Summary: It's Rise's birthday. And with the Fourth Wall wackiness, she forgot to tell anyone. So here's a depressed Rise who now feels too awkward telling anyone.


Locked Prompt for Crocker

[Rise had found a bakery in the quieter part of Goldenrod. She was sitting at a table in the corner, surrounded by her Pokémon. Her Sylveon, Himiko, and her Umbreon, Chiisai, sat on either side of her, and a newly evolved Glaceon, Jin, laid beside Chiisai. Her ever present Meowstic, Nanako, was trying to cheer up her trainer by floating a burning candle and making it move in complicated patterns.

There was a very small smile on her face, though she still looked sad.]

[Rise's out and about town now, her usual smile very brittle. She'll nod to people she knows, but keeps walking, her Pokémon always at her side. If anyone pay attention, she's wearing a pair of black glasses, with small bands of color on the frames, a red Alice band, and a set of headphones around her neck. There's also a blue hat attached to a studded belt, buttons on the hat, and a random red rose attached to the band in her hair, and last, a black tie with barrettes attached. (Of course she's wearing clothes to match this look) These are not the usual things she wears, but items from her friends. She had wished for keepsakes from home, and they had been on her bed that morning.

At least something was going right today. Her thoughts are all over the place, so it'll be hard to get her attention.]

[She laughs nervously as she stands up straighter. She does have to admit that Kairi looks utterly adorable.]

Well, I was walking around with everyone, and we got distracted.

[Nanako shoots her a look, which Rise ignores.]

Water's good... but how about we go for something else? There's a place here with all sorts of cold drinks!

[Rise nods and looks at her Pokémon.]

You guys better behave. Today is special! Now let's go~

[She does indeed lead them to cafe.]

This place has these sodas that they add cream to. They're really good.

[Sounds different, but Kairi has never said no to sugar before, and she isn't about to start now.

She follows her into the cafe and takes a seat at a table.]

I thought it was weird at first, too.

[She sits down across from her, handing her a menu.]

There's so many flavors, but I haven't even tried half of them yet.

Wow, you weren't kidding. [Everything she could think of was on there.]

Where should I even start?

Why not something you're familiar with? [She points at a tropical flavor section.]

The pineapple one isn't too bad. Chiisai likes that one, too.

Too bad there's no paopu flavor. [She snickers.]

But pineapple sounds nice.

Paopu? [She doesn't know a fruit like that...]

Alright~ I'll go order then.

[She gets up and walks over to the counter, leaving Kairi alone with her little group of doom. All of them look very interested, except the Meowstic. Nanako is judging you, Kairi.]

[Oh god, a Meowstic. Does it smell her Espurr? Please don't stare at her.

When Rise gets back:]

A paopu is a special star-fruit where I'm from. They say if two people eat the same fruit, their destinies will be tied together forever.

[She staring because you're getting close to her trainer. So she'll send you a message. .... you are not a boy. Okay. That makes you okay. Don't make her sadder on her special day!

Rise smiles and squeals a bit.]

That sounds so cute! I'd love to have one of those.

Maybe we'll get lucky and find one some day.

[Rise stops and stares. Special day? Oh... right.... She starts laughing nervously.]

S-She means about this date! Of course it's special!

[Nanako huffs and sends Kairi another message. Don't listen to her! It's her hatching day!]

It's your birthday today?! [She grabs her hands.]

We need to get you a cake!

[Yes! She wants a proper birthday! But...]

We can totally do both! When the date's over, we can get a cake and celebrate.

[She doesn't want to upset anyone today. It's been a rough day, and she wants this to be a nice date.]

[Rise would object if it weren't for their drinks arriving. Himiko makes a grab for the cherry on Rise's drink, which earns her a huff.]

I'll put all four of you into your balls if you don't behave.

[She smiles sheepishly at Kairi.]

Sorry... They don't like being confined. Plus, they go where I go...

It's fine, I usually keep mine out too. They're only in balls because I was traveling.

[Rise wishes she could do that with hers.]

I don't mind if you let them out. I got some treats for mine, and they don't mind sharing. They should have fun just like us.
