☆ YOU ARE (STILL) HERE ☆




KEY:

• BLUE areas are where the bulk of the party's events will be located! As you can see, the festivities will be taking place largely outdoors, and the grounds will reflect that; there'll be the usual decorations of pretty floral arrangements, little lights, things like that. Think garden party!
• GREEN areas are where guests will be staying overnight! Unfortunately, you'll be sleeping-bagging it up, since this is a house party and not a hotel party, but this is where you'll be given space to leave your possessions, claim some sleeping room, and generally crash for the night once the festivities do you in. (Note: you're welcome to try to sleep elsewhere, but Clair might catch you and disapprove. You don't want that, do you?)
• RED areas are unfortunately off-limits to guests! If asked about them, anyone will tell you that those are the rooms and areas that the Elite Four have claimed for themselves, and they're sealed off tight. Please don't try to break into them anyway; you'll only be caught and punished.

• AREA A is the designated Indoor Ballroom area, for the people who would prefer to class it up a little more than just your standard garden party. There's a big skylight, hardwood floors, tasteful artwork, and classy music — a little more upscale than the shenanigans going on outside, for the people who'd rather that kind of thing.
• AREA B will be the area of interest for anyone hoping to sneak a little Pokemon research on the side: this is the Library/Gallery area of the house. While most of it is your standard "tall shelves of ancient identical books" fare, there are a few points of interest — a sculpture of Lugia, a painting of the Ecruteak City skyline before the Brass Tower burned down, some stone etchings of what might be Fossil Pokemon, and so on. Guests are welcome to look around a little, but burying themselves in research the whole time will be highly frowned upon, and you'll be politely encouraged to leave the library alone and go rejoin the festivities if you hole up in there for too long.
• AREA C is...well, the Parking Lot. More importantly, it's where you take your Pokemon battles if you simply gotta get your battle on; keep it out and away from the house, please, and try not to make too much of a mess. Skirmishes, sorties, and sparring will be tolerated here and here alone. Do it anywhere else and you'll be facing some very displeased hosts.
• AREA D is the Elite Four's Trophy Room. Please be quiet and respectful if you come up here to have a look around; it's a solemn kind of place. Here you'll find various collections of badges, ribbons, awards, and trophies put on display, with one wall devoted to each member of the Elite Four. Of particular note is a glass case with a broken Ultra Ball mounted inside; the brass plaque attached claims it's the ball Lorelei was using when she almost caught Articuno. On a lighter note, there are also pictures of the Elite Four themselves — your standard Official Portraits™, sure, but also some framed candids of them in various configurations hanging out with their Pokemon and engaged in various activities around the house (Agatha making waffles, Lance and Bruno clowning around in the pool, stuff like that).

[ Aradia of course attended the party (because it's a party) and did so in the company of Kanaya! Who also was responsible for her dress, which is to the knee and in red. Kanaya was probably not responsible for the sneakers, which do not go with the dress as such. While she does have a pretty simple butterfree mask, she ditches it pretty soon on in the evening. Whoops?

She'll be/have been collecting all the dances she got people to promise her throughout the evening, and will probably never really be sitting anything out. She's accompanied only by Indy the Gengar, who is her constant creepy shadow. ]

[Kanaya came up quietly behind Aradia in her own black and red dress, a faint smile tugging at her lips.]

I seem to recall presenting you with a different pair of shoes when I finished that dress, Aradia.

[She doesn't sound upset at all, just...amused and perhaps slightly resigned.]

[timelymaid]

Well, yes! But these are better suited to explorations, don't you think?

[ Aradia grins at her friend, twirling in place and ending with a sort of ta-da! gesture at the sneakers.

Definitely fashionable, right?? ]

[Kanaya carefully considers the sneakers, lips pursed, expression thoughtful.]

But you are not going to be exploring. You are going to be dancing and looking pretty.

[Because no they are not fashionable they are sneakers.]

You don't even want to look around the rest of the island...?

[wontturntostone]

No, I would like to do so. But it is not the point. [She shouldn't be surprised, honestly.]

I suppose it doesn't matter, you still look lovely.

[timelymaid]

We should definitely explore - after we do some dancing, of course!

[ She flashes a grin at Kanaya. ] Thanks! I know someone who knows her way around a needle and thread, you see.

And you look stunning! I can't imagine where you get all your ideas for clothes, you know?

[wontturntostone]

[Kanaya just nods in agreement, she could hardly argue with Aradia when the girl is so excited, after all.]

Okay, sure.

[And then she blushes faintly at the compliment. She honestly isn't sure where she picked up this skill, given it is so untroll-like.]

They just...come to me. Anyone can do it.

[timelymaid]

[ Maybe the reason Aradia admires it so much is because it is untroll-like. Although here, in this human world - bright colors and pretty things are taken for granted, almost. ]

I think you're being too modest! It's not for anyone. Even sewing...You're giving me lessons, but there's no way I could do anything like this.

[ She spins in place in her own dress, making her point. ]

It's a talent, and you are talented!

[wontturntostone]

I...suppose not. [She could concede that the dress she had made looked just about perfect on Aradia, swirling around like that.] I am very glad you like it, Aradia.

[It was easier to talk about that than really accept the compliment, anyway. And then a pause, and a breath.]

...Do you really wish to dance?

[timelymaid]

There's no way I couldn't!

[ And Aradia grins, easily. ]

Of course! I wouldn't have asked you to a dance if I didn't want to dance with you! That would be perfectly silly, don't you think?

[wontturntostone]

No, I suppose you wouldn't have.

[It is strange, being sure that she is here because Sollux would never come adn trying to think around that keeps making her hesitate.]

Well then, Miss Megido, may I have this dance?

[She offers a hand out to the shorter troll.]

[timelymaid]

[ She needn't have hesitated. Aradia smiles immediately, open and warm, and takes the offered hand. ]

Of course you may, Miss Maryam.

[ortion]

[Dist does remember accepting Aradia's offer for a dance. How could he not? In fact, he's been thinking about it all night, because these things happen so rarely to him.

When he spots Aradia, he makes his way over to and...immediately gives those sneakers a judgmental stare. Those shoes? With that lovely dress? Yes, the guy with a frilly flower collar is judging someone's fashion choices.

When he realizes he's been staring for seconds too long, he quickly clears his throat.]

Good evening, Aradia. Are you enjoying the event?

[timelymaid]

[ Nearly everyone she's spoken to has noted the shoes, although Dist is the first to not actively mention them. Aradia smiles cheerfully, not mentioning his own frilly flower collar - mostly because she doesn't see anything wrong with it.

Fashion is not her forte, and the fact that she's in a lovely dress can be attributed entirely to her seamstress pal. ]

Dist! I was wondering where you were - and yes, I'm having a great time! There are so many people here, don't you think? Nearly everyone I know, with very few exceptions.

Have you been enjoying yourself?

[ortion]

[He would likely mention such a fashion faux pas to anyone else, but Aradia has actually been nice to him, so why put her down?]

Indeed, there has been quite a turnout. It seems Clair knows how to organize a successful event.

[But as he mentions Clair, a sour expression crosses his face.]

I was enjoying my time in the library until the hostess herself decided I needed to leave. The nerve.

[timelymaid]

She kicked you out of the library? [ Aradia looks...well, baffled. ] Why would she do something like that?

[ She's...not aware of Clair's very determined opinions on what people should be wearing and doing. ]

[ortion]

That one is simple. [He crosses his arms.] Because she wants us to care more about her precious party than the valuable information in the library. It's ridiculous. If she is that determined to receive all of the spotlight, she should have barred off the library entirely rather than give us a small taste and then pull us away.

[timelymaid]

She does seem rather determined to make this party a success. I wonder why? Although I don't think it's such a bad thing, as of yet...though I agree that I'd prefer open access to the information. Did you find out anything worthwhile?

[ortion]

Well, if she put a lot of resources into this party, she likely wants to make sure none of it is wasted.

[That's not going to stop him from being butthurt about this though.]

Unfortunately, most of it was vague, but there was interesting information on the so-called Legendary Pokemon of this region, along with this world's other regions.

[timelymaid]

Oh? What did you learn about the legendary pokemon?

[ She's actually really interested in this, which is helped along by the events triggered by special pokemon. Knowing about some of them in advance would be nice. ]

[ortion]

[Dist is willing to provide deets, thankfully.]

Are you familiar with the shrine in Ilex Forest? Apparently it's for the legendary Pokemon Celebi, which is known to travel through time. Then, in Kanto, there is a Pokemon known as Mewtwo, which was apparently created as a replica of Mew.

[He's especially intrigued by Mewtwo, but he doesn't elaborate why, because he doesn't tell anyone about his history with cloning.]

[timelymaid]

I've been by the shrine before, and Kayneth did mention something about it...but I'd never heard about this "Mewtwo".

[ So chalk that up to one more legendary to add to her List of things she needs information on in the future. ]

So...a pokemon created by humans...? Although I suppose that's not so out of the ordinary, considering some of the origin stories I've heard.

[Dist nods, somewhat enthusiastically.]

That's correct, Mewtwo is not the only man-made Pokemon. Golett for example, was supposedly created by ancient civilizations. Even more fascinating is their ability to produce eggs despite being a seemingly sentient object.

This world is truly full of wonderful mysteries.

[timelymaid]

...Hm. Actually, a lot of the pokemon who can produce eggs don't make sense, don't you think? Porygon is also supposedly man-made - or at least isn't a biologic creature as such - but they seem to have no problems reproducing either. The only creatures I've heard of who seem to have that issue are the "legendaries", as I'm led to believe there's only one of each.

Which makes me wonder if the legendaries are all immortal, or if there's just a severe underestimation of their population...
