[Jake is not drunk somehow, but it'll be really easy to catch him underneath that devil plant somewhere.]

[GUESS WHO is still pretty buzzed and after uh. Almost getting her Poppop under that mistletoe (awkward..), she's finally found Jake this time. Liquid courage and all, she's going to make her way into catching him under that plant!!!]

[He pauses in the doorway, oblivious to the devil plant all over the place. The kid smiles and waves.]

Hullo, Jane!

Jake! I've been looking for you, I wanted to see if you opened your gift yet! [Whoops, that's a little stumbling at the last few steps to get into the doorway, but goodness that is a giant smile on her face.

I have! I--whoa, there! [He helps to steady her, smiling a little.] Haha, I was planning on watching them later when the Christmas madness died down, but they look like fascinating stories!

Good, they're each a "choose your own ending" sort of story, except in movie format. I thought they were absolutely perfect! [Holding onto his arms to stay steady as well, Jane just can't help the goofy smile on her face.]

Yes, that would be a lot of fun! [Now that she's feeling a little more steady, she lets go of one arm but only to point up at the mistletoe. SHE ALREADY HAD ONE BUNGLE AT THIS SORRY JOHN AND THIS. IS WHAT SHE WANTS. FOR CHRISTMAS.]

Whoops, looks like we're stuck under a mistletoe! [This is terrible and she should feel terrible and she will likely feel ridiculous later, but wow. Jane is not going to get drunk again anytime soon due to this.]

[He looks up at the offending devil plant and blushes a little.]

[This was inevitable, really.

Of course, Dirk being Dirk, he's done his best to keep it from seeming that way. This totally was an accident- Dirk just happened to be coming through the same doorway as Jake. When they bump shoulders, Dirk glances over.]

[Lucky Dirk that Jake rarely suspects a thing. He grins.]

Aha, um, well, I'm not one to break tradition. [omgosh he's not sure if he should make the first move or if that'll be too forward or jfkldsah]

[If Jake is going to be hesitant, then Dirk will just take action himself. He hooks a hand around the back of Jake's neck, and leans in, pausing for only a moment, barely an inch from Jake's face. And... wow, that is not the quickest of kisses, is it. At least there's no tongue or anything.]

[Good, because he is a very hesitant person when it comes to kissing attractive people, especially if those people happen to be his friends. Jake does kiss back after a surprised moment because...that's what...people do when they kiss under mistletoe, right?

Okay, yes, but now his lungs are telling him breathing is a thing that happens, so he pulls away and clears his throat, blushing madly.]

[Dirk is going to be happy about this for weeks. But he's trying not to show that, and desperately fighting not to blush himself. He's only mostly succeeding.]

[Also he's wanted to do this for a long time now. Just ignore him absentmindedly running his tongue over his lips for a moment there.]

Good lord this place is packed. Aradia sort of edges backwards out of one room finishing another conversation there, and turns halfway into the other one - oh hello Jake. ]

Oh they're standing in a doorway. There's that moment of realization that yes this is a door, and then she looks up and yes, of course there is mistletoe. ]

Well, that, for one. Oh! But I do have something to talk to you about.

[Follows her gaze and...oh, yay, the devil plant returns.

Okay, sure. Should we go through with tradition first and move away from the mistletoe to talk?

[ Jake how many times have you even gotten caught under this, that is the world's most casual reaction. So old hat!

And that actually does get Aradia to crack a smile despite lingering concern about Jane and her state of mind. ]

I'm not sure what actually happens if you stay under the mistletoe after you go through with tradition, so moving away after sounds good? And I won't tell if we just do cheek kisses if you won't.

[There's been two boys and two or three girls, he's beyond casual about this by now.]

[Jake gives her a cheek kiss, and will pretty much let Aradia choose where to go for this talk.]

And then she'll try to spot a plant-free corner of the room where they should be fairly left alone, and will take his elbow to lead him in that direction. ]

Have you talked to Jane at all recently? [ Obviously she knows the answer, but. She'll just see if he knows what's going on or not. ]

I have, but she was acting rather oddly and one of her drinks smelled like rubbing alcohol.
