before she joins her on the bench. She's not siting too close, thinking about things right now. She looks at Kairi and smiles.]

You know, you're my first date that doesn't know the me from back home. It's really nice. They always acted all shy with me, hit on me a lot, or said dumb things to impress me. And you're not like that at all. Who knows, I might just fall for you~

Dating can be a lot of fun. But... I think I'm done just dating anyone that asks me. I'm going to be one who asks!

..... [She goes quiet at that.] ..... well, I'm pretty happy right now.

[She rests her head on Rise's shoulder, quiet.]

[She takes Kairi's hand and squeezes it gently. Yeah, happy was a good way to describe this feeling.]

[Her fingers curl around Rise's.]

I could stay up here forever.

[She turns and looks at Rise, still on her shoulder.]

[She blinks and looks at Kairi.] Hm?

[With slight hesitation, Kairi leans up and pecks Rise on the cheek.]

[At this, Rise blushes. She looked rather surprised, though it quickly faded to a shy smile.]

If you want, we can always have another date.

We can talk about it. [She squeezes her hand.]

[She squeezes her hand back, though her her heart did something like a painful flop. That didn't sound like something positive. It sounded to her like something a girl would say to a guy instead of saying 'no'. She looks back out at the city to hide any look of disappointment she might have.]

Why don't we go get that cake now?

[She giggles, nuzzling into Rise's shoulder and stroking her hand. Clearly her teasing wasn't going to work right now.]

I'd love to go on another date with you. In fact, I want to stay up here just a little while longer.
